For FUNimation’s Next Trick — "Gankutsuou: the Count of Monte Cristo"

Another of the predicted titles has come true as FUNimation has announced the license for Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo. I never read the original Alexandre Dumas novel in French or English and I never watched this anime adaptation of the classic novel. It looks weird to me and that alone doesn’t cause it to grip me. I’ve heard a lot of positive things about the anime, but I’ve also heard from those who’ve said it was impossible for them to get passed the stylistic visuals. I could read up more on it, but frankly I have such a massive backlog of anime as it is that I don’t need another title.
