Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 251
Tonikaku Kawaii Fly Me to the Moon 251
トニカクカワイイ 251
Spoiler Summary/Synopsis:
On a summer night in 789BC, Mao wakes to find Tsukasa crying by a tree. When he inquires, she blows it off. She states that she remembers her friends who died with regrets. Even though she remembers them clearly, they are from long ago. She requests that Mao not have regrets like them.
Three years later, Mao complains to Tsukasa about the tedium of studying. She encourages him to keep at it. Mao leaves and wonders what he should have said years earlier when he found Tsukasa crying. He then discovers a scroll on shinsenjutsu–immortality.
A year later, Mao asks Tsukasa how many Buddhist texts there are. He realizes it is impossible to memorize them all when there are 84,000 sutras. Tsukasa knows a technique called the Kozuuzou-Gumonji. She advises he not use it as it has extreme requirements, including chanting a mantra 10,000 times a day. To that end, she encourages him to just do his normal studies.
Mao stuns Tsukasa by announcing he will use this new technique and thus live without regrets.
Thoughts/Review:
And so the backstory of Tsukasa continues in Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 251. I’m guessing the point of this story is how people Tsukasa save end up attempting to do the impossible for her. Thus they die with regrets as they could not fulfill Tsukasa’s wish. At the same time, these deaths weigh heavily on Tsukasa. Even if the people died of old age, they still died. Further, Tsukasa remembers her time with them as clearly as if it just happened.
Still, while I think I get the point of the chapter and this arc, I did find this chapter a bit boring. We cover several years, but it is always about Mao wanting to do something for Tsukasa, and finding school boring. Nevertheless, to make the point, Hata-sensei has to do this chapter. However, I do hope this Mao arc comes to an end sooner rather than later.
Final Thoughts and Conclusion
In the end, Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 251 is a boring chapter, but it is one that Hata-sensei appears to use to drive home the point about Tsukasa’s effect on those she saves.
