Wouldn’t it just be a hoot if this chapter were Kurt’s fantasy of what should have happened?

  2. AstroNerdBoy says:

Well, that would be funny and yet I can already tell many would be extremely frustrated as well. I think it will end up being true but then the big question will be, “Where does Nagi hide Arika?”

  3. Not quite the entire manga as you can see a picture of Asuna has been cut off in the bottom Takamichi picture

As for the truth of the story, I think that for the most part we can trust what we have been told but I would not be surprised if some important details have been missed so that Negi is more likely to be convinced to do what Kurt wants.

  4. ThE_TemPLaR says:

Well, Chao was able to use time transportation magic, making them disappear for such a time.
And Eva was able to put vast fields into small objects so the possibilities are huge, even more for such a Magister.

Anyway, looks like a bit Asuna with its bells in the left page of the last picture.

  5. AstroNerdBoy says:

The Asuna image I think is advertising.

  6. veron says:

yup the asuna pic is advertising, you can tell cause the last pic as the to-be-contiuned mark at the end

  7. arimareiji says:

If we’re doing silly conjecture, wouldn’t it be a hoot if Asuna = Arika as well as Negi = Nagi?

Sure, there’d be a lot of troublesome details to iron out, but the Negi/Asuna shippers would be ecstatic. (^_^)

(The Negi/Nodoka shippers like myself would be crushed, but there’d be no way around that if Negi = Nagi anyway.)

Tell me I’m not the only one hearing Rie Kugimiya’s deredere mode tsundere voice for Arika in this chapter, especially the last frame of the first picture… “Mou~~”

  9. mastermack0 says:

next page is just an AD.

  10. Astrojensen says:

Yay! Let’s have a rescue party! Who wants to join?

    *Looks at the kissing scene*

Ooooooh! I am *so* looking forward to the scanlation!

  11. Going off topic slightly I just realised that if this occured 2 years after the end of the war then it probably occured 18 years earlier.

Another event which is stated to occur 18 years before the current events is the sealing of Ryoumen Sukuna No Kami by Nagi and Eishun. (Chapter 47). This makes me wonder if Ryoumen Sukuna No Kami was unleashed by MM in an attempt to get at Arika who could have been hiding at Eishun’s if this occured after her rescue.

  12. AstroNerdBoy says:

That is an excellent point about Ryoumen Sukuna no Kami. Whether it was to get Arika or not, there was some reason to unleash Sukuna and considering that the Senate was behind the annihilation of Negi’s village, it is not unreasonable to assume that they would have been behind summoning Sukuna, whether to get Arika or to possibly punish members of Ala Rubra for rescuing Arika.

Man, I’d love for Akamatsu-sensei to address this.

  13. Hah! I knew Nagi would come in and save the day. All of Ala Rubra has a Big Damn Heroes moment too (there’s a lot of those in this series). As to how Nagi flew in despite Cerberus Canyon’s supposed magic nullification, they did mention anti-anti-magic wards in the last chapter, so maybe he used one of those.

About Sukuna, that’s a pretty good theory. It would explain why it was sealed in Kyoto. Of course, Eva completely owned it during her own BDH moment in the Kyoto arc. Makes you wonder if she really is the most powerful being in the series, if MM sicced Sukuna on AR & Arika, they must have assumed it was powerful enough to get through them and kill her, and they know how tough Ala Rubra is. Yet Eva kills it in one shot. Evangeline McDowell = Do Not #%@* with. If you hear “Lic Lac La Lac Lilac,” RUN!

Oh, and early spoilers are early. And they’re only missing a few pages. Kinda generous this time, weren’t they?

  14. AstroNerdBoy says:

Its make up for those two weeks of no spoilers. ^_~

As to Eva and Sukuna, you’ll note that this youkai never really moved after being summoned. Before it could be unleashed, Chachamaru had a barrier placed around it and Eva simply cast a most powerful freeze spell and shattered it. I think that were the creature unleashed, Eva would not have had such an easy time of it, though I think she would have defeated it nonetheless.

Sukuna is listed in chapter 237 as having a power rating of 8000 and Fate is listed as being even greater than that. Eva and Nagi are clearly above that as well. Now, if the Senate had Sukuna sent to attack Kyoto (say to get to Arika), they likely did not expect Nagi to be there. I’d guess based on what we know from volume 6 that Nagi was the deciding factor in sealing Sukuna then by defeating it. That’s not to take away from Eishun, but as we saw, he was no match for Fate and I doubt he would have been able to single-handedly take on Sukuna. Once defeated, he would be able to reseal Sukuna though (why they can’t kill the creature outright, I do not know).

Anyway, I do agree that Eva is mega powerful which is why Akamatsu-sensei has used her only once to bail our heroes out of the fire. The great thing about him using her in volume 6 is that he had a way for her to help without violating her normal “I really don’t care about any of you” attitude (though clearly she does to a degree).

  15. well I can’t wait for the next chapter !

  16. Chii says:

Even though I can read Japanese I still have a hard time figuring it out…(still learning) Nagi sure made a scene (kissing Arika like that) Whoa….

  17. arimareiji says:

Just a thought about the various fights we’ve seen: Like in real life, who gets the drop on whom can matter almost as much as relative power levels.

There are limits, of course. It’s pretty fair to say that no matter how well-prepared the cheerleaders are, they’d get owned out of existence by Fate unless they caught him sleeping. But we’ve seen Asuna draw blood from Eva, Negi fight Rakan to a draw, Yue take down a dragon, etc because they caught them off guard or had well-executed plans.

  18. Orion says:

@arimeji: Yeah, especially the last two. They had practically planned out the entire battle. The Sukuna probably would have been tough for Eva to beat if she hadn’t OTK’d it.

From the power rating of 8000, it was just easy to beat because Chigusa was being stupid and yelling “who’re you?!” instead of attacking. It doesn’t really matter how powerful your gun is if you don’t fire it.

(though it always made me lol how she thought she could crush all the western magi from beating a ten-year old apprentice mage)

When does Negima Chapter 269 come out in English?

  20. Anonymous says:

i think there will be a fight scene between the general and takamichi because earlier in the magical world arc, right after the gate was attacked, takamichi and tatsumiya mana appeared but we havent heard from them since. in the last page of the chapter it looks like the general is arguing with takamichi about something,
