SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

Ah! My Goddess Ch. 249 Manga ReviewAn irritated Lind attacks chibi-Hild for attempting to take Belldandy, Urd, Skuld, and Keiichi into Niflheim. Chibi-Hild attempts to explain which causes Lind to stop her attack but she doesn’t like it. Urd insists on help cleaning up the destroyed city, so Lind agrees. Peorth stops her, knowing what the result will be but Lind is determined to try. However by the time she joins Belldandy and Urd, they’ve already restored the city.

Chibi-Hild says it is time to go but Keiichi wants his helmet and Skuld wants some tools and Banpei-kun. Chibi-Hild has no choice and so sends everyone instantly to the temple grounds that is the Morisato residence. They see the horrible state of the temple and are shocked and angered by what they see; Hild believes it to be the work of Hagal. When Belldandy says they must make the person responsible pay for this, Lind is hit with guilt. Belldandy has Urd destroy the shambles of the temple so that Belldandy can fix it but unfortunately, Belldandy’s spell only restores it to its shambled state.

Looking around, Skuld finds Banpei-kun has been crumbled as has Sigel, though Sigel is still functional. Chibi-Hild stops Lind from confessing as blaming Hagal is a motivational element for Belldandy, Urd, Skuld, and Keiichi. She assures Lind that she will restore the temple to its correct state once the mission is done. Lind feels terrible about this, but Peorth steps in to tell Lind that Hild would not make such a promise lightly. As such, Lind tells herself that she will give Belldandy and company her full support.

Skuld attempts to salvage what she can from Banpei-kun and ends up creating a mini-Banpei-kun. Keiichi doesn’t have a helmet but no longer cares so chibi-Hild teleports the group back to where Mara and Welsper are playing shogi. Chibi-Hild is ready to go but refuses Peorth’s and Lind’s attempt to come as well. Her reasoning is that they did not receive passes while Belldandy, Urd, Skuld, and Keiichi did. Plus, chibi-Hild wants their assistance to clean up a mess, including a large asian dragon. Lind agrees to this, leaving Peorth with a bad feeling.

Keiichi gets on Hild’s broom. He’s a bit worried about what they’ll find on the other side of the portal so Belldandy has some words of comfort for him. With that, chibi-Hild kisses Keiichi to the surprise of Belldandy.

Thoughts/Review: There was certainly a lot of stuff going on in this chapter, which is why I failed on making a shorter summary. *lol*

The whole bit with Lind’s guilt over restoring the Morisato residence-temple to a shambled state just made me laugh out loud. It is natural that Urd or Skuld would go off about this, but for even Belldandy to show her anger about this made it even funnier. Naturally, Hild would know who was responsible (as did Peorth of course) and it does make sense for everyone to believe that Hagal is responsible for it.

I’m a bit disappointed that Lind and Peorth apparently won’t be going into Niflheim with the others. I get the impression that Hild may not be going either since she mentioned needing help cleaning up that giant mess with the dragon and all. I’m not sure what’s going to happen, but it would be a shame is Peorth and Lind get lost in the shuffle. I like them both and had hoped they’d be taking the journey as well.

I wonder what mini-Banpei-kun will be used for.

I also wonder what Hild is up to by kissing Keiichi at the end there. Obviously Belldandy isn’t happy about it, but as I thought about it, I couldn’t help but think, “well, maybe you should kiss Keiichi once in a while.” *_* Yeah, I know — how many years has it been since Belldandy and Keiichi kissed (not in story time but in our time)?

A quick note on chapter 248 — obviously I skipped it as of this posting. Hopefully it will appear at some point. Well, when the tankoubon for volume 39 is release, I can read it then I suppose. ^_^;

So another good chapter in a good story arc. Here’s hoping for more good stuff from Fujishima-sensei.

    Is it just me or does the end of this chapter suggest that Hild’s preparing to die?
