xxxHOLiC Manga Chapter 179

SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

Watanuki’s cooking student hates her own cooking especially in comparison to Watanuki’s, which she tried. She realizes that this is a reflection of her own hatred of herself. After some consideration, she has placed her wedding on hold. She addresses Watanuki as “Sensei” and asks to be taught to cook again. Watanuki happily agrees. The woman comments on Yuuko-san’s shop and how it had the power to grant wishes, but that didn’t happen as it was Watanuki visiting every day that convinced the woman to move forward. Watanuki says he did what he could but if Yuuko-san had been there, she likely would have found a better way.

Thoughts/Review:

Are we finally done with the cooking woman or will she keep showing up as Watanuki teaches her? Considering that Yuuko-san is tied up with the Tsubasa story right now, it will likely be a while before we see her in xxxHOLiC again. Therefore, something will have to be done to fill time within xxxHOLiC and unfortunately, this woman is the only story arc that has no connection to Tsubasa. Also, all CLAMP can do is throw out teasers to show stuff going on in Tsubasa and then throw in a promotional to tell people to read Tsubasa to find out about Yuuko-san.

Ideally, I’d love for Watanuki, Doumeki, Himawari, and Kohane-chan to have some new adventure involving Ame-Warashi and Zashiki-Warashi somehow. I think that would be more interesting than some tedious cooking story arc. Hopefully the cooking arc is over but somehow, I can see it continuing.
