Fate/EXTRA Last Encore 12 (Penultimate Episode) #FateEX_LE

Fate/EXTRA Last Encore 12

SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

Leo observes the realm of the 7th tier crumbling after the fallen Nero-Saber and Hakuno. He recalls his meeting with Twice Pieceman after his earlier defeat at the hands of Nero a thousand years before. Meanwhile, Hakuno casts an Impact Protection spell that prevents Nero and him from dying. They are in a limbo area where they first met. The pair head for a light pillar and chat before Rin contacts them.

Rin reports that she’s under attack, Chakravartin is turning faster, and SE.RA.PH is coming apart. Hakuno gets her opinion on humanity. He tells her that he and Nero will come up to help her. Hakuno explains the bookmark he received from Nursery Rhyme. Nero advises him not to give into hate, but to use his anger as she considers him a worthy Master. They use the bookmark to leave, not knowing Twice Pieceman watches them leave.

On the 7th Tier, Gawain has nearly defeated Rin in her Lancer form. Rin is happily surprised to see them while Leo is annoyed. Hakuno uses his Dead Face power to send mana to Nero, who forces Gawain back. The strain is nearly too much for Hakuno, who is chided by Leo as a result. After all, what can a non-human entity created from the wishes of the dead achieve? However, Hakuno’s wish to live allows Nero to get off her Nobel Phantasm and defeat Gawain.

Rin is surprised that Leo still lives. Hakuno is glad that they won without having to take another life. Leo causes the ground they are on to rise since Moon Cell hasn’t accepted the winner. He is taking them to the center of Moon Cell, called Angelica Cage. Angelica Cage is an observation devices sometimes called the Tree of Possibilities. There, the last enemy awaits.

Thoughts/Review:

And so the penultimate episode, Fate/EXTRA Last Encore 12, comes to an end with a lot of jabber, and some other stuff too.

Humanity Sucks Cliche

While it is true that some humans suck, and humans are a fallen race in Christianity, I found the cliched “humanity sucks” parts of Fate/EXTRA Last Encore 12 to be eye-rolling. I kinda laughed at Twice talking about Earth’s resources starting to fail in 1970. I realize the Earth in this series is not the real one. But it did smack a bit of SJW preaching.

Of course, I’m old enough to remember that we were supposed to be out of oil by now. Likewise, the rainforest was supposed to be gone. And acid rain was supposed to destroy everything. So that probably plays heavily into my sensitivity on the “humanity sucks” stuff that comes up. 😜

Nero’s Fight and NP

I can’t speak for the Fate/EXTRA game. However, Nero’s NP in Fate/Grand Order isn’t something to be avoided or the like. As such, I found it fascinating that Gawain knew of a way to counter her NP while in her pseudo Reality Marble. (It isn’t one, but is very similar to one.) That makes things feel more interesting to me.

Still, I enjoyed Nero’s fight with Gawain. It was pretty enjoyable, even if I had no fear of what the outcome would be.

Hakuno’s overcome moment came off as cliched. But because they made Leo such smug smeg head, it made Hakuno’s victory feel good.

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

In the end, Fate/EXTRA Last Encore 12 still has a ton of blather. But it has some fun action, even if there are cliched moments. But I did like Hakuno and Nero together in limbo. And now to the finale.
