Negima! 284 SPOILER Images
魔法先生 ネギま!Chapter 284 (Images)

Here’s what I know many of you have been waiting for — the original-sized, sneak-peek SPOILER images for Mahou Sensei Negima! Chapter 284 as brought to you by anonymous Japanese fans (click pic to make bigger, y’all).

So Shiori’s name is “Luna” (or “Runa” depending on which letter they go with).

I’ll have more as soon as they post more so check back. ^_^

Update: OK, they now have the 2nd batch up.

THIS has me very excited! Déjà vu for Asuna, eh? I predict that Negi will rescue her in much the same way Nagi did 20 years earlier.

I’ll keep my eyes peeled for more images so stay tuned.

Update: More images and the 2ch people will be happy since Anya appears (they were yacking about her like crazy earlier tonight).

So, does Fate have a maid fetish? *lol*

Update: Another batch.

Fate with the villain exposition to move the plot forward. ^_^

Hopefully “Luna”. It’s not like it makes a real pronunciation difference for the Japanese readers, and save for the odd in-universe print example, this series has been amazingly good at avoiding the egregious Engrish so far… ^_^

Unless it has something to do with the word “rune”, in which case “Runa” would be odd, but would work.

On another note, she sure lost that lovey-dovey expression pretty quick, didn’t she? A new tsundere to replace Chisame, possibly (who got promoted to slightly snarky confidant/oneesan)?

  2. thenightsshadow says:

Shiori = Luna. What does it say regarding the panel that shows Fate? Is it still all “keikaku doori” or something else now?

  3. AstroNerdBoy says:

One of the Japanese folks asked, “ルーナ?月? ” So they were asking if it was “Luna” because they are referencing the Kanji for the moon.

Shiori-Luna lost her loving expression only for a bit and that’s because there were two “rivals” there. *lol* She gets back to a more lovey expression when she talks to Negi though.

As to what is being said in regards to Fate, my Kanji skills are nearly zero without Furigana so I can’t help there. Maybe one of the others who graciously post information will be able to help in that regard. ^_^

    Hata @ AQS said this.

Mana plays the bad cop and Negi the good cop, so LUNA, remembers that Fate saying “Once this mission is over, you are free to do whatever you want.” tells Negi that Princess Asuna is at the Temple of Tomb Watcher. which all of us had seen that coming from a mile away.

  5. SL from MH says:

From the looks of these three pages especially the last page which has that Palace in the center suggest to me that we might be seeing Real-Asuna & possibly Anya in this chapter.

  6. AstroNerdBoy says:

    @Anon — thanks!

@SL — refresh your browser for this blog entry. ^_~

  7. quigonkenny says:

Well, at least Asuna doesn’t seem to have changed much…

  8. AstroNerdBoy says:

Yep, though Fate is working on her (or so it appears). If true, it will be ironic since Asuna will be in the position that Negi has been in more than once.

  9. Looks like the whole chapter has been posted, which makes me fear another crackdown will follow soon, since even though I like spoilers this is ridiculous.

Regarding the spoilers themselves while a translation is needed to understand the exposition they at least seem to disprove all the Asuna is the mage of the beginning and Asuna is already evil theories though as pointed out Fate seems to be trying to “turn her”. I wonder how much of what Fate is saying is the truth though.

  10. SL from MH says:

I think Fate just revealed the final truth about the Magic World to Asuna & Anys in that last page of the chapter.
Also it seems that he is explaining to Asuna how the MW was created on Mars (or on a different dimension to Mars).

  11. quigonkenny says:

So… Hmmm… Looking st the last batch of spoiler pics…

So am I interpreting it correctly, and Fate’s trying to get Asuna (probably confirmed as the GGMK at this point) to remotely petal all the Magic World residents at once so that they can basically “reboot” Magic World and fix whatever is causing the impending doom, since if they’re not petaled first, they’ll die “fer realz”?

If so, then damn I wish I had mentioned that theory several weeks ago when I first thought of it… (not the Asuna part, but the “why all the killing” part)

  12. SL from MH says:

A person on AQS forums have partially translated what is going on in this chapter, i have posted it in the MH thread.

  13. Does anyone else think there is a big drawback with Fate’s plan that has yet to be revealed since if the plans is simply transferring (mainly artificial) people from one artificial world to another one its hard to see why Nagi and Ala Rubra would be so opposed to it. Yet in Chapter 266 Nagi who appears to know what the Mage of the Beginning is planning does not seem to think it is an acceptable compromise.

On another point if Hata’s summary on AQS is correct and Asuna is 100s of years old, is this long life and extended childhood exclusive to her or do other members of the Royal Family such as Arika also have an extended lifespan and false youth

  14. Anonymous says:

Hee hee, look’it that expression on Fates face on the last page. I’m glad to see Asuna’s… well, still at least partially her old self, rushing Fate like that, good to finally see her again. Can’t wait for the translation of this one.

  15. Philip says:

I guess no Dark Jedi Asuna as people hoped?

  16. verynew says:

So much gona be revealed and same turn of events in other mangas as well in Bleach, Psyren and maybe even Naruto.

  17. Finally. After 16 months and 50 chapters, we finally get back to the real Asuna and to Anya. Looks like there’s going to be a lot of backstory development in this one.

  18. Based on what Akamatsu has done in the past, I would argue that Luna would be the accurate translation of the name. After all, look at the Magicus Mundus (the Magical World)… The currency is base off of the ancient greek currency name – dramcha. The world has plenty of Latin and Greek references, such as the planet… a parallel dimension to Earth with what we know as Mars (most notably the god of War in Roman society.)

Other notable examples include the name “Tertium” (Fate’s Real name which he hates, the word “pactio” (plural = pactiones) and the pactio artifact details (with Latin words)

  19. Orion says:

@Mister Random: Negi has a problem with Fate’s pla… @Mister Random: Negi has a problem with Fate’s plan because it is a compromise, not the “save everyone happy ending” type of plan his idol–oops, no father would have gone with.

From Negi’s perspective, it is killing over a billion sentinent beings and putting their minds in an illusory reality to live a false life without sadness or pain.

From Fate’s perspective, it is giving an illusion a chance to continue it’s existence in a reality that is equivalent to Mundus Magicus as well as protecting those that originate from reality and Mundus Vetus.

The reason that Nagi and Negi can’t go along with Fate’s plan is that they refuse to think that because a person’s being is illusory that makes them less than a “real” person.

Fate, however, addresses that point pragmatically by following the reasoning that since the MM will inevitably collapse (unless Negi uses sheer willpower to change the laws of magic AGAIN) the only way to save the lives of people who are a part of that illusion is to give them another illusory world where they live happy.

Honestly, I don’t really see how Negi’s going to oppose that rather good reasoning.

  20. veron says:

this is a very similar to the dilemma Negi had with Chao. her plan was to revile magic to the world. For the reason to save her world. Fate is now presenting a similar “morally questionable answer to a problem” fate is trying to save the folks of MM, by “collecting” them. However Nagi was against this “Matrix Complex” where as “the people wont know the difference. Now Negi following in his father foot steps needs to find his solution. Many people suggest that he will create/recreate another MM. Now here comes my theory. albeit sad i believe that asuna is the going to be used as the Great Grand Master Key GGMK, in this chapter we are reviled that asuna’s age is in the hundreds. so it is possible that she was “collecting” power to be used to create another world. because it must take a magical power that would make vegeta scream to create a world the size of mars. I believe that the proses is similar to making a diorama. In the end i think that the magical world will have a breakdown and make mars habitable. How that happens is still out the window.

    In truth…
I don´t think KA will destroy MM, because Magic would be revealed to all the people on earth.
And… I too think they aren´t on Mars.

In my opinion MM is just an illusion or something like Evas Resort.

I think there must be another secret because of all the things we know now, Nagi has fought Fate two times. Version #1 & #2)
And i also think there must something terrible be happened at the second fight.
After the first fight of Ala Rubra, Nagi and others were heroes and he get´s the girl. But we don´t even know something about Fight #2.

There must be another secret. And i suggest it is connectet to Negi and his childhood without Mother or Father.

Eventually Shiori could give some answeres to Negi and AA.

Iám glad seeing Asuna in her “normal” Form. (I was afraid she could have changed in some “Bad Girl”. Maybe Darth Panty or something)

    (Please forgive my mistakes.)
