Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card Arc 06

Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card Arc 06
カードキャプターさくら クリアカード編 chapter 06

SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card Arc 06Sakura eats lunch with her friends at school, including Syaoran. Syaoran isn’t joining any clubs, but Sakura becomes a cheerleader. Her skills get her praised by the club advisor. When Sakura stops to tie her shoe, she discovers everyone is gone. Suspecting a Clear Card is near, she activates her staff.

Sakura uses Gale, but is unable to capture this new, invisible card entity. Using Aqua, she’s able to detect and capture the card. The card is called Reflect, which is why the magic from Gale bounced everywhere. Aqua returns to card form, but causes a downpour in the process.

Syaoran races to the drenched Sakura and gives her his jacket. He sees she’s captured a new card and becomes worried.

Sakura comes come and invites Kero to take a bath with her. On the way to the bath, she suddenly becomes sleepy. She appears in the dreamscape, facing a hooded person with clear shards all around.

Thoughts/Review:

Another chapter, but not a lot here. Well, I’ll do what I can with what is available.

The New Card

So we learn that this new Clear Card is called Reflect. Sakura couldn’t use Siege because she couldn’t see the magical entity (assuming these Clear Cards are like the Clow/Sakura Cards) and didn’t know what she was up against. That’s cool. When Sakura used Gale on it, it caused the magic to bounce. OK, I’m cool here as well. She uses Aqua to be able to see the magic entity move through the large water drops and then capture it. Everything is cool there.

I can see uses for Reflect, mainly as a defensive magic card for Sakura. However, how the heck does it cause everyone around Sakura to go missing? That makes no sense to me.

Syaoran

Syaoran continues to be a suspicious character on top of being a concerned boyfriend for Sakura. We saw his concern in how he came to her after Aqua drenched her. And he’s concerned about the Clear Cards.

On the suspicious side, he has a weak excuse for not joining a school club. There’s no reason he should have anything to do with his immigrating from Hong Kong. So what duties does he have that would prevent him from being in a club?

Further, there’s a theory that it is possible that Syaoran is the hooded figure that Sakura keeps encountering in her dreams.

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

As I said, not a lot to discuss in the chapter, but I’ll make a few more points.

  • It is no surprise that Sakura is so good doing the stunts as a cheerleader. After all, she’s doing all kinds of athletic things as a mage.
  • Yamazaki is still Yamazaski, though the joke about Sakura and Syaoran always falling for his lies is old and tired.
  • No Tomoyo-chan? What the…?!!! Well, she might have stolen the scene.
  • For a monthly series, CLAMP doesn’t do a lot of pages. We are only six chapters in, but things just aren’t all that interesting. That’s unfortunate.

In the end, Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card Arc 06 is OK, but not all that interesting since it seems to only be relying on nostalgia.
