Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest 22
フェアリーテイル 100年クエスト
SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:
After giving Lucy a beating, Aquarius uses her water magic to force Lucy’s persona and memories back. One final spank forces Lucy back to human form. At the feast, this turn of events stuns Yoko. Lucy, Aquarius, and Natsu come upon Gray, who’s under attack from the giant tiger forms of Happy and Charle. Gray cannot bring himself to attack them or Wendy, so Natsu knocks Happy and Charle out.
Aquarius forces “poison” down Wendy’s throat, forcing Wendy to cast Raise on herself, which ends up removing her youkai condition. Now free, Wendy cures Happy and Charle. Erza shows up as a giant spider youkai, so Wendy cures her. Yoko trembles at Selene’s displeasure. Selene orders Yoko to make amends. As such, Yoko heads to the cavers and summons a hoard of endless youkai. One grabs Natsu’s muffler, so he chases it. Erza sniffs Yoko out and defeats her.
Elsewhere, Touka and Faris come to her Whiteout Village, which has been destroyed with dead bodies everywhere. Diabolos member Suzaku arrives, denying he did this. Touka senses he is from Earthland. The chief of the miko arrives with two miko bodyguards. She explains that she summoned Suzuka hear to deal with Selene. Further, no members of the village were killed as the slain were clone monsters.
Another wave of giant monsters show up. Suzuka effortlessly slays them. He agrees to go after Selene, but also will attack Fairy Tail if they interfere with him. He leaves, where he finds Natsu in the forest, who just recovered his muffler.
Thoughts/Review:
I guess it is the age of Aquarius in Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest 22. I’ll admit, I couldn’t help but laugh at part of her method for forcing Lucy to change back. What she did to Wendy also made me laugh. I should have known there was no chance that Aquarius would actually poison Wendy, but I got suckered in. So kudos to Mashima-sensei for that.
That said, I couldn’t help but kinda appreciate Team Natsu fighting a bunch of youkai. It would have been hilarious if Erza summoned Tessaiga and fired off a Kaze no Kizu attack (Inuyasha). Still, there’s no playing around with the fights. Just as everyone recovered in an anti-climatic form, the fights seemed rather quick and anti-climatic. Yoko turning herself into a four-armed Ohmagatoki was interesting, but then Erza has her “Thousand-Armed Armor” with six arms. Game over.
With Suzaku showing up in this world, Diabolos returns to the mix…again. However, now I understand why Mashima-sensei introduced him a while back. It is a way of keeping Diabolos around, but without the usual three we’ve become accustom to. I’m okay with that.
Finally, there’s Faris. The story has moved past her crimes, but I haven’t. However, I suppose it is safe to say she’s fully “redeemed” at this point. Thus she will be an ongoing ally for Fairy Tail from here on out.
Final Thoughts and Conclusion
In the end, I had some unexpected laughs in Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest 22, thanks to Aquarius’s attitude. While I don’t want fights to become tedious and boring, they are over rather quickly, making them kinda uninteresting. But I won’t complain too much about that.
