Azumanga Daioh and Yotsuba&! News (SPOILERS!)
Hey gang. Man, it has been YEARS since I posted any spoilers here. However, this one is pretty amazing since the spoilers for chapter 114 of Yotsuba&! just appeared in the wild. Thankfully, @PicoSpicy posted the leaked Yotstuba&! spoilers on Twitter/X. So if you don’t want a spoiler (and who knows when this chapter will come out in book form since chapters are released so infrequently any more), don’t look below!

Azumanga Daioh character KASUGA Ayumu, better known as Osaka, shows up as an adult in Yotsuba&! Chapter 114!
Hilariously, Miura addresses her as Osaka-sensei. 😂
This follows up on a joke in Azumanga Daioh, where Osaka says she could be a teacher.
And now, Azuma-sensei follows up on that joke after all these years. Wild!
So if you read the spoilers, what do you think? Let me know in the comments!
I love the fact that she’s not just a teacher, the furigana confirmed she’s Osaka-sensei. Not Kasuga-sensei, Osaka-sensei. XD
Random tidbit of not-likely news, but just in case: If you hadn’t already heard of (and probably bought) Azumanga – The Kiyohiko Azuma Anthology, I bumped into the fact it exists at one of those dreaded black-flag-hoisting websites and thought of you. The description says it features gag art he did for Tenchi Muyo! and Magical Girl Pretty Sammy, as well as Battle Athletes and El-Hazard.
(I can’t speak to its contents since I haven’t looked, but fair warning: One of the genre labels is “Ecchi”. Though with changing mores, that might be nothing worse than a panchira.)
Haha! Yeah, that was funny when Miura called her Osaka-sensei. It is a shame this manga gets released so infrequently.
I was unaware of this Azumanga – The Kiyohiko Azuma Anthology book. I need to check into it.
Update: Haha! I see it JUST got added.
Huh. For some reason I didn’t think to verify that the 1998 publication date I found on the AZD fandom page… was in English. It looks like it wasn’t. (^_^)˚
(That was why I mistakenly thought you must already have it.)
From just a cursory search it doesn’t appear an English version is available to buy, if it ever was.
I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen this kind of publication (even though I think Pioneer originally commissioned it) turned into official English. I’m shocked someone scanlated it, though I’m not a fan of everything being a 2-page spread.
