ケロロ軍曹/Sgt. Frog/Keroro Gunsou Anime episode 99

SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

Keroro learns that Natsumi wants a dog and decides to make her wish come true by giving her a collar. She assumes he wants to wear it, but instead it turns her into a dog with the collar under his control. She tries to attack but gets punished, so she runs away, not knowing that Keroro can track her. Finding a trash can, she finds herself drawn to the smells and Keroro plans to get the perfect picture of Natsumi, as herself, eating trash. However, she comes to her senses and moves on.  She does the same when it comes to taking a leak on a pole and running away again, comes upon Saburo, who takes a liking to this strange dog and takes to to a dog cafe where he has tea and she has dog food. Keroro is frustrated by not getting an embarrassing photo of Natsumi when Giroro arrives to find out what happened to Natsumi. Keroro drops the remote, which Sabaru picks up and turns off, causing an embarrassed Natsumi to appear before she grabs the remote and flees. At home that night, she turns Keroro into a dog, but discovers that one of the photos that Keroro took is of her and Saburo that she likes.

Keroro sees Fuyuki interested in undersea life and comes up with a plan to make an aquarium so they can secure more funding for the following year.  Borrowing Nishizawa Island, they get to work as Momoka imagines visiting their finished aquarium with Fuyuki. Their first attempt is a cheap thing, angering Momoka but their second attempt looks more impressive except that the Keronians are cosplaying as sea creatures. Momoka is about to get angry again except that Fuyuki enjoys it. However, he things he sees a Anomalocaris, something that shouldn’t exist. While the platoon performs dolphin-like tricks, part of the structure collapses. Fuyuki goes down to save the creatures, but the aquarium glass broke. Fuyuki finds the baby anomalocaris, but a herd of angry adult anomalocaris swim in and Fuyuki is sent to the bottom, only to be rescued by a mermaid.

Thoughts/Review:

The first story was mildly amusing, though predictable. I couldn’t help but smile at Natsumi fighting her dog urges while in dog form.

Of course, Keroro getting turned into a dog at the end was humorous too.

The second story didn’t seem like much at first seeing as how it was some silly “Sea Parks” thing.

However, that changed when the episode parodied Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, with Fuyuki becoming Nausicaä and Keroro basically becoming the mehve, reinacting the scene where Nausicaä saves the baby Ohmu. ^_^

So, one of the better Keroro Gunsou episodes in a while, in my opinion.
