Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest 24
フェアリーテイル 100年クエスト
SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:
Gray and Hakune battle to a stalemate. However, Hakune puts Gray to sleep. In his dreamworld, he’s married to Juvia, has a kid, his father is alive, as is his mentor Ur, and her daughter, Ultear. However, because Gray’s true desire is to make Juvia happy, not himself, Gray breaks free of the illusion. Hakune summons a giant ice titan. However, Gray summons an army of giant ice knights and defeats Hakune.
Meanwhile, more Hands appear, creating monsters as Selene battles Suzaku. She learns that Suzaku’s guild master Georg was the one who defeated Kurunugi. Suzaku learns that Kurunugi was Selene’s son. Despite taking heavy damage from Selene, Suzaku manages to use a devastating attack on Selene. In desperation, Selene opens a portal to escape just as Natsu arrives. Suzaku disappears with Selene.
The Hands continue to appear. Wendy suspects they are similar to the Earthland Face weapons of the Magic Council. After Wendy verifies her theory, Lucy summons Virgo to tunnel them to where the main body is. There, they find the entity known as Alta Face. Although Alta Face had been sealed, Selene had unleashed the living weapon. To that end, Natsu and the others vow to take it down.
Thoughts/Review:
Ice vs. Ice gets things started in Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest 24. The fight itself wasn’t interesting. What was interesting was the temptation of Gray. Once again, Mashima-sensei finds creative ways to bring back old characters for cameos. Ultear had already returned as a memory of Jellal’s. However, I did like seeing her again in Gray’s dream world. Further, Gray’s dead father was there, as well as his dead mentor, and Ultear’s mom, Ur. I’m sure Gray would love living in a world where they are alive.
That said, the icing on the cake was Gray’s family. This is how Mashima-sensei gets Juvia to return as well. Only this time, Juvia and Gray are married and they have a son. Obviously, this is a world that Gray would love to live in. However, Gray’s desire to make Juvia happy was greater. As such, Gray living in this fantasy would would not make the real Juvia happy. I respect that.
As to the battle between Selene and Suzaku, I previously mentioned that I felt Kurunugi would be Selene’s son or daughter. Turns out, it was his son. So yeah, no wonder Selene gave off that mama bear vibe. Regardless, what shocked me was Suzaku revealing that he didn’t even kill Kurunugi. The Diabolos guild master did and let Suzaku eat Kurunugi. Wow! I have to believe Georg consumed some of Kurunugi as well. Maybe he slew all the dragons in Diabolos.
Nevertheless, Suzaku did land what seemed to be a terrible blow to Selene. Suzaku has orders to take her to Georg. However, the episode is unclear on whether Selene teleported them away or what.
Final Thoughts and Conclusion
In the end, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest 24 was a fairly entertaining and enjoyable episode. I rather enjoyed seeing Gray’s perfect fantasy home life. And I’m rather curious to see if Selene is truly defeated. As to Team Natsu getting ready to fight Elentear’s version of Earthland’s Face, can’t say I’m really that interested in this fight.
