Well, Kotaro and Natsumi finally kissed. Man, is Chizuru gonna be jealous when she finds out (or maybe Kota gets himself a mini-harem?). I guess this confirms Kota does have the requisite magic power to form a pactio despite being primarily a ki user. Maybe his species (is he a youkai or a werewolf?) is inherently magical in nature even though he never became a mage himself.
While I’d like Akamatsu-sensei to detail the requirements for making a pactio (we know the procedure already ^_^), there’s still a lot of plot to cover, and while I like this love-love kisu-kisu pactio-making business, I crave more drama and action. Serious stuff next week, I hope.
Quite interesting she has her seat number on pactio card. Looks like these numbers are more related to 3A as whole then to respective magister magi.
Kota is part of the dog tribe and has the ability to summon inugami dog spirits so guess that would be sort of magic o.O
Does anyone have any idea what her artifacts function is or would be.
So, Kotaro got his first magister magi as Natsumi. So the other partners for him would be Madoka & Chizuru.
I think that Natsumi’s pactio card is not the only pactio in this chapter. I have a feeling that we would see another pactio in this chapter.
All the girls have their seat numbers on their cards.
No, not all. Mana have 1 for number. Though her pactio is from before 2A/3A.
I just noticed something. In the 3rd pic (where we see Nasumi slip) it seems her dress is torn (you can see her stockings there). Could something have happened to her.

That artifact is most likely similar to what we saw in the first anime series. Did you forget that Natsumi is in the drama club? She’ll probably be able to take on “roles” and imitate those “roles” perfectly. If that’s the case, the “ordinary” Natsumi should be able to provide Kotaro with some decent support.
The only thing i can think of is remember a few chapters ago when Rakan was looking at Negi (Nagi) and the group and saw himself in Kota. Seeing how Rakan has no weakness and can use magic. Kota is well versed in magic. he help Negi in the Mahro Budakai. sorry if the spelling is wrong.
Bonus points to the people who thought Natsumi’s pactio artifact would be related to acting and/or disguise. (^_^) Especially the Anon in the last thread who predicted it would be a mask.
Actrix timida could be translated as pretty much what it looks like – timid actress.
I’d have gone with histrionica trepida, myself – but I can understand why they’d want something that looks familiar to people other than ancient-language scholars. This isn’t necessarily an indication of Latin quality degenerating yet. (Timida would have been more insulting, closer to “afraid” or “cowardly” in the original Latin, and actrix has a more general definition of “female who performs an action.”)
mana’s card does not have the seat number on as she formed a pactio with a different magister which means the contracter would have had a different design, it could also be because her magister is dead and the card changes when the magister dies.

I think natsumi pactio ability just like shiori. I mean she can transform to another person. She is an actress right?
@arimeji: I think there are other reasons for the cognate-like latin. At first, I was like “oh my god here is Negima latin without their translator” but you’d think Akamatsu would prepare to have all the pactios finished beforehand, so I think it’s just personal preference.
So… who’s next and when? is KA going to go for a pactio a chapter until the battle harem is complete (what I’d guess), or are things going to switch to crazy-action battles?

@orion other reasons for the cognate-like latin… I think it’s just personal preference. ~ Quite. I had a bit of a time with it myself, considering histrio is masculine due to the fact all “serious” Roman actors were male. I’d have been much more worried about translation quality if they’d gone with the amusing false cognate histrix timida.
Hey, English isn’t my native language either, but that doesn’t mean speaking or writing in english is silly. So restrain from rude coments, arimareiji.
And regarding the latin prefernce, I belive it depends on how much the partner depends on the Magister.

@fg7dragon – My apologies for the misunderstanding – next time, I’ll put (sarcasm)(/sarcasm) tags in and not just a (^_~). I thought that it was flamingly obvious, but apparently it wasn’t.
I was referring to the fact that we’re discussing a manga that’s written in another language, Japanese. Not English. So it should be self-evident that knowing multiple languages is a GOOD thing.
Criticizing people who come here and have made a lot of effort to learn another language (English), when most of us haven’t put nearly as much effort into learning the language of the subject we’re talking about (Japanese), is silly at best. Blockheaded and chauvinistic at worst.
About preference – what orion and I were talking about was the preference of the Latin translator in which words to use. I would have chosen histrionica trepida, but I’m not going to say the translator was wrong to choose actrix timida. The choice is based on the meaning of the words, not the relationship of the Magister and Minister.
@Zefyris: I don’t necessarily mean people who don’t natively speak english, but more bad grammar/syntax. Your English is great, by the way.

Dragon is right ….and Natsumi has her pactio ok I hope the next chapter will finally go on with the action. Im thrilled that these girls got a pactio but I can’t wait to know what happened to Rakan and whats the Governor planing.
Reading whats in the first post, theres a couple of kanji I dont recognise, but as mentioned before its a list of 3-A class members followed by numbers, under the heading ‘Kotaro’s ________’. If made to guess I would say its something along the lines of the ‘love-love ranking’ which Kamo did for the Negi-harem, but for Kotaro… though confusingly, Natsumi has a score of 5, and Chizuru has a score of 400… so maybe its something else.
@staszekgiers – I’m a little confused, could you explain what you meant with your first sentence?

And no, thanks for the compliments but my english is far from great, especially when it comes to grammar ;p. I know this as a fact, and I’m annoyed by it, but unfortunately my plans to learn more about english (I do have some, yes, really) will have to wait until I “master” japanese. I don’t have the time to learn two languages simultaneously :'(.

Although you’re right, I can’t think how that list could be right with Natsumi’s number so low.
@Zefyris my english is far from great, especially when it comes to grammar ;p – You’re almost always very clear and understandable. Definitely more often than me. Isn’t that the primary purpose of language, “to communicate ideas”? Not “to win points on some school test”. (^_~)
And even on that front, your grammar is still better than what I see from the majority of native speakers on the Internet.

@staszekgiers: Hm. I didn’t think about how that could have happened until just now, but that is possible. If you started writing before ANB approved the batch of comments which ended with orion’s (just above yours), and didn’t finish until after those comments were posted – that would explain why your comment wasn’t posted until the next time comments were approved, and why you really wouldn’t have seen it even though it was posted before you hit “Publish”.
The only clue would have been that the comment count would have gone up. If it had been me, I might have not noticed that either. (^_^)
I do need to get my humor detectors recalibrated, because I thought the “That’s just silly” post was very obviously a playful contradiction of the original criticism. Not trying to amplify it.
Wow…Kotaro-kun made a pactio with Natsumi-chan. I mean it’s okay and all but then I think about Negi-sensei. He made pactios with like nearly half the class(or more,)isnt that like weird? OMG! Negi-sensei kissed like 14 girls or more?! Oh and its possible that Natsumi-san’s atifact is sorta like her one in the anime.
Is there a little bit of a mistake there? Where’s the ”s” in Natsumi’s name? o.O
