Fate/Grand Order -絶対魔獣戦線バビロニア- Episode 12
Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majū Sensen Babylonia ep. 12

SPOILER Summary/Synopsis

Gilgamesh’s death causes Merlin to freak out for a moment. It is believed that Gilgamesh’s soul is now in the underworld. However, the group is stunned when they learn that the goddess Ereshkigal, not Ishtar, is the third member of the Three Goddess Alliance. Although Ishtar didn’t realize it, when she was summoned, Ereshkigal was summoned as well. And likely, both inhabit the same human body–Ishtar during the day and Ereshkigal at night.

Since Servants have no power in Ereshkigal’s domain, they cannot help. However, Mash as a Demi-Servant can apparently go down with Ritsuka. Ishtar agrees to get them into the underworld since she’s been there before. The trio and Fou enter the underworld, where they see cages with souls in them. The trio encounter a gate on the path, which challenges them with a question on who’s better–Ishtar or Ereshkigal. Initially, Ritsuka says Ishtar, after she threatens him. But when the gate punishes Ishtar, he changes to Ereshkigal  and they are allowed passage.

At the last gate, Ishtar has been reduced to the size of a Barbie Doll. Gilgamesh emerges, after hiding his presence from Ereshkigal. He’s amused by Ishtar’s plight. However, they pass through the final gate to Ereshkigal’s “palace.” There, a giant, undead skeletal thing arises to challenge them, calling itself Ereshkigal.

Thoughts/Review

I’m a little behind, but now I’ve finally watched Fate/Grand Order Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia 12. And I’m glad to continue this series.

Three Goddess Alliance

One of the plot twists in Fate/Grand Order Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia 12 is to have Ishtar not be a member of the Three Goddess Alliance. Unfortunately, this came off to me as having a plot twist ’cause “reasons.” That’s mainly because the story has implied that Ishtar is one of them.

I’m not even sure what this bloody alliance is for. But maybe that’s explained later.

Gilgamesh

One thing I do know from the Fate/Grand Order game is that Gilgamesh is a Caster Servant. So with that in mind, how is it that Gilgamesh “died” in a normal, human fashion? A Servant shouldn’t die in a human manner and leave a body behind. So I’m not sure I understand this element.

Its been ages since I fought that undead thing that showed up at the end of the episode. But we’ll see if Gilgamesh has any way of fighting.

And finally, I did get a kick out of Gilgamesh having fun with the doll-sized Ishtar. That made me laugh.

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

In the end, Fate/Grand Order Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia 12 was entertaining and quickly brought me back into the story. I do have some questions, but hopefully those will be answered before the series ends.

I Cant believe we watch same show and YOU actually miss out obvious detail!! This Gilgamesh is still ALIVE AND JUST 6 MONTH AFTER HIS JOURNEY!.

Two things…first, I didn’t read the story in the FGO game. As such, I have no clue what the story is. I just know that in the game, Gilgamesh is a Caster Servant.

Second, I never spoil things for myself when it comes to story. The exception to this rule is when an anime is of something I’ve already read the source material it is being adapted from. But since I didn’t read the FGO story in the game, I have no clue about Gilgamesh being alive. 🙂

In anime, Merlin already explains that this era where Gilgamesh just finished his journey of immortality AT EP 2!. EVEN Kingu says the current king of Uruk is Gilgamesh AT EP 1!. That easy detail also YOU CAN MISS OUT! Like I SAYS, DO proper research before making blog as you make yourself look like a fool.
