KFC Japan’s New Menu Item Today

KFC in America may have its Double Down, breadless sandwich (two fried or grilled breast fillets with bacon, two different kinds of melted cheese, and the Colonel’s secret sauce…whatever that is), and that came to Japan as well.  However, as the Japanese are wont to do, it is time to create another breadless chicken sandwich — the Kentucky Chicken Rice, which went on sale today.

Basically, the Japanese have taken the Double Down and modified it. You have the two, fried chicken breasts (no grilled option, apparently), then put in special mayo (’cause the Japanese love their mayo), ketchup rice (a rice-ketchup patty), tomato sauce, and cheese.

The Double Down was pretty good, though I’ve only had it once.  This sandwich sounds a bit much for me, mainly because I think the tomato sauce is overkill. If I have ketchup rice, which is already going to be tomato-y to an extent, tomato sauce is not what I want. Then again, I’m the kind of guy who orders his pizza with a light tomato sauce, so what do I know.

I’d try this for sure, were I in Japan.

    This looks positively nasty.

*twitch* I can only eat pizza on medium or heavy sauce. Still, it is inventive to make rice a topping.
