UQ Holder Chapter 90 SPOILER Info (Update #3: More info, now with images!)

Here is some SPOILER info for the upcoming UQ Holder Chapter 90, courtesy of 2ch. (My review of UQ Holder Chapter 90 should come out Tuesday or Wednesday.)

UQ HOLDER Chapter 90 SPOILERS

The UQ Holder Chapter 90 goodness begins.^_^

This looks to be Chapter 90’s spoilers.

修行の成果

刀太はフラフープの構えで敵の雷槍を受け止めるとその威力を全身にまとい
敵の刀を奪い取り一刀両断

■”最強”へ一歩近づく!!

I’m not sure if this is legit or not. This is a little early and a LOT short, but considering that Weekly Shounen Magazine took the break this week and not Akamatsu-sensei, I can believe that someone got an advanced copy. (It used to happen with Negima! during the double issues frequently, where we’d get a ton of spoiler images a week before the chapter came out.) If this is not legit, I’ll make updates accordingly.

Assuming it is legit (and we still need a proper Japanese translator to properly enlighten us on what’s being said), it seems that Touta gets Ruin Ishkur’s lightning spear and is closer to being the strongest.

I did note with some amusement that a Japanese fan on 2ch seemed to be mocking Touta’s continued super abilities that come easily and frequently. So if the spoilers are fake, I would guess they are further mocking Touta.

Anyway, I’ll keep an eye open for updates, whether a correction to the spoilers (if needed), or spoiler images. It wouldn’t surprise me if we got those early from MK as well.

Update #1: Translation time, first from Cube, then from ChamCham.

Cube’s translation:

Rough translation before I leave for work:

Results of Training

With his hula-hoop stance, Touta blocks the enemy’s lightning attack, and covering his whole body in that power he attacks the enemy

* Getting one step closer to “the strongest”!!

And ChamCham:

修行の成果
The result of training.

刀太はフラフープの構えで敵の雷槍を受け止めるとその威力を全身にまとい
Touta takes the stance from the Hula-Hoop (training), and stops the enemy’s lightning spear. His whole body is clad in (its) power.
敵の刀を奪い取り一刀両断
He snatches the enemy’s blade away and cuts him in two with a single stroke.

■”最強”へ一歩近づく!!
Getting one steps closer towards the “strongest”!!

This is why I always say we have to wait for the folks who actually know Japanese. ^_^

OK, now to wait for spoiler images. 🙂

Update #2: Here are the spoiler images from MK.

UQ Holder Chapter 90

Don’t know if the image of Super Touta with Eva is fantasy or a sign that he achieved the goal. I figure fantasy, but who can tell at this point.

Update #3: One more image, this time from 2ch.

UQ Holder Chapter 90

Well, assuming Crunchyroll can get the chapter out on time, I’ll try to read and review Tuesday evening (US time).

Hard to say if this is mocking the story development until now, or a genuine spoiler text. I can easily see it playing out like this however.

  3. Mattcgw says:

I still find it perplexing, that akamatsu-sensei is going the speed run Raken threshol, the way he is. Instead of a more legitimate mind wipe, in which touta relearn’s his skill’s. Al la Asuna flashback that allowed to use kankahō.

Instead we have what we have, make of that what you will.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

I think it is Akamatsu-sensei wanting to do a simple, action, shounen manga without worrying about the details.

  4. Enj says:

Asuna had magic cancel from the beginning which is pretty powerful in itself.

As far as Touta, at the moment this ability is really just redirecting attacks, it can be powerful against a strong opponent but at the same time might not help much if they just beat him into the ground. Now if on the other hand he can reproduce attacks at will once he’s absorbed them…

    • Dargor says:

Not really. Asuna’s MC was originally spotty and pretty much had no AoE capacity at the very beginning in the series, and pretty much banked on the enemy not knowing what the hell was going on. Hell, even we the viewer didn’t know entirely what was up until Graff came into the picture. Unlike here, we’ve never actually seen Asuna hit her stride in Negima except the last few chapters of Negima, and even then it was pretty much a taste.

      • AstroNerdBoy says:

Asuna started hitting her stride when they went to the Magic World. Her memories had started returning to her in greater flashes, and it was implied that her being on the Magic World was what was driving her powers and abilities up. We didn’t see her and Setsuna fight the dragon, but she was certainly a key factor in it being taken down. We got to see her really step up when she and Negi came in and saved Setsuna and Kaede. Of course, that’s when Akamatsu-sensei decided he had to remove her from the field of play because she’d be the ultimate defense to stop everything thrown at Ala Alba.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

Touta’s also using magic cancel. That’s why he has the yin-yang thing going as part of his power comes from magic cancel.

  5. NT says:

I think Ken needs to introduce a Jack Rakan type person and beat the endless shit out of Touta.
I mean, we never exactly seen Jack fight at full power… did we?

    • Dargor says:

He went all out against Negi, though mind you, Negi had to pretty much resort to completely baiting him throughout the entire match just to win. In sheer specs, Jack is still Negi’s superior due to relative experience and Rakan being able to flat out stonewall Negi entirely. Without Magia Erebea’s primary component, it would of been basically a draw in Rakans favor.

Still think our current lightning friend being anywhere near Negi’s potential is ludacrious. While it matches speed, its overall repertoire and comparative stratagem, which is what made Negi dangerous, is sorely lacking. Like everything else in UQ Holder (Dana, Fate, Complexio!Eva), they’re all pretty lackluster compared to any of the real top tier fighters in Negima.

      • NT says:

If anything, I’m guessing our friend here is about the level Negi was in his lighting form when he first fought Fate in Ostia, after fighting the Bounty hunters.

I thought he went all out for like a couple seconds and completely overwhelmed Negi?

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

I think Ken needs to introduce a Jack Rakan type person and beat the endless shit out of Touta

I think that was what Dana was supposed to be, at least at some level. She’s killed him a ton of times.

I mean, we never exactly seen Jack fight at full power… did we?

I think we saw it at some degree, when he fought Negi and Nagi.

      • NT says:

And Dana ended up screwing around, since she’s naught but a trainer while Jack was both trainer and fighter.
I guess there’s no way to get another Jecht/Jiraya/Kenpachi combination like Jack rakan..

And didn’t Jack say that the fight between him and Nagi went on forever?

        • AstroNerdBoy says:

And Dana ended up screwing around, since she’s naught but a trainer while Jack was both trainer and fighter.

Jack also screwed around, but I get your point. Jack got his kicks fighting. My impression of him was that Negi may have been the first person he ever trained. Dana, on the other hand, got his kicks out of putting special folks with potential through hell.

And didn’t Jack say that the fight between him and Nagi went on forever?

Something like that, which is why at the time, him and Negi being out of power but continuing to fight was kind of touching because it showed that Negi had reached the level of his father.

  6. NT says:

From the images, I don’t really see why Touta would be a Botched clone, not unless the results needed to be the perfect copy weren’t there? Thats clearly negi’s lightning form, though incomplete.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

More like a botched homunculus copy. I think the “botched” part is coming from the fact that Touta’s massive powers have been inaccessible, and he can’t cast spells or use magic.

  7. Aki says:

That better not be raiten taishou he using… Touta does not deserve that level of form or power yet…

    • NT says:

If it is, then it’s only a incomplete raiten taisou.
But i’m assuming it’s possibly the Agilitas Fulminis form used when Negi absorbs Jovis Tempestas Fulguriens.(the form that he used against the bounty hunters and Fate when asuna was taken)

Raitan Taisou 1 and 2 use the Thousand Lightning Bolts.(2 he absorbed 2 Thousand Lightning Bolts)

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

      Heh!heh!heh! 😉

  8. Mattcgw says:

Called it, but it appears that there’s no incantation. So Reality warping or vampirism acting like stem cells and differentiating into elemental energies; then charging until they equivocal to the spell, EG Thousands Thunderbolts. Then Equipping/armament. The result Raiten Taisō:Touta edition.

Although, I do strongly suspect that Touta’s main Armament will be Fire. It’s for effective against lower rank Immortals to burn their body, since most are fundamentally hard to kill. While giving Touta A “spiked shield” so to speak. Against the higher rank immortals, who will most probably be a lot more faster then Touta. (I’m rather in visioning it as Diablo III Thorn)

The Fire/Ignis Armament will also Prevent him from being Incinerated by every Elite he fights in a couple of arcs.

    • Aki says:

Touta still not able to generate magic… All he did was manage to absorb Ruin Iskhan power and entered a lightning mode.

      • Mattcgw says:

Which is magic, the whole point of Touta’s hoop training was to create balance between his dual-nature’s. So one hand can use magic and the other would cancel it.

        • Aki says:

Yeah creating his own magic (generating spells) is one thing being able to use magia erebea is a different thing…

Magia erebia is based on the nature of Darkness Magic that consumes, hence it is a technique that absorbs external chi/magic or spells created by the user and turn it into their own personal weapon by buffing themselves up.

Just because he managed to absorb Ruin Ishkar’s lightning magic does not mean Touta is able to create his own spells or generate magical energy if anything his magic cancel is hindering him, from using Magia Erebea to its full potential (to produce a spell and absorb it into the body) passive absorption is a natural ability of magia erebea once the user has become fully bonded with it.

If touta is a immortal through the technique like Negi then he has the passive ability to absorb magic.

It possible magic cancel was hindering this natural ability to passively absorb but now that he sorted it out he should be able to to utilise armament as long as he can absorb enough of the enemy powers…

          • mattcgw says:

His magic cancel, should negate usage and activation of Magia Erebea full stop.

          • AstroNerdBoy says:

Magia Erebea is a technique, not a spell. That’s why he can use it, in my opinion.

          • Aki says:

Not really because Asuna would have just negated Negi Raiten Taishou II and Eva Queen of Ice during their final battle.

Magic Cancel although powerful has a few flaws of its own…

Something’s may not be entirely canceled out if it is to powerful instead it would take time to be worn down like asuna can be trapped in a block of ice and touta can be temporarily sealed with anti vampire magic,

also magic cancel has a weakness with internal effects… Magical effects that’s happen inside the user can’t be erase or totally canceled out for example asuna was affected by a love potion she digest and touta as seen was able to store external magic via absorbing it with magia erebea and storing it internally.

But remember magia erebea is not a generated technique but a technique that consumes and absorbs… (Most likely explaining it horribly…) touta has both Magia erebea and magic cancel from the beginning both source already exist within him… Magia erebea was being canceled out by magic cancel which weakened its effects until he lost consciousness and the power rampaged…

On another note magic cancel is magic that erases magic and that is being consumed by magia erebea thus limiting his potential to fully cancel out other users magic making it less potent than asuna.

Dana taught him to separate the two source of magic so Magia Erebea and Magic Cancel would not conflict with one another so now Touta should have the full effects of both skills but he does not possess the ability to produce magic just like Asuna.

He can make for this flaw with his now unhindered passive absorption power just like the immortal Negi was able to do

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

Although, I do strongly suspect that Touta’s main Armament will be Fire.

Touta’s powers are derived from Negi and apparently Asuna to a degree (unless Negi had a latent magic cancel ability). Negi was an air elemental user, which is why he did the lightning stuff. On one hand, I’d be surprised if Touta could use anything that Negi didn’t use. On the other hand, this is Super Touta, so he just needs to see a fire user in action and he’ll be able to do it. 😛

      • mattcgw says:

Well there was never any stringent ruling with Magi and the Elements they can use. Only preference. The Averruncus are the exception to this, but their just doll’s.

Point is, Incinerating an immortal’s body puts them off commission for extended period of time or kills them outright, since all the major Antagonist in Uq Holder! will be og a high degree of undying, it would be prudent to take the most effective means to win, in touta’s case.

  9. Seimei says:

Yeah I also think his armationem will fire.

After this is what I wrote on another forum about this following the release of the spoils:

“It should not be forgotten that Tota reproduces the same” pattern “that Negi Let me explain.:

Negi Negima begins in openly copied Nagi (even fighting style, even spells lightning and wind, BORDEL even its appearance is that of a mini-Nagi ^^) then discovers Negi ME and stands out from his father.

Tota follows exactly the same construction scheme. He begins by copying the achievements of Negi (Raitei-taiso) then he will use what he learned from Negi to create his own style.

With a friend that I “converted” to Negima and UQ had been well blocked theories about what would be the final authority at the end of Tota UQ, lorqu’on saw that he was fighting the ultimate spirit of lightning. And he said limit on the tone of the joke without much sérieu take what he said:
“Bah Tota will meet major minds of other items and take their powers like Ishkur.”

And then when I see it I think “BINGO!” Negi pushed his lightning ME up, so if Tota wants to do better now, he will have to create an ME which combines All elements !!!”

    • Aki says:

Yes but can Touta produce magic? His magic cancel is now in full effect and it is having affect on the magic around him.

Like asuna he is unable to produce magic himself as seen in chapter one. His training with Dana was to split his magia erebea and magic cancel and make full use of their ability.

He is able to absorb Ruin Iskar lightning magic because it is coming via magia erebea as we know Negi gained the ability to passively absorb magic when he became immortal.

As for fire magic…chao lingshen had to artificially generate and produce magic,,,, I mean touta can’t even use apps cause of magic cancel.

  10. Seimei says:

After I had paid no attention but the lightning magic has not channeled through Tota … but through his sword !!!

And that alone is already very original compared to Negi in fact!

It’s the first time we see a fighter used magic through his weapon rather than through incantations or even his own body (which is the normal use of the ME) and it is very cool!^^

  11. dominic says:

Interresting do you think touta will gain other elemts too

    • Seimei says:

Yes it is very likely. If he wants to surpass the legendary Negi who pushed to its maximum control of the ME with an element (lightning) then it will control the ME with several items. And it would also be an opportunity to meet other major elemental spirits. ^^ I wonder what it’s like other elementary King? (excluding the King of Fire that we saw at the end of Negima (Quartum had invoked)).

  12. Seimei says:

yes, but it was only a side effect of Raiten Soso.
Here Tota seems to use the ME DIRECTLY on the sword, precisely because he can not produce magic (because of side effects from “magic cancel” because he does not control this capacity of whether he is a clone) bah he’s channeled the lightning magic through an object. Good idea anyway!

  13. asakuralee says:

It clearly says “Magia Erebea – Raiten Taisou” on the third image ;D (I know basic Japanese)

  14. Aki says:

    Full raw chapter is up…

First of all a lot of people are ditching logical reasoning for fanboy wishing and making ridiculous predictions of Touta entering Raiten Taishou of his free will by generating his own spell and loading it via Armarment and the ridiculous prediction he will develop his own elemental affinity and form.

Lets get this clear and out of the way… Touta has two source of magic that produce two different effects/technique, Magia Erebea and Magic Cancel.

One of the downside of Magic Cancel is that it cannot eliminate an internal magic so for those who say “Oh yeah… Magic Cancel would have caused Touta to never have Magia Erebea in the first Place…” well though, Magia Erebea already exist interally within him so it won’t cancel out entirely, it effects however can be weakened due to Magic Cancel which I will explain shortly. Another example is that Asuna Magic Cancel did not cancel out her own internal Chi or prevent her from using her own Chi to use Kankahou.

Another downside to Magic Cancel is that the user will not be able to cast his/her own spells as seen with Touta and Asuna possessing no affinity or ability to cast spell or use other magic items like Apps and brooms etc.

Onto Magia Erebea… the pro’s of this ability is if the user becomes immortal via this techinique they will become one with the skill and gain passive absorption. As seen with Negi being about to absorb Fate’s attack and come out unharmed in his base form (along with the power to regenerate his wounds) and with Touta he was able to take in some of Ruin Ishkar’s Lightning.

Now to explain why both abilities were not fully active… Magia Erebea is a ability that consumes things so it was attempting to swallow up Magic Cancel which prevents Touta from having the same degree of power as Asuna’s Magic Cancel. Magic Cancel on the other hand is the ability that erases stuff so the ability was attempting to cancel out Magia Erebea and was weakening the effects making it more of a dormant skill until it rampages out of control.

Now on to what he did with Dana… Dana taught him to balance out the two source of power and divide them so that they do not mix into one another and turn into one huge magical mess that renders his potential ability.

With his right hand, he can use the White Magic, Magic Cancel to erase and negate external magic.

With his left hand, he can use the Black Magic, Magia Erebea to absorb external magic which he can store it for use later on or load it via armament and make use of it in a power up form or throw it back out like he did with Dana’s ability, blasting the witch with her own rift powers.

The process of Aborption is different from Negi’s in the chapter Touta used his left hand to stop Ruin Ishkar’s spear, decompose it and absorb it to obtain a Lightning Form using the magical powers of his Halberd.

He then used his new found lightning powers to fight Ruin Ishkar and later on he caught the spirits Lightning Sword and stored it for later use.

This is the break down of his Yin Yang power… Right to Cancel/Negate and Left to Absorb, store/load and reflect opposing magic.

  15. Enj says:

Magic Cancel is kind of a precocious power anyway. Asuna could ride on Negi’s staff with him but Touta can’t ride on Kirie’s broom with her. Touta can’t use magic apps, but that gravity sword works just fine. When Touta used Dana’s spell against her he absorbed it with his left and recreated it with his right.

    • Dargor says:

Well, technically what Asuna had wasn’t magic cancel (Not the same as Ensis Exorcizans or the ravine Megalo decided to chuck Arika in anyway) technically, and she herself didn’t have full control over what it did and didn’t cancel out until much later in the series.

    • Aki says:

Actually no… If I’m not mistaken… Negi couldn’t take off with asuna or his staff would struggle and he would ask asuna if she was heavy which lead to gag gimmick.

In raiten taishou he could just fly and carry her but when using his staff he has never carried asuna or if he did the same thing would happen.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

Asuna could ride on Negi’s staff with him but Touta can’t ride on Kirie’s broom with her.

      She couldn’t in the beginning.

  16. Really? says:

Man Touta, I get you gotta play with the hand your dealt. Since he’s got Negi’s genes, obviously he would have some similar powers. But really Touta, really?? You had to go and use the same skill? I would have liked to see him use those new powers like, infusing just his arm with the electricity to speed up his sword wielding speed. To like mach 5, combined with high Class lightning attribute. Im just saying a 1,000,000 fold weighted sword slash at mach 5 combined with a 100 billion amp electric charge. Would be a ridiculous killer move. Especially if it were combined somehow, with magic cancel to make your opponent vulnerable. At this point, he doesn’t even need his sword anymore. I loved that sword, it was a bad ass sidestick.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

At this point, he doesn’t even need his sword anymore. I loved that sword, it was a bad ass sidestick.

I don’t think the sword is going anywhere.
