Spoiler Summary/Synopsis:

Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 52Nasa wakes up at 5am to discover the cat, Toast, pawing him. The cat climbs on him, purring. Nasa figures the cat wants to be fed, so he puts out food. Toast gobbles it down, then ignores Nasa. The kitten heads to the futon where Tsukasa is. Toast then curls by Tsukasa’s head and goes back to sleep.

Later, Nasa recounts the story to an amused Tsukasa. She tells him that it means that Toast trusts him and wants to be spoiled. Nasa asks if Tsukasa wants to be spoiled. She confirms this, stating she would never sleep next to another person if she didn’t want them to fawn over her.

This leads to Tsukasa and Nasa feeling romantic. As such, they start to kiss. However, it is then that they notice Kaname standing outside the window, peering in. This causes them to stop, though Kaname wants them to continue.

Thoughts/Review:

Hata-sensei decides to do a chapter split with Tonikaku Cawaii chapter 52. As such, we only get ten paged with this chapter. The next chapter will be eight pages in length. And yet he still managed to get some nice stuff in this chapter.

Life With a Cat

I couldn’t help but laugh as I read the antics of Toast in Tonikaku Cawaii chapter 52. If you have ever owned or kept a cat, you know how true this chapter is. When the cat wants to be fed, then its keeper better get their butt in gear and feed the cat! 😂 And they will wake you up at super early hours to get fed. That’s why I used to leave dry food out overnight so the cat would be less inclined to bother me.

Of course, if the cat wants attention, even if there’s food in the dish, you’re going to get woken up anyway. 😅 When the cat wants attention, you better give it. When the cat’s done, well, that’s it.

Kaname the Blocker

I believe Hata-sensei decided to troll folks again by having Kaname be the blocker who prevents Nasa and Tsukasa from kissing. It amazes me that so many Western readers of this manga seem to think Tonikaku Cawaii should depict Nasa and Tsukasa having sex. As I’ve said (and will likely say again), I get that a normal young couple would be having lots of sex.

But this is not that kind of manga. It is a romantic comedy series with the possibility of Tsukasa being Kaguya-hime. It is a wholesome manga title. And in that vein, Hata-sensei enjoys using Kaname as a device to troll people.

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

In the end, Tonikaku Cawaii chapter 52 is a short but fun romp about life with a cat and a nosy teen girl.

Good news for us “Bloom into You” otaku. Touko and my darling Yuu reunite in volume 7! See the net site, Nippon manga/Dynasty Reader/Bloom into You.

I very strongly recommend this manga. It’s yuri, but contains no gratuitous sex, no large ladies with funny hair exploiting school girls; and the males are not portrayed as the enemy. In fact, everything is normal. The boys and men act like real adolescents and fathers or teachers. And they contribute well to the plot.

Finally, the real killer is Nakatani-sama’s art work. It’s terrific. An example is the first non-color page in Volume 1. The subject is mundane, just Yuu supine on her bed with earphones, but the art is fantastic. All the variation in line width and shading that make her work so great appear in this one panel. See the wide pattern plaid on her bed cover, which is very difficult for an artist to get right, but it’s done perfectly here. Great stuff.

My bookstore had featured BiY by facing the cover of Volume 2 outwards on the shelf. Struck by how good the art was, I pulled it out, opened it randomly, and made the mistake of reading a few panels. I immediately became a 200 pound tuna on the line, yuri-ness notwithstanding,
