Shocking Rumor Regarding Hayate the Combat Butler (and more!)

Shocking Rumors Regarding Hayate the Combat Butler

I got alerted to a wild rumor (but possibly true, depending what a translator comes up with) that Hata-sensei has revealed information about Maria. This is so fantastic in the extreme, but in case it is true (and there’s a part of me that does think Hata-sensei would do this ’cause “reasons”), I’ll wrap this reveal in spoiler tags.

Maria

Maria is actually Hayate’s sister!

Here’s where this rumor is coming from.

Hayate the Combat Butler

So if you can read Japanese and enlighten us, let me know. The more I see the reactions online, the more I think this is true.

As a bonus, here is some of the extra material Hata-sensei drew. I’m not sure if this is all of the pages or not as there are page skips. The Chinese have already translated this and it seemed to be the same pages.

Hayate the Combat Butler Hayate the Combat Butler Hayate the Combat Butler Hayate the Combat Butler Hayate the Combat Butler Hayate the Combat Butler Hayate the Combat Butler Hayate the Combat Butler And finally, Hayate’s harem members (you could say that Maria, Isumi, and Sakuya were lesser members) in wedding dresses.

Hayate the Combat Butler

I’m not 100% sure, but I think only one of these came with an LE copy of volume 52. If I’m right, to collect them all, you’d have to buy 9 copies of the manga.

Anyway, what are your thoughts on all this?

Update: Here’s a link to a Japanese blog review of volumes 51 and 52, which has some additional info for those who read Japanese.

I’m seeing people buying volume 51 and 52 in Japan. I will be amazed if Viz actually releases them in the U.S.

If you are searching for some new manga to review I suggest checking out Astra lost in space. Pretty good space adventure type story.

I see Viz has it up for free for some reason. Without seeing the raws, I’m not 100% sure, but I’m pretty sure they’ve stripped Japanese honorifics. I hear they renamed a character with the last name of Javelin to Lance for “reasons.”

Thanks for letting me know though.

My Japanese is a bit rusty so there were parts I didn’t understand and thus some key information might be missing. But what I understand from the first image is that Maria is indeed Hayate’s elder sister and her real name is Ayasaki Maria. If I understood it right, their parents “didn’t need” her which is why she was abandoned.

It seems Mikado actually knew who her parents were, but I don’t understand the part where it’s explained why he didn’t tell her. It seems looking into this is when Hayate first saw “Santa” though.

The manga pages seem to imply that Hayate getting out of the Royal Palace was due to Maria wishing for it.

That would suck if Maria was his sister. There was a lot of romantic investment put into that Three-way relationship, Maria in course of the manga was interested in Hayato.

However, this twist sounds like Hata-sensei wants to work on a side story featuring our disappeared Maria.

I think the whole purpose of making Maria and Hayate related was so Hata-sensei could do the incest trope.

      Which should happen.

Honestly, who cares anymore? Does it matter at all either way?
