Thoughts/Review:

With Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory 06, we finally get to understand the situation Sousuke is in at present.

Getting Lost in the Job

One of the interesting elements to me is how Sousuke started losing his focus on the real reason why he signed up with Nami’s crew. I had figured he needed money to go after Kaname, and I’ve no doubt this is still true. However, had Kaname not been in the picture, Sousuke could have easily lived a life as an AS arena pilot. The corrupt police aside, it would have been a good life for Sousuke.

Nami would have also been a good girlfriend and even wife for Sousuke. They would have made a good husband and wife team in working the business, getting more sponsors, and who knows, maybe even get more AS units. Kinda like a NASCAR situation.

I liked how Sousuke acknowledges how comfortable he’s become in this life. He may still be dense about women, but in a way, I think he realized how things could have been with Nami, if Kaname weren’t in the picture.

Back On Mission

We learned that it has been three months since Amalgam attacked Mithril. I can’t remember if this Amalgam arena plot element was discussed in The Second Raid or not. If someone knows, let me know.

That aside, things make sense on why Sousuke is doing what he’s doing. Mithril may be dead, but there’s still Kaname out there somewhere. While I suspect she’s in NTR mode now, no doubt, Sousuke will be able to NTR her back, ’cause that’s what a manly MC would do if his girl was stolen from him. 😉

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

I’m behind, as always, so I better wrap up my review of Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory 06.

  • With Kurama getting involved in this story arc, I’m really having trouble seeing how this arc ends. I guess nothing to do but wait and see.
  • I really hope Nami and crew don’t get killed. Nami may have some heartbreak ahead, but I can handle that. I don’t think I could handle her getting killed for some reason.

Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory 06

In the end, Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory 06 links this current story arc back to the main story. I’m looking forward to seeing where things go from here.

this is such a stupid assessment lord god. this was never about sousuke developing feelings (which is highly uncharacteristic and out of nowhere when he has chidori as his driving force), but rather this is for us to realize that sousuke is just a human being who wants to find an easy escape route. it was never about nami but the fact that she reminds him of chidori during a time where he no longer can remember her (he was always searching for her image because he yearned for chidori and the life he had with her). perhaps due to ptsd and his mind is saving him by making him forget/detach himself from chidori, school, his former workplace, etc. the rest of everything that made up his whole life and who he is….why? because he is not really okay!

the whole namsac thing was a heavily watered down world of what he had with chidori, and the only thing making him consider that for a second is because sousuke is afraid and tired… because after gaining his humanity through chidori’s help, he realizes all too well the pain that could come if he fails his mission. so namsac was almost a substitute (not replacement because its not equal in worth) for said comfort/memory, but not really nami, its funny how she’s also called a budget chidori, because if anything she was just a plot tool to show us sousuke’s moment of humanity. but tbh she could literally have been just anyone. like have you seen him after she died lol? at best he treated her like every coworker he had. I mean dude sincerely entertained the idea of letting her die because if he saved her, he couldn’t save chidori instead. this is life we’re talking about, especially if he actually really did like her (which he did not, he only entertained the idea of a peaceful life again with…however!). I get why he had to think for a moment but tbh, if this was chidori in her place, he wouldn’t even have time to think that clearly and calmly, his choice would be decisive and immediate. the best thing he did for her was to honor her through using her robot well but after that, he could hardly care less, it was mostly lemon who brought things up. I swear he would kill sousuke if he knew sousuke actually had a chance to save her but didn’t because he had other priorities instead. hah, that lemon is the one who really loved her.

nami’s initial worth to him was only amplified because in his heart,he wanted to be with chidori and mind you he wasn’t used to parting with her yet, let alone a painful parting happening to both of them. its almost funny how he realizes that after her death, he couldn’t even cry, because there was no real attachment there. he hasn’t fully realized yet his side of himself that is just simply afraid of death rather than the idea that he really cared for these people (he cries later on though for his own life, and this completes sousuke’s character arc). who do you think he calls for when it really mattered? it was always chidori.

so no, this story isn’t about sousuke not being dense anymore, nor was he entertaining a love life, or etc. this was only to further the idea just how painfully special chidori is to him , that he would go out of his way to search for her image/ the life they had from someone/ anywhere just to save his soul from the fear of loosing her again which would in turn, loose himself in the process. sometimes when something means way too much to you, it becomes tempting to just not face it and settle with something easier/closer to your original goal because of the pain of loosing it is far too big to handle. but alas, it didn’t even tempt him that much, Because for every moment he questions himself….a second after he always chooses chidori despite knowing full well the challenges that comes along with it. even calling his ideas as ridiculous. but tbh when people like you dont clearly see that, it frustrates me. hah. id even go as far as to say if its between tessa and nami, id bet he’d rather save tessa.

seriously…what other reason would he leave everything that made him who he is today (and even subconsciously detach/forget it to save himself from such pain) FOR PEOPLE HE BARELY KNEW, if it were not for the fact that he was in a very mentally exhausted state in his life!? i swear some people think he’s starting a love life, nopeee what he almost started was an escape route selfishly for his own sanity! the recipient could have just been anyone who at least 20% replicate what he had back then. but thank god he knew better lol even for that time he hasnt realize that he’s just afraid of his own mortality.

You are coming at this from someone who knows all the lore, or so it seems. When I wrote this review, I came from a perspective of someone new, who isn’t aware of everything. And I don’t believe I rewatched all of the FMP franchise before watching this last entry in the adaptation franchise. (And it is a shame that it will likely never get finished in anime form, so I guess I may never know how things go.) Anyway, I just call them as I saw things. 🙂
