No spoiler images have arrived yet. In lieu of that, here are the first SPOILER rumors from the upcoming UQ Holder chapter 40 courtesy of Hata. (My review of UQ Holder chapter 40 should come out Wednesday.)
UQ HOLDER CHAPTER 40 SPOILERS
The UQ Holder chapter 40 goodness begins.^_^
From Hata:
C40
— color page, Tota+Sakurame
— Tota vs. Fate, Tota is able to scratch Fate.
— Tsukuyomi is full body cyborg like Ameya.
— Fate getting serious and rolling Tota.
— Sakurame able to disengage petrification spell.
— the first meeting between Fate and Eva in 30 years.
(so what is the deal with Nagumo’s 20 years ago? people had confirmed that was in book 3)
(I am guessing the color page will be the cover of book 4.)
Well, I totally didn’t expect Tsukuyomi to be a cyborg. I really did think that her use of the Hina Blade would be the cause of her immortality, but there you go.
Fate getting serious and spanking Touta? Color me excited. ^_~
Kirie dropping the petrification spell — I’ll be interested to see how she does this. I was thinking her magic pill of death would activate on a delayed basis, causing her to reset.
Some of you called it regarding Eva returning. Assuming this is true, this could be quite interesting. I doubt there’s a fight in this chapter, but we’ll see. Whether in this chapter or the next, I’m hoping we learn for sure if Eva has been weakened or not.
Well, that’s it for now. I’m keeping my eye’s open for spoiler images from UQ Holder chapter 40. Hopefully, some show up. ^_^;
More from Hata, first, addressing my surprise that Eva is showing up already.
to be technical, Eva did not show up, Fate appears in front of her. (the plan works, in the end.)
Ah. Well, that changes everything.
====================
2ch
stage 40 “That Time”Tota showing his skill with Gravity sword by alternating between 0 and 10,000 times,
Tota is able to penetrate Fate’s sand barrier and scratch Fate’s face with 500 tons sword.
Karin notice a number counting down on Sakurame’s hand, Tota believe Sakurame had not giving up.
Tota going close combat, Fate: “the end”.
Tota by holding down Fate with his 500 tons sword, calling all UQ together.
Sakurame’s hand number reaches zero, Sakurame begins to unpetrify.
Fate: “unpetrification app?”
everyone (Tota/Kuroumaru/Ameya/Karin/Fate) at the underground.
Yukihime: “first time in 30 years, Fate Averruncus.”
Interesting that Eva was waiting for them in the underground. Maybe this is were Fate goes from being an opponent to an ally again. *lol*
Again, I’m keeping my eyes open for UQ Holder Chapter 40 spoiler images.
I`m excited for that Fate and Evangeline reunion….. As for Touta being able to scratch Fate ..No surprise… Though that kinda ticks me off….
Ditto. ^_^ I am wondering if Eva returns to her true form, or if she stays as Yukihime.
what does it mean to be on book 3 or 4? im kinda confused @_@
The tankoubon book cover art for UQ Holder. Akamatsu-sensei’s color art page for this chapter is likely to be the cover book art. Which volume cover art it would be for (assuming it is used for the book cover) is unknown.
Taking into account Tsukuyomi’s past obsession with Setsuna in Negima and how in the final chapter it mentions Konoka and Setsuna having constant encounters with her, I can see it being plausible that before the Hina blade could reach a point of possession that would cause immortality that she would come to the conclusion or being put into a position that she needed to become a cyborg.
Now that she’s supposed to be a cyborg, I figure she may have been seriously injured by Setsuna-Konoka (and maybe even Negi), thus her only option to stay alive was the cyborg route.
Also, if this next chapter ends the way I mentioned I hope it would if Eva was to make an appearance I’ll be super stoked! I just wanna see a hand pop up out of a shadow to stop Fate’s damaging blow and it ends as Eva floats out of the shadow as she mentions its been 30 years since last they’ve met.
Doesn’t look like that’s how it will be, but I am looking forward to their reunion.
so, is it 20 or 30 years?? maybe there is some kind of mistranslation going on? well, with Eva showing up that kind of makes my previous theory go up in smoke… Oh well, guess we will see what happens.
This is the big question that’s going on with fans. The 20/30 year thing is either a mistake, or Akamatsu-sensei is dropping some sort of clue.
The current manga is set in year 2086 and Negi Springfield supposedly died in year 2065. Touta is 14 years old meaning he was born 7 years after Negi death in 2072 and has quite a number of knowledge regarding his grandfather… Which seems strange if Negi Springfield had died before touta was born, though touta could have heard stories.
Also apparently in 2076 magic was first publically announced
I’m starting to think that the year discrepancies are due to Kirie. But I could be WAY off on that.
So, is Eva contractually obliged to show up to save Touta once an arc now? Seriously, she only did it for Negi twice, and that was with a span of more than 200 chapters between both events. By now she’s done it the same amount of times for Touta before we’ve even hit the 50 chapters mark.
Between this, Karin being returned from the freaking Moon, and Kirie no-selling a spell from The Greatest Mage in the Solar System, it never looks like UQ Holder is seriously challenged. Every time something pops up that actually makes it look like they are in deep trouble, they LOL NOPE it before even two chapters more have passed. From Touta spontaneously developing ME to this, it’s just like… I don’t know anymore.
As it turns out, Eva didn’t save them. That aside, Eva is more of a strong supporting character in this one vs. her role in Negima. So I’m not surprised that she’s going to show up more and be more involved in things.
This is the problem when your cast of characters are all immortal. It is extremely difficult to put them into any serious trouble. Sensei did show what could happen to them in a worst-case scenario, so if Kirie isn’t around to bail them out with a reset, bad things could still happen.
Basically, I see UQ Holder as a way for Akamatsu-sensei to skirt whatever rules govern violence in shounen manga by making everyone immortal.
So yay, Eva is a salve that can now resolve any and all of our hero’s problems when it looks like they might *GASP* lose. Until she gets punked by some overly convenient plot device that will take the last remaining member of 3-A out, because thats almost inevitable.
See, that’s the problem with Eva, characters like her only work best when they’re supremely disinterested in everything around them so they don’t provide an “I WIN” button for the hero’s, and in the blue moon they do show up at, are actually worth the snuff the story touts them to be.
Still want UQ Holder to drop off the face of the earth and take Touta with it where it can be shanked repeatedly by angry demon clowns or something.
” Still want UQ Holder to drop off the face of the earth and take Touta with it where it can be shanked repeatedly by angry demon clowns or something. ”
LMFAO ! Thats funny..
We don’t know that Eva will resolve anything. In fact, although Kirie’s plan will work and Fate ends up in the dungeon with the rest of the crew, that doesn’t mean Fate is beaten. I can see Fate bringing some pain before bugging out.
Oh goody, Eva gets to bail Touta’s ass out. Again. At least he doesn’t succeed in punching out Fate, but I want to see a full blown failure here. Again, just an itty bitty slap on the wrist at best. Gah.
Can this series take go pile drive itself into a field of burning cactus’s yet? Because Akamatsu thinks this is a sustainable template for a story is beyond me. For gods sake, I’d rather read a story centered around Chamo or something.
Then we learn to find out that Chamo is still alive somehow.
*lol* Well, he was repeatedly referred to as an elf for some reason, so who knows.
I’m not ready to say that Eva gets to bail Touta out. Even down in the dungeon caverns, Fate should be able to pretty easily handle everyone if Eva is weaker than she was in Negima. If Eva hasn’t lost a step, things will be more interesting and they could possibly seal Fate up (or whatever).
I like Eva, so I tend to give her a wide pass. ^_~
Moderator note: this comment had to be edited for profanity and name calling.
OverMaster …why don’t you … drop this series already? All your over-exaggerated whining and bitching about the series wouldn’t really change anything. Yes, we all know Touta is a ****** main character and how this manga is inferior to Negima but for **** sake just move on. You know the funny thing is? You’re almost always the first person to comment on the latest chapter or even on a spoiler which kind of ironic for someone who absolutely hates UQ Holder and someone who constantly makes personal insults to Ken Akamatsu. … Ken is avoiding the new proposed Japanese law which has the possiblity of banning anime/manga with underaged fanservice hency why you don’t see ******* a loli panty shot on UQ Holder. The proposed law was only rejected until recently and also the so called law that allows publisher to have full rights over an author’s work. I’m sure you are aware of this but you choose to …(be someone)… who spreads hate on every forum you visit.
First, thanks for writing Ranzuki. ^_^ The moderation guys found your original remarks to be quite funny, which obviously wasn’t your intent since you are clearly irritated. But, your frustrations lead to an attack on OverMaster rather than just voicing a disagreement with OverMaster. As such, we had to edit it down.
I agree with this. I have long thought that this is why he ended up aborting Negima. I really wish I could have a long interview with Sensei on this topic, but alas, that won’t happen.
Anyway, I’m cool with spirited debates around here. Just avoid the name calling and insults, and we’ll be cool. ^_^
“Interesting that Eva was waiting for them in the underground. Maybe this is were Fate goes from being an opponent to an ally again.”
If you read what Hata said, everyone at the underground do not include Kirie (according to her own explanation she would be the sole one to respawn on the surface). So rather than Eva being there already, it’s probably Kirie who was on the surface called her.
Or maybe not! Reading the actual spoiler it does seems to indicate she was there.
Yeah, that’s what it sounds like. I guess we’ll have to wait for the actual chapter to come out to find out for sure.
As Fate himself would say, I’m not as bothered by this as I was before. Fate was just playing around A LOT, so as long as Touta gets completely and absolutely PWNED as soon as he gets serious, I can at the very least overlook the scratch thing(Back in the Kyoto field trip, Negi was able to hold him for an entire minute, based on his underestimation). And I’m more interested in seeing how this reunion with Evangeline will be. Well, my theory about Tsukuyomi has just been jossed! xD At least I was right when I thought Evangeline would show up. X)
I’m kinda hoping that there’s a reference to their first meeting in Kyoto.
UQ Holders chapter 41 :
Fate : He died because your fault !!!
Eva : want to clean your hands ? that was your fault !!!
Fate : YOURS!
Eva : YOURS! You stupid robot !!!
and something like that rest of 16 pages ^_^
What if Fate is still Evangeline’s comrade and all of this has been planned to test UQ Holder? No wait, this is impossibly unlikely. xD I like your theory, and I really want to see this conversation to see where this is going!
Well , Before this Arc began , It would seem that Evangeline knew what was going to happen when she saw Kirie`s save point.
She did seem to be well aware of what was going on.
I think that may be a bit far fetched, but if it comes true, feel free to remind me. ^_^
*lol* Well, Fate’s not a robot, but still…^_^
he is not human , nor animal or alien, half beast
Yep. He’s 100% artificial construct.
And a really freaking powerful construct at that. And the most Badass one XD
Very true. ^_^
it’s like both angel and siren have wings but calling angel a siren may end up a hole in your face :))
A very random thought… I haven’t followed closely enough to know if this is even possible, but what if Fate actually is still a good guy and it’s UQ Holder whose road is paved with good intentions? I’m just perverse enough (and fond enough of surprises) that this would genuinely get me interested again.
As much as I’d love for this to be right (UQ’s mooks seem to hint that there’s something going on behind the scenes, but it isn’t much), its still a hard case to make when one is more then willing to use Ala Alba for…whatever while slums and the like can be torched by evil rich people on a dastardly whim, whereas UQ Holder is trying to make their live marginally less shitty.
I’m all for it, even though I think its disconcerting something like that hangs in the balance with someone that detached leading people like Tsukiyomi around.
I think that at the very least, Fate sees himself as a good guy. It may be a case of is Fate’s plan the right one, or is UQ Holder’s plan the right one?
or both ?
would be more like manga made of Akamatsu sensei if both sides are right one and must decide by fists
Well, it certainly seems that way at the moment. ^_^
Chinese scans are out. Wow, the others did have their fights shafted badly so Captain Gary Stu could show himself up (half naked all across the place). Seriously, they only get like a big panel each of actually fighting. It was even worse than what Mana and Setsuna got in Old Ostia.
Man , At this point , I just think that Akamatsu-sensei just ruined Fate`s character…
I’ll wait to see what the English version says, but you could be right.
Well, if Sensei can’t draw strategically naked young girls all over the place, then shirtless boys will have to suffice. ^_~
I guess he’s more pissed off that the fanservice is almost non-existent. btw, i saw a comment about that certain law we all detest, did that pass or did it not?(the one about the underage fanservice and the manga/anime rights)
The Tokyo Metropolitan Ordinance Regarding the Healthy Development of Youths has been in place since 2010. Recently, the Japanese did pass a law against child porn, but the did eventually carve out an exception for anime and manga, which has activist angry.
From CNN:
I don’t know whether the copyright laws were modified in a way that Akamatsu-sensei opposed or not.
They only oppose it because they don’t understand the context of what he is talking about. though, in some cases it might lead some adult men to go and harm a real child…so i guess in certain ways I would understand if that was the Child welfare people’s concerns, but if they don’t give an actual reason, then their argument would be invalid and they would just have to be more strict on the age level and who buys the manga, which would hurt the industry a little. But in all it could just be accounting for the psychological and mental damage it does to people.
If any of that makes sense.
It made sense. ^_^
Chapter 40 came out as you said, on Wednesday (Today)
^_^
