Some Haiyore! Nyaruko-san Love. ^_^ (And a bit of site news as well.)

Hey gang!  Since my regularly scheduled post won’t be going up today, I thought I’d share some Haiyore! Nyaruko-san love, courtesy of Koin-sensei, the artist who illustrates the Haiyore! Nyaruko-san light novels.  I really have loved the Haiyore! Nyaruko-san and Haiyore! Nyaruko-san W anime series, so much so that I eagerly look forward to a third series, should one be made.  Considering that the light novels are still being published, a new series SHOULD come out in the future. ^_^

Haiyore! Nyaruko-san

Nyarlko builds a Cthulhu model. I’d love to see this side of her in a future anime series.

Nyarlko looking very cute in her sun dress.

Cthuko playing video games and eating potato chips. I think she and Nagi Sanzenin from “Hayate the Combat Butler” would get along quite well. ^_^

I’ve shared a few of Koin-sensei’s other Haiyore! Nyaruko-san art.  This one from 2012 of Cthuko and Cthune was from before I saw the Haiyore! Nyaruko-san W series.  The first one I shared was from 2011 after seeing Haiyoru! Nyaruani: Remember My Love (Craft-sensei).  No doubt, I’ll share more in the future.

OK, now for the boring, topical stuff. The past article format issue project (whereby I fix skewed images in the post as well as other formatting issues as well as errant, internal link issues) has completed 410+ posts out of a total of ~2900 that needed fixing.  That only leaves some 2490 or so posts still to fix. ^_^; As of my writing this post, I had just corrected the Genshiken Nidaime chapter 79 post from September 3, 2012. I started this blog at the end of 2006. ^_^;

I had hoped not to have the blog live with this problem, but alas, things didn’t go according to plan. Since there’s no way to easily or quickly automatically fix the problems (too many variables to have to look for), I have to do it by hand and it will take months. *_* Oh well. I hope that in future, WordPress’s import blog tool does a better job so that images aren’t stripped of justification codes and the like.

Anyway, I appreciate your patience with me as I continue to fix this thing. Other than this tedious work, the new blog platform is awesome. I have two upgrade things on the plate. First is something that will be mostly transparent to you guys, but I’m getting it so that the featured image that goes into the slideshow comes up with the proper size automatically rather than my having to manually resize the featured image in every new post.

Secondly, at the request of a  longtime reader, I am planning to add code so that with each article, one can see how many comments have been posted for it. Hopefully, those wanting  to participate in a chat in the comments will be able to go straight there from either the top of the post, or from the blurb from an archive/tag/category page.

Also, some of you may have noticed much faster responses on comments. There’s a lot of automation behind the scenes which eliminates the crap, and since my personal blog, Tenchi Muyo! FAQ site, and this anime/manga blog are linked (all running WordPress), I or my guys can easily see what comments are going were for approval. If I’m on and working on the fixing old blog posts, I get near real time updates on comments. Even sweeter, I don’t even have to leave the page I’m working on to make a response. ^_^

Thanks for all of your continued support. ^_^

    The site has been hammered hard lately. I’ve done some things to reduce load times. Eventually, I may have to go to a dedicated server. ^_^;

    Is the problem just a string for a link or something more complicated? Because if it’s just a constant path to a file, it could really be automated.

    Another possibility might be to upload the images somewhere else such as Tumblr, Photobucket, Google Drive, erm… maybe even github or svn… and reference them from there. So, when you migrate, at least you won’t have to fix all of the images.

      The site load problems are mostly with JetPack, which is a nifty WordPress plugin with a lot of cool tools. I disabled everything I wasn’t using and dropped the load time by quite a lot of time. It takes a ton of resource, but disabling all the crap I didn’t need has seen an immediate improvement.

      The image problem is formatting. I did migrate all of the images to have them on my domain, but I did that for SEO purposes. So I get more traffic, but in exchange, I also have a slightly increased load time from the images. I could have left them all pointed to Google.

      Anyway, the formatting issue is because WordPress migration tool strips all image justification formatting code from Blogger (and even embedded video code, like the stuff from YouTube). It sometimes even strips bold or italics. Since how I put my images is not a constant, fixing them with a script doesn’t seem to be an option. :_(

        I suggest you stay away from JetPack. JetPack is just for complete noobies who don’t know their way around WP. Many people on the Net suggest not using it.

        Here are some alternatives and reasons not to use it: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=wp+jetpak+alternative

          It comes with WordPress in an already installed mode, with many features active. Since I went through and disabled everything I didn’t want or use, my site’s performance has improved massively.

          That being said, I will certainly take a look-see at what else is there from your link. ^_^

    Like the new format! Much faster, easier switching. You already know that, but you might like to hear so from an intelligent net novice. I’ve been mining the easily accessible archives, and have found lots of good stuff heretofore unknown to me. Great work! (WMC)

      Thanks! ^_^ Now, if I can just get the old stuff so that the images are properly placed in stuff, I’ll be in business. ^_^

    As a recovering perfectionist I feel your anguish. (WMC)
