Here are SPOILER images from the upcoming UQ Holder chapter 12, courtesy of the VERY gracious Southrop.
Southrop has also written up quite a few translator notes for the chapter for those wanting more information. ^_^
Update #1: One more, NSFW image.
BWAH!Ha!ha!ha! Akamatsu-sensei, you so-and-so!
Kuromaru’s appearance reminds me of the “A.I. Love You” character, #40… seems like a guy… until some differences are obvious…
40 is a guy part of the time and a girl the rest of the time. ^_^;
well lack of D…. haha well i hoped we would get clarrification cos the joke was getting a bit old. looks like an interesting chapter im mostly looking forward to seeing UQHolder in action
I think this chapter will have some interesting stuff in it.
It’s going to be disappointing if Kuroumaru’s truly physically female. A played out trope and the “reveal” would be boring and unsurprising after all the jokes.
My guess is that “his” gender was unambiguous until the body modification. After the body modification it became…well…no D for instance.
My guess is that the body modifications turned his sex from male to female. Possibly by using the flesh of a female immortal?
Well, whatever the case may be, I hopes will just call him whatever he wants to be called.
I think Kuroumaru’s current form is more gender-neutral.
>My guess is that the body modifications turned his sex from male to female. Possibly by using the flesh of a female immortal?
I would say just the opposite. Kuroumaru acts very much like a female most of the time. Touta comes in, Kuroumaru covers the breast area instinctively. A guy would not do that. Kuroumaru does that arm move so many girls do in Japanese anime/manga whereby they bring their arms to the front, with their fists clinched just under their chin, usually to express frustration.
Pretty much, everything about Kuroumaru suggests the character was born female, lived for a decent amount of time as a female, was put through body modifications to make the character male, said modifications which didn’t work quite right.
Karin saw Kuro is a girl in this chapter and was asked to keep it a secret so……
Yeah, I’ll be talking about that when I do the chapter review.
I think Kuroumaru originally was a boy and he still feels as a boy. But maybe his immortality curse turned him into something, that is both, male and female.
Well, as I said in another comment, to me, everything points to Kuroumaru having been born a girl. After all, what boy would instinctively cover their breasts? A girl would, but not a boy. Kuroumaru displays far too many female traits, suggesting a female mentality from the start which has never changed despite physical changes.
That… That whole thing with ‘distributing poverty around the world’ is just so irrational and badly-thought-sounding it just baffles me. Not only the governments might have used all those logistic efforts on FIGHTING poverty worldwide instead, not only the elites of each nation have never truly cared about their own compatriots in the lowest levels anyway so this is absurd if it was meant to be a show of solidarity to less fortunate nations, but what’s the point of a country fighting poverty inside of their own boundaries if they’re going to be forced to have a share of the world’s poverty anyway? What kind of Stupid Evil powers are at charge of that world? Is this the world Ala Alba’s actions brought? Way to render all of their struggles, and our reading by extension, pointless then. Should have allowed Cosmo Entelecheia win.
I’ll wait to comment a lot on the poverty thing until I’ve read the chapter.
That being said, I will remark that evil often disguises itself as good, with the best of intentions. Even if something evil was known for what it was in the past, it is really easy to play on people’s emotions by talking about fairness, then put on the cloak of goodness, pretend that the evils done in the past were the past, and move forward for fairness and the greater good.
