Since Korea woke me up to pass on some work-related info (the joys of being oncall), I see that Hata has the first appetizer teaser rumors for the upcoming UQ Holder chapter 43. (My review of UQ Holder chapter 43 should come out Wednesday.)
UQ HOLDER CHAPTER 43 SPOILERS
The UQ Holder chapter 43 goodness begins.^_^
From Hata via Baidu:
C43 start of a new arc
- location campus city
- mission investigation
- being cute Kuroumaru
- new character “last of”
No doubt we’ll have more information as Friday rolls on (which I’ll post after I’ve had some sleep). Still, “campus city” sounds a lot like Mahora.
Hata also provided this information about the tankoubon releases.
raw for book 2 and 3 are out, unless my memory is faulty (no time to check) there are differences in pages arrangement AFAICT, Karin’s arc is push back some so instead of one following another in blocks, it is interwind with Tota/Kuroumaru arc, I guess this gives a better sense of timing since they are supposed to happen at the same time, may be better overall, but not necessary IMO,
“20 years” check.
and no appendix. check.
Chaosprophet adds this.
I really miss some nice end of volume extras talking about characters and the story world, etc. UQH would benefit more of it than Negima as Negima stays for quite some time just focused on Mahora.
I agree. I’ve been very disappointed with the lack of extras in UQ Holder. Kodansha Comics adds insult to this by not having any translator notes either. One wonders if they’ll bother to correct the 20/30 year error or not.
Well, that’s it for now. I’m keeping my eye’s open for more spoiler info/images from UQ Holder chapter 43.
Update #1
Here are a couple of images, courtesy of Manga Kansou.
*lol* Yes indeed, Kuroumaru should just become a lovely girl already.
Oh, and it does look like they are at Mahora.
Ah. So mystery “kid” is finally making an appearance.
I’m betting we’ll have another update after ChaosProphet or someone provides a summary of the text from
Update #2 for UQ Holder Chapter 43. ^_^
From Hata, expounding on the bullet points from before, starting with the location of Campus City.
Amanomihashira (Heaven’s Pillar) campus city, the old Mahora
if there is any doubt, Karin’s uniform should settle it.
also the map supports it, the elevator is based at or not far from Mahora.
On the mission being an investigation.
undercover investigation of possible UQ candidate
On Cute Kuroumaru (who’s picture is above).
trying out Karin’s uniform,
On the subject of the new character “last of.”
last of the UQ from the UQ picture in chapter 1.
More information for UQ Holder chapter 43 if I get it. ^_^
I’m looking forward to seeing Mahora, I’d be surprised if the headmaster wasn’t someone we know from Negima.
That would be interesting.
So much nostalgia from that Mahora student dress.
Also , Good to see that hooded kid , I wonder if it really is Zecht , But probably not..
I’m thinking Zecht or the Gravekeeper.
Karin master plan : turn Kuroumaru to girl so she can have Yukihime-sama for her own
yet i overly bleeding to die from Kuroumaru cuteness overload T_T
Given the possibility that Kuromaru was already leaning towards being a Girl(just look at that pose in chp.43), this just makes it even closer. Also other than it being a conscious choice, I think he/she subconsciously is choosing to be a girl.
I agree.
I’m just saying, Kuroumaru should just become a lovely girl already. 😉
*LOL* Yes, that is the plan, and it started with a simple question in the previous chapter. ^_^
I got three guesses on who that hooded kid is; Fate. Zect(of course, that woyuld mean nagi saved him from the lifemaker somehow) or He is in fact someone who is directly involved with what happened to Negi. Otherwise he is some wort of possessed Negi.
Off Topic; I noticed something a while back, when Zect was the Life Maker he created Fate, well, i just noticed that on a ceratin level Fate bears a resemblance to Zect. What do you think?
I also used to think that maybe that hooded kid was Fate. But since he appears right after Fate’s arc, maybe the chance decreased significantly..? Other than Fate/Zect/someone-not-from-Negima, I like to think that he (or should I say, she) is the gravekeeper’s master.
Rather than saying Fate resembles Zect, I would say Zect resembles the Averruncus series. Well, even one of Touta’s friends has similar appearance to Zect/Fate..
I also remember I saw a panel in Negima where one of LM’s minion seemed to recognize Zect in their first battle. (Maybe Zect used to work with/under LM? Maybe he’s the model for Averruncus series? Maybe that panel doesn’t hold something significant? Who knows…)
Hmm…. the Gravekeeper can change appearance right? he/she did look like asuna when he/she made an appearance hmm… well, the Gravekeeper is a sort of immortal anyway so thats not too far fetched.
But the thing with Zect is that there is no indication of him being with the MotB, and fate was created after the MotB took over Zect’s body. Plus ever since zect appeared he was/is like the largest enigma of the series…almost anyway.
Who said that Grave-master can change appearance ? I think the reason why she looks like Asuna is because she is Asuna and Arika`s mother ?
She is actually their ancestor. Since she called Negi her descendant.
Yeah, she did didn’t she.
Asuna is centuries old whereas Arika is around Nagi’s age at the least. They certainly do not have the same mother (If the Gravekeeper ever had children to begin with. Royal families tend to be rather large as it is), and the age gap is to wide otherwise. We still know too little about Asuna and the Gravekeeper to pass judgement on them, but Arika is certainly out of the picture.
I’m not convinced this is Zecht (His body was most likely destroyed when Nagi faced the Lifemaker the second time) or the Gravekeeper though. This kid is probably not going to play ball with Holder initially, whereas Zecht and the Gravekeeper would either be doing their own thing or already with Holder to begin with.
If the Gravekeeper is immortal, then it is not out of the realm of possibility that she could be the mother of both Asuna and Arika.
Negi destroyed the Lifemaker once, but it didn’t destroy Nagi.
Possibly.
If the Gravekeeper is immortal, then it is not out of the realm of possibility that she could be the mother of both Asuna and Arika.
Unlikely, given that she would be Negi’s own grandmother, and probably wouldn’t bother to refer herself as one of Negi’s ancestors. The Gravekeeper has most likely been out of the loop for a long time given Ositia was usurped and Arika was the last in the line of succession for all intents and purposes. The connection to Asuna is obvious, but it a major stretch that she’d choose to give birth to another child centuries later. I don’t see anything to suggest a connection.
Negi destroyed the Lifemaker once, but it didn’t destroy Nagi.
Those two things have nothing to do with each other though. Aside from the presence of Negi’s ninth spell (And presumably Asuna, if this timeline is anything to go by), there’s nothing suggesting to me that Nagi would have done anything beyond smashing Zechts body to millions of itty bitty pieces, only to get ganked by the Lifemaker afterward. That was probably the entire crux of the plan, with Nagi playing as bait so they could immediately seal the MotB off immediatly afterward.
BTW, if you want to use actual quotes, you can use the HTML blockquote command.
<blockquote>Quoted text.</blockquote> 😀
True, but still not outside of the realm of possibility.
Well, Arika was probably there when Nagi face LM-possessed Zect. As a royal family of Ostia, she may have a certain power which would help against LM, albeit not as almighty as Asuna’s magic cancel. And we don’t even know how LM’s power works.
At this point, where we know almost nothing about AR vs CE 2nd edition after Secundum got eliminated/erased(?) by Fate, I wouldn’t say any possibilities completely out of question. Just prepared to be trolled anytime, lol.
I know everyone excepts this body possession ability of MotB as fact, but we’ve never actually been told this happens, nor have we seen this happen. While the theory may well be correct, it is still only a theory based on circumstantial evidence. 🙂
Yep. He was almost certainly immortal, based on the comments about his age and the fact that Jack said he didn’t think the “old youkai” would die, even if you killed him. There’s just a ton about him that we don’t know.
I wasn’t much of a fan of that theory back then but accepted it after Fate’s flashback (end of 325 onwards). While not something confirmed it’s solid enough for people to take it as fact.
I figure the theory will probably be born out, but there are still flaws in it. I’ve mentioned them, and generally, no one can explain the so I’ve stopped mentioning them.
But to me, Negi wasn’t alive until the manga came out and said so. That’s how I am with this body-hoping theory.
What flaws, if you don’t mind me asking? I’m not sure if I heard them before.
I shouldn’t have said anything since I don’t have time to explain. ^_^; That said, one of the main things that everyone seems to take for granted is that the MotB shows up in person to fight, bringing back to life all of the wiped out CE folks in the process. Even Eva and Jack are taken out of the picture because of MotB. MotB is revealed to be Nagi and Negi and Asuna kill him (only because of Asuna is this possible). So if they killed an illusion, then what’s to say MotB hasn’t used other illusions to fight with?
(I’m not doing myself any justice since I’m so pressed for time. Hopefully that made sense.)
What would be the point of the LM using an illusion to look like Zect when alone with only his minions? Or the surprised faces of Negi, Asuna and Eva when seeing LM with Nagi’s body (and also serious faces from Rakan and Fate) on chapter 334. And then on last chapter (355) Albiero says “You should be thankful, Nagi. Defeating the Lifemaker and releasing you (…) quite a surprise even for me”.
In any case, sorry for taking you time when you’re busy. In a future opportunity when you have time and if you you’re interested we could discuss more.
I don’t doubt that Nagi is the seal on the Lifemaker, for whatever that’s worth since MotB still managed to go forth and wreak havoc. ^_^;
In my mind, Nagi may have defeated an illusion LotB, after which Zecht reveals himself to be LotB.
Anyway, I’m no doubt wrong in all my thoughts here so. 😛
Not a problem. I shouldn’t have raised a controversial issue, more so since I’m fairly certain that the body-hoping theory will be proven correct. ^_^
Considering Zecht was called an “old youkai” (due to his age, and I suspect his not being human) and kept the appearance off a child, yet was a master, I’ve long thought that he was never what he seemed to be.
I think we can scratch Fate off the list since we know where he is. Zecht/Zect or Gravekeeper are my thinking.
All of the “Fate” brothers/sisters look very similar to each other, IMO. Zect had been around for a very long time (he was referred to as an “old youkai”), so if you are right, then the first one of that series was modeled after him.
If I’m not mistake zecht originally look like nagi and had his hair style but the tomboy princess (forgot her name QwQ) had cut it before their final fight with the first fate and the Mage of beginning
I never thought he looked like Negi, but he did look like a little boy and not some youkai immortal.

Touta is practicing swinging while remembering Fate words in the end (become stronger and come to the tower).
On the morning he goes to Eva’s room and asks for training. Eva asks if it’s because of Fate that he wants that suddenly.
Touta says he has a lots of questions about that. Like if Fate is really a bad guy as, according to his words, he wanted to save Touta’s grandfather and the world.
Eva says the “salvation” Fate speaks of is self-justified. If he really put his plans into motion then the Holders will also have to move in order to prevent it.
For now Touta just want to become strong enough to be able to get one blow on Fate. If Eva won’t train him then he would like if she could refer him to Jinbee (who is the strongest UQ from what Touta have seen) or Gengorou.
Eva says Jinbee wouldn’t do something that bothersome. And Eva aside, if you consider just power, then the stronger UQ is someone named 十蔵 (Juuzou?). Touta is surprised to learn that UQH is an international organization and that is the Japanese branch. Then she makes him go look for work as he has a big debt to pay.
The job is to look for an immortal who infiltrated and is hidden in a boarding private school. If possible invite that person to join the group, otherwise deal with him/her. They change into uniform, Kuroumaru gets a female one because of Karin.
Karin wants to things to go well between Kuroumaru and Touta as that would mean her (Karin) and Yukihime-sama’s relationship would also be at peace. Touta sees Kurou and ask him if he isn’t really a woman. He says that uniform fits him so much… that it’s gross.
Ikkuu replaced his body to a 13 year old for the mission and also is wearing an uniform. They head to the school, with Kurou changing his uniform to a male one. Kuroumaru is a bit restless as he never went to school before.
2086/9/1 07:55 AM
They reach the Amanomihashira Academy City. Kurou and Touta are surprised at the large number of students. At the top of a building, a suspicious person is watching (the cloaked person and likely our immortal).
Thanks for all the info. ^_^
awaiting for the translation for this chapter to come out
Yeah, I’m looking forward to it. ^_^
lol kuromaru is looking girlies chapter by chapter, looks like we can expect the girl route (though like I said a few chapter back, it probs be under comedic circumstances)
The little boy I originally thought was negi from chapter 1 colour spread… Then looking at it again… He could be a returning character from negima like zecht or some new person
I’m thinking Zecht or Gravekeeper.
I just noticed that the Mahora uniform is just a tad different from the original blazer outfit. It has a nice bow tie instead of a tied string around the neck. Also, the uniform looks a tad more formal…
Changes made over the years, no doubt. ^_^
Always great to see Mahora Academy. As for the hooded/mistery character i personally think it´s a new character.
You may well be right.
So mangastream is back with translation of uq holder and I’m loving the fact they sticking roughly to how magia erebea incantation is done.
Rays for chap 43 is out and it seems to be a mahora arc, kuromaru is becoming a lot like setsuna lol
My review will come out in about thirteen hours. ^_^
