Back when I lived in Japan back in the day, the Japanese were into things western to include hip-hop. Heck, some Japanese kids would pay BIG money to have a high top fade hair style (and remember, these Japanese don’t have a natural curl to their hair to accomplish this). So for giggles, I thought I’d see what was on YouTube when it came to some Japanese rap. There’s a lot of crap, but I did see this.
The group should called Grand Slam and the song “Fresh” but I’m not 100% about this (if you know, let me know). I don’t know how old the song is (finding information has been very difficult) but I like how this song sounds. It has a 90’s feel to me for some reason and has a nice, catchy background. And the rappers have a good flow to them, which always helps.
Anyway, I thought I’d share some “Nihongo Rappu” with you guys. If anyone knows anything else about these guys, please let me know.
I never heard of Japanese rap before. It sounds better than the American rap I’ve heard on the radio.
That’s what one of my co-workers said. ^_^ I’ll have to share another tune later from a different group (Japanese gangsta rap).
D.O is my favorite, and DS455 (KAYZABRO & DJ PMX).
But to list a few good ones: G.K MARYAN, YOU THE ROCK☆, RIP SLYME, OZROSAURUS(MACCHO), JASHWON. There are way more and ones I don’t even know about Japan has way better beats and flow than Lil Wayne and new rappers nowadays. They may not be taken seriously here in the States but over there it’s different.
I have heard some Ozrosaurus, but I haven’t scored anything by him yet. The others I’ll have to look up, assuming Japanese copyright Nazis haven’t purged the Internet of said songs. Thanks for letting me know. ^_^
