ユーキューホルダー! Manga Review
UQ Holder Chapter 40
SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:
Realizing that Fate is not only a powerful wizard, but a powerful fighter, Touta decides to take the fight to Fate to prevent him from casting spells, using the sword skills and martial arts learned from Eva. As Touta presses the fight, he manages to get a cut on Fate’s cheek, causing him to smile.
Elsewhere, Ikkuu has trouble dealing with Tsukuyomi while Kuroumaru has difficulty dealing with Asura. Karin is also having trouble dealing with Shaba and wants the UQ Holder members to retreat, but she notices digital numbers counting down on Kirie’s arm. She calls Touta to ask about this, so he asks Karin to keep fighting until the counter reaches 0 in roughly 90 seconds.
Touta is no longer close to Fate, allowing Fate to cast spells again. He taunts Fate to a melee fight, so Fate accommodates Touta, giving him a beating and causing him to flee. Fate grabs Touta and tells him to come with him. Touta turns up Gravity Blade to 500 tons and lands on Fate. He yells for the Numbers to come to him when Kirie’s petrification is removed. She crunches the magic poison pill and praises Touta as Kuroumaru, Ikkuu, and Karin make contact with Kirie.
Kirie wakes up at her save point, but she’s alone and wondering where the others are. Down in the underground caverns, Touta gloats over their triumph over Fate as Fate tries to figure out what happened. Yukihime shows up, greeting the “powerful wizard” and greeting him, whom she’s not seen in 30 years.
Thoughts/Review:
While I liked this chapter, my head hurts thinking about the paradox issues here. I’ll discuss that in a bit.
I had thought that Fate was likely sent back in time during UQ Holder’s first encounter with Fate, where they got wiped out by Fate alone without him blinking an eye. I figured this because in this last encounter, Fate had a lot of helpers with him. In my mind, Fate had to know something to make sure he had support, even if he didn’t need it.
With this chapter, it seems that Fate didn’t know how he moved from the space elevator gate port to this underground chamber. (Which as an aside, how is it lit?) I do note that Fate was able to discern that neither science nor magic had caused his shift of position, meaning that someone had a unique ability. Regardless, it is likely that Fate wasn’t sent back in time the first time, though there is still a chance of it. After all, he would be able to easily figure out that he was sent back in time. Being sent to another location entirely, and a dark, underground location as well, would make things more difficult for him to understand in total.
That brings me to the paradox issues. (Ow! My head!) Kirie brings back everyone in time, and conveniently underground so that they cannot encounter themselves. So by my reckoning, Fate is about to make his way down the space elevator while at the same time, he is in an underground chamber. Ditto Karin. The others are getting ready to leave for the space elevator while they are underground at the same time.
Basically, what we have here is a new timeline every time that Kirie resets. So I think that all of our speculation on which timeline we are in is almost pointless because Kirie resets the timeline every time she dies, and directs a new outcome, hence a new timeline.
As an aside, why is Touta clothed and sans his sword while Karin, Kuroumaru, and Ikkuu still have their weapons from the fight at hand?
Still, no matter how you look at it, it causes my head to throb.
Tsukuyomi is now a cyborg. How Ikkuu figured this out, I have no idea. However, it would be interesting to learn what brought this about.
Finally, there’s Touta. Yes, he still irritates me, and my head already hurts so Touta isn’t helping me. That being said, I’ll give credit where credit is due.
First, he followed his instinct that Kirie was smart enough to have prepared for the eventuality that she would get petrified. He could have easily been wrong, but he made a call and even though Karin’s natural instinct was to retreat, she went along with it. It paid off.
Second, he accurately reasoned that he would be at a disadvantage if he didn’t keep close to Fate. So he used the skills learned from Eva to help, though one could argue his supreme mastery of the Gravity Blade is a bit much.
Of course, Touta has to be an arse and smirk about things after they nab Fate. Too bad Eva is down in caverns with them to prevent Fate from really opening a can whoop arse on Touta. ^_~
Oh, and one more item. Initially, in the rumors, it looked as if Eva was acknowledging Fate as the superior mage. However, in the official English translation, her words come off as more sarcastic rather than a declarative statement. We’ll see what happens next.
I’m assuming (and seriously hoping) Kirie’s power transports the body of the current timeline and memories of the previous timeline, rather than the body of the previous timeline. As in, there are no two of anyone of them, and rest of Ala Alba would think Fate randomly teleported or something. Otherwise there would have been a Touta right next to Kirie, right?
Of course, that makes me wonder how Eva knew she would be needed there ^^”
Assuming Fate came down alone, he’d just be in the elevator, then not in the elevator when he was supposed to be in the elevator, which he remembers being in the elevator even though he was never in the elevator to begin with. ^_~
In all seriousness, you’re probably right about how this would work. To me, it still creates a paradox though.
Yeah, ditto.
¡¡Evangeline!! I thought that she still wouldn’t appear, I have a feeling that a flashback is approaching XD
It surprised me when I saw Kirie escaped of the petrifaction with the countdown, maybe Kirie has a countdown in these cases
I realized that Fate didn’t know about Kirie, then I suppose that Kirie arrived to UQ Holder years later, after Fate left it.
Now that Evangeline and Fate meet again, they resolve this in a way peaceful as by example they have a conversation or they end in a fight
I wonder if someday someone will teach Touta about the magic or the fight, he told that Evangeline didn’t teach him swordplay or martial arts, and about the magic…
In a fight, he seems to be guided by the instinct
Also, I was surprised that Evangeline knew that Fate would be there. Who did tell her about Fate and that they would be there?
its capability of instinct or perception sometimes frightens me XDD
Nah, someone must have warned her by telephone or something, maybe Kirie, because the poor died several times XDD
Is Tsukuyomi a cyborg? ._.
I’d like to see more, so hopefully we get something showing how Eva and Fate parted ways. I really want Eva to eventually open up about her distant past.
I figure that during one of her resets, she made sure to have some sort of anti-whatever magic apps at the ready to use.
Assuming Fate doesn’t just make a water gate and leave.
Good question.
That’s what it says. ^_^;;;
For what I undestood, there will not be two Fate in this new timeline. When Kirie took Touta with her the last time, there was just one Touta. I think it’s just the same thing, except she decided to set them elsewhere than with her
Touta wasn’t holding his sword at the time Kirie made her save point, so it’s normal he doesn’t have it. He was also clothed.
bingo ! You’re right !^^ I think the same thing !^^
You’re probably right about the lack of two Fate’s.
Kuroumaru wasn’t holding a sword when Kirie made a save point. Ikkuu didn’t have arm blades when Kirie made a save point. And Karin is unlikely to have had weapons ready while traveling down the space elevator when Kirie made the save point. So to me, this is an inconsistency.
I’ve checked the chapter, and we can”t say for sure Kuroumaru wasn’t holding his sword. Ikku is a cyborg, he have all his weapons with him, and he can use them in I would say a few second. On the contrary, because Karin was travelling, I would say she would just carry her weapons with her, not in order to fight right away, but just to keep her stuff with her.
Kuroumaru wasn’t holding a sword to board the boat to go to the elevator gate. Yes, Ikkuu would have his weapons on his person, much like Chachamaru did in Negima, but again, he wouldn’t have had them at the ready when he’s boarding a boat with Kuroumaru to go to the elevator gate. ^_^
Basically, in my opinion, we’ve got a continuity error, or a paradox of sorts.
2 things,
(1.) I don’t really have much problem with Touta, yes his overconfident is irritating but I’m sure he’ll slowly (or quickly) gain the power he needs through training or having his ass handed to him. Mostly the latter by the looks of it.
Another reason that Touta os tolerable for me is at chap1 I’m already pretty sure this is Akamatsu Sensei way to write about Nagima (you know, Negima’s dad) without doing a prequel. The 1st time I saw Touta I went “Oh? Nagima?” then after chap1 “Yeah, Nagima alright.”
(2.) About the paradox thing, I’m not sure but this is either the translates are wrong or Akamatsu Sensei mess this up.
I thought Kirie’s power is to transport the people she’s touching back to the past with their present minds along with their present bodies.
But maybe what Akamatsu Sensei means is she can transport the people she’s touching back to the past with their present minds along with their PAST bodies.
Then everything fits; Other then Touta, one can argue that the others had their weapons on them at that time.
& in the original timeline, Kirie didn’t knew of Touta’s friends because by the time she’s there the fight already started. & Fate possibly had helps at the ready at the original timeline too, he just didn’t actually need them.
So far it has been mostly the former. Touta has managed to overcome just about everything other than sheer numbers of opponents and eventually running out of stamina to fight. He really didn’t get spanked much in this chapter (IMO).
The others did have their weapons, but not at the ready. Touta returns fully clothed, but sans a weapon.
That being said, I do recall that Karin has Touta’s sword for some reason in an earlier chapter. Not sure how that came about.
Hahaha, nice observations:
1- Indeed, where is Touta’s blade? Since they came back in time, maybe in his room? About the other 2, Kuroumaru has spare blades magically stored, Ikku “transforms”;
2- Kire’s ability: like she said herself before, it’s not magic. If it were there would be doubles (like Lingshen’s Cassiopeia during the festival). You might even call it reality manipulation in small scale (Kirie and whoever is touching her). Just think of her life as a videogame, and there are no paradoxes ^^
2.1. Oh, and I liked Kirie’s App!^^
3- Yes, Touta used the GB perfectly, all of a sudden? Then again, he’s been training, right? So I dont care much about that.
For Kirie, that could be true, but when it comes to bringing other people physically back from the future, it comes off as a paradox to me.
Not that we’ve seen. We were told he trained for a month to master wielding it, but that’s different from mastering it in combat, which they haven’t had time to really train for.
Something tells me that Evangeline and Fate are about to get in a verbal sparring match and next chapter will end with some sort of revelation about Touta or Negi.
Yeah, that does seem a likely outcome.
no need to break your head astro. To me the body of Fate this time was trensporté in the cave, so no paradox. The same is the body of Tota this time which is also in the cave.
The difference between the two powers kirie is that in the first case, the body remains in its place and earns just memories of the past timeline. In other ca not only the soul but also trensporté the body of the person is teleported to the desired location by kirie.
An example, imagine that you participate in a mission with Kirie and she dies. You touch kirie.
In the first case you kirie button. Your body is asleep and waking with the memories of the previous timeline.
In the secnd case, not only will you wake with your memory of the past chronology but also your body was in your bed is trensporté in the cave. You revivals in the cave.
So there are not two Fate, Fate of the current timeline was instentanément trensporté in the cave with the memories of the past Fate.
That’s what I understand, so no paradox.
You are probably right, but in my mind, sending people physically back from the future creates a paradox. But that’s just me. ^_^
Fate’s face was just priceless. And as much as I dislike Touta(he irritates me as well), I’ll overlook it this time(again) just because Fate was playing around and didn’t know about Kirie’s ability… No, that isn’t quite right. I’ll pretend I didn’t see it because I’m WAY TOO INTERESTED in seeing how this reunion will turn out! Ken Akamatsu could give Touta 48 pages and these two last pages would still be my favorites in the entire chapter! Can’t wait to see what these two have to say to each other. As for Tsukuyomi, maybe she used some sci-fi skill that made Ikku realize she was a cyborg, I dunno. X)
Priceless in the sense that he looks like the mere fact that he saw Evangeline made a very good day become a pain, like when you see that person you dislike a lot. xD
Understood. ^_^
It should be interesting. ^_^
Maybe, but nothing in the story so far presents that as evidence.
How I thinkher power to work when in Friend mode is that the people who touch her will be teleported to the save (same she is or alternative one). So rather than having 2 of each person around, the people were teleported there from whatever place they were at the time.
That seems to be the general consensus, and you guys are probably right in that.
[…] No spoiler images have arrived yet. In lieu of that, here are the first SPOILER rumors from the upcoming UQ Holder chapter 40 courtesy of Hata. (My review of UQ Holder chapter 40 should come out Wednesday.) […]
Touta’s success reminds me very much of a line from Orson Scott Card: “Even a broken clock is right twice a day.”
I’m not going to hate on anyone who does, but as for me, I find it hard to give him credit for success by charging in against all logic and ignoring all cautions. It would be like giving a treat to a dog that barks at everyone… because today he barked at a suspicious person. So what? That’s what he always does.
*lol* Somehow, Touta’s clock seems right more than twice a day. ^_~
He did bark, but in this case, he didn’t just come barreling out in a mindless fashion, barking like mad. At least, that’s how I see it.
“Tsukuyomi is now a cyborg. How Ikkuu figured this out, I have no idea”
I assume Ikkuu has just the average scanners most robots and cyborgs have in fiction.
I can’t help but feeling Eva may have bitten more than she can chew now, considering how she’s been powered down and Fate has had decades to improve on himself. This kind of arrogance during a cliffhanger usually leads to having your butt kicked by next chapter.
You’re probably right in that assessment, but it just isn’t something the manga has established. 🙁
That would be an interesting turn. However, considering Eva has four other warriors and the rest of UQ Holder likely at her beck and call, Fate is at a numbers disadvantage, and might decide to water gate out of the place.
And then Fate and Eva reconciled, sharing a heartfelt and tender embrace. And then they all lived forever happily ever after. Then Akamatsu got off his duff and gave Negima the proper follow up series it deserves, THE END.
…What? I can dream.
Yes you can dream i think.
Seriously I hope UQ-holder will continue for a long time (although I think this series should last between 12 and 20 volumes). I have already said, but I prefer (by far) a group of immortal badass harem schoolgirl horny that revolve around a kid 10 years. I mean is so inconceivable that people can be satisfied with UQ-Holder? Imagine that you Akamatsu cancels UQ-Holder and do “Negima 2” instead, as you seem to expect (although I understand that you plaisente half) you think everyone explode with joy? You think everyone wants to experience again harem Negi? If is the case you are wrong more than heavily.
An Anecdote : I’ve recently(a few days ago in fact) come into contact with a person demender it to meet a challenge that I started on it for a fanfiction Magi the Labyrinth of Magic. I gave him two choices:
1. Either she rewrote the story of the Magi with some differences.
2. Either she created an alternative version of the Magi characters who lived in the world of Negima.
What she said (was a girl I said): “I will confess that I do not love Negima, I stopped half (Volume 20) I had an overdose of boobs and shota. ”
Agreements we surely read it diagonally. Nevertheless, I have to explain all the rich and incredibly flexible concepts in their ability to farm, as well as the vastness of universal, quality fights to start the interest. But what really decide to read Negima (I advise him to read by more attention to the history, technical explanations and fighting as boobs that stung (rightly) eyes lol ^ ^ ), which was really convinced I said, was when I told him that there was a sequence where not only there was no harem and almost as action but that more had a manga whose hero immortal immortal and that each had its strengths and weaknesses ..
To which she replied, “Great! Yes, because the magic is great but immortality is even better! “.
That’s all that to tell you that yes, some are very happy with UQ-Holder and certainly do not want a “Negima 2”, think a little about others before moaning and pray for you to be satisfied. I hate complainers in your genre who can only complain.
Ps: I’ve already recommended it seems to me (and is not the case I’ll do it now ^ ^), stop UQ-Holder for a few months and then after the break caught your late one shot . I read Negima trafficked then is not a delay of 10 or 20 chapters that will kill you, I think.
You seem to assume that he prefers Negima than UQ Holder! because of the harem and shota.
Does it never occur to you that many Negima fans are just curious about Nagi, Arika, Filius Zect, Gravekeeper’s Master, or even Albireo’s past?
Sure there is a chance those will be explained later in UQ Holder!, but still..
1. “You seem to assume that he prefers Negima than UQ Holder! because of the harem and shota.”
To tell you all I ask myself the question Dargor effect (and before sending me some missiles, I said I’m kidding ^ ^) saw his obsession for 3-A!
2. “Does it never occur to you that many Negima fans are just curious about Nagi, Arika, Filius Zect, Gravekeeper’s Master, or even Albireo’s past?
Sure there is a chance those will be explained later in UQ Holder!, but still..”
But I TOTALLY agree with you, I do myself out of these fans here ^ ^. But just as you said UQ certainly provide answers, no need to have to undergo the new 3-A in “Negima 2” for OUF assets!
But precisely critics Dargor almost always wear (with some exceptions) on the same thing, summarizing quickly (and with humor) is something like: “Ouinnnn! 3-A are not heroines and more Ala-alba has become a group of evil since the commende Fate! And then the life-maker has been finally defeated by the 3-A! Is a scandal! You’re wicked Akamatsu I would tell my mom! And those who are happy with the current scenario, are glad to be new heroes, who are happy to see you soon probably the life-maker (and I’m gone) ect, I have nothing to do because that there my little person that counts “.
Okay okay I FORCE THE LINE for the joke, but is anyway overall impression it gives me personally. Seriously even the primary hater comments “Over-master” (which calmed down for two weeks also thank you my god) appeared more reasoned and consistent than Dargor in my eyes is to say!
Who devotes himself to explain Dargor the 3-A does not exist? What are pesonnages fiction? Ok I’m kidding I stop the Treaty of mental illness. But what I mean is: look at comments from two or three months on this blog or even on mangafox (where I sometimes read threads on their forums) on the speaking subjects of UQ-Holder’s comments are almost always say “Arrg is no! Why to 3-A are not the main characters, why the 3-A blah, why the 3-A bliblibli ect. “ALL THE TIME!
Okay Dargor you have given your opinion we know you will not be satisfied until every people of Akamatsuvers shall worship statues of solid gold 3-A and have their portraits in their room. You told us about 100 TIMES!
You gave your opinion is good … You can change the disc if you plaits? Thank you in advance and without rancor.^^
Complaining about the Shota content and breasts in Negima.
Then going to read the series that has a half naked teen boy as often as it can (and sometimes even fully naked. That leaving aside Karin’s two fights in the nude and Kuromaru and Yukihime’s frequent fanservice share).
Fanservice is fanservice. I suppose I should point out how hypocritical is criticizing it in a work and ignoring it in other, just because you like one and dislike the other, but I suppose it would fly in through your right ear and just as quickly fly out the left ear, just like always.
Why are you insecure about your precious series you feel like you have to write a defense thesis (shredded through an online translator first) every time? I like Fairy Tail a lot, but I won’t deny it’s a badly written and horribly generic mountain of cliches that are older than myself. I won’t jump to make excuses for it when someone criticizes it. I won’t run around using its sales as a shield of excuses trying to project from ‘this series is bad’ to ‘someothing must be wrong about YOU, because you don’t like this series, nyah’ when I read criticism on it. Sadly, people likes a lot of really bad stuff, but that doesn’t make that stuff any better. When we see something like UQ Holder doing fianncially well, it’s no cause for glee, but for sorrow, because it shows how low are the expectations, how easily we accept authors not doing their best and playing to the lowest common denominator.
At least with Mashima, we know he didn’t scrap any previous series through the shredder for it, and he’s really unable to do better. The sad thing is, Akamatsu CAN do better than this. He’s just chosen NOT TO do.
When we complain about how we’ll never see the Negima cast again (and I mean the cast, not a few of them and then some far shots here and there in a two panel flashback or so), it’s not because we want to see their boobs. Don’t be so shallow, and don’t project that shallowness on us. We grew attached to the characters, and those characters never got a proper conclusion to their arcs, their travels. THAT is what pains us, and once Akamatsu has laerned he can do that and still have the sheep buying their next work, he’ll get the basic gist he can do it again with no repercusions. So if the UQ Holder cast ever gets shafted the way Negima’s did, I truly hope you remember this then.
For starters I think you’re wrong interlocutor, I think your comment was addressed to me xd.
Right where to start:
“Complaining about the Shota happy and breasts in Negima.
Then going to read the series That HAS half naked teen boy as Often as it can (and sometimes odd fully naked. Leaving aside Karin That’s two fights in the nude and Kuromaru and Yukihime’s frequent fanservice share).
Fanservice is fanservice. I suppose I shoulds points out how hypocritical it is Criticizing in a work and ignoring it in other, Just Because you like one and dislike the other, I suppose aim Would it fly in through your right ear and just as Quickly fly out the left ear , just like always. ”
Okay except that I was quoting the words of my friend on the fanservice and shota. The fanservice does not bother me either, as you have said there are in almost every shonens. If you are taken care you notice that I personally criticized especially the harem, not fanservice, it was the words of my friend.
And sorry but personally I find nevertheless more acceptable and less bizarre or shocking adolescents aged 14-15 [kuromaru and Tota (which by the way, have visibly “thoughts of men” (especially Tota) which is normal in this age], with a woman of 20 years (Yukihime) in a hot spring (also Tota not deprive try to observe), a 10 year old (Negi) who takes a bath with several girls 14-15 years (students) in the pool of Mahora. Anyway if you do not see any difference that is not my problem!
“Why are you insecure about your precious series you feel like you-have to write a thesis defense (shredded through an online translator first) every time? I like Fairy Tail a lot, I will not deny purpose it’s a badly written and horribly generic mountain of cliches That are older than myself. I will not jump to make excuses for it When someone criticizes it. I will not run around using icts sales as a shield of excuses Trying to project from ‘this series is bad’ to ‘someothing must be wrong about YOU, Because you do not like this series, nyah’ when I read criticism on it . Sadly, a lot of people likes really bad stuff, drank That Does not Make That stuff any better. When we see something like UQ Holder fianncially doing well, it’s no reason for glee, goal for sorrow, Because it shows how low the expectations are, how we accept Easily authors not doing Their best and playing to the lowest common denominator. ”
euh… I don’t understand… The cliches Fairy Tail are TEN TIMES larger than UQ-Holder, but you manage to withstand the cliches of Fairy-tail but not those of UQ? What is this hypocrisy? (I said, however, that I also love Fairy Tail)
“At least with Mashima, we know He Did not scrap Any previous series through the shredder for it, and he’s really Unable to do better. The sad thing is, Akamatsu CAN do better than this. He’s just NOT TO Chosen do. ”
Ok you just simply deny the existence of RAVE lol. I’ll signal in passing that alot of fan Rave are a real bashing FT they really feel insipid compared to Rave. It does not you remember someone that? This mania “was better before”? And how can you said that Akamatsu is not the best with certainty? You think I can write a better scenario for UQ-Holder? So go ahead take your pen and write BECAUSE you’re so brilliant and perfect, since you know everything! I rarely allows me to judge the work of a writer because I know not to have jurisdiction, I do not improvise Genius of manga me!
“When we complain about how we’ll never see the Negima cast again (and I mean the cast, not a Few of Them and then some shots here and there far in a two panel flashback or so), it’s not Because we want to Their see boobs. Do not be so shallow, and do not project That shallowness on us. We Grew attached to the characters, and Those characters never got a proper inference to Their bows, Their travels. THAT is what us bread, ”
So for you it has not seen the end of their development just because we have not seen the final battle against the life-maker, which took place in the interval of 7 years between the return of Asuna and epilogue I need regular. Do you realize that it was perhaps unnecessary? (and is a fan of lifemaker who told you that!) I was just as frustrated as you are not to see the final battle and the conclusion of the adventures of the Ala-alba. But I think in hindsight that Akamatsu thought his would be too long. He told himself that he would no more volumes to process everything. Which is impossible. More you’re wrong development Ala-Alba WAS COMPLETED at the end of the manga:
-Asuna: accept his legacy and past princess-magical world
Yue: find memory and decides to help Negi in its draft
-Chachamaru: is at peace with itself since its acquisition soul.
-Chisame: she accepts magic and renounces his fanatical beliefs realistic.
-Setsuna: becomes the partner Konoka as she wanted.
-Konoka: decided to become a magister magi.
Ect …
From my point of view in retrospect, there was very little to say about them. More a rumor always ran about as what Akamatsu Negima always wanted to make a Negima manga 100% Nekketsu the harem it was imposed by its publisher. If this is true even more justified abandoning the 3-A in UQ-Holder and even if it is not, and property Akamatsu is probably tired of harems and pantsu (thank you my god!) . UQ-Holder probably not for the same service, it is normal for the 3-A is no longer the heroines.
Besides, when you think nothing prevents Akamatsu to “Negima 2” IN PARALLEL to UQ-Holder (and not “replace”). After all the author magi the labyrinth of magic as publit “Sinbad no Boken” which tells the youth of Sinbad. Similarly Hiro-mashima plus Fairy-tail also wrote Fairy-tail Zero. Maybe Akamatsu will do the same but without canceling UQ-Holder. Only, as there may be components that can be regarded as spoils for UQ, perhaps you expect it the lead story? All this is well on THAT assumptions but certainly I think it satisfy everybody. Go a little utopian hope ^ ^
“And once Akamatsu HAS laerned he can do that and still-have the sheep buying Their next work, he’ll get the basic gist he can do it again with no repercusions.”
You attacks the people now? And then you want me to consider your arguments are valid and that I am wrong? You treat all those who love UQ-Holder and who are happy to present” Akamatsu working “sheep”! No, but I dream!
In other words: “I’m right! Who are not of my opinion are morons! ” Is it? Is pathetic!
I’ve already asked but what do you care that the UQ-Holder to be successful? Its existence will only repulsed at this point? You are aware that this is just a comic strip right? That UQ-Holder to sell goods or not NOTHING will change your life not? “So if the UQ Holder cast ever gets shafted the way Negima’s About did, I truly hope you remember this Then.”
It bored me is true, but unlike you I will swallow the pill and I do not spend my life to throw my rage on Akamatsu in retaliation! Is his story and give him the end he wants. More is more difficult to write the end of a story that you think. And I ask you the question in reverse, if the end of UQ-Holder is complete, unlike the Negima, what will you do? Your argument is collapsed ^ ^
Nevertheless, you call me immature, but so far I find that the more immature you are here and Dargor that does not stop just because you pleindre that the scenario of a manga you not agree. If I answer was non-stop to try to make you understand several things:
1. You have the right to dislike UQ-Holder and say ok the problem is that you are at a stage where you just see your nickname on talking about UQ-Holder to know the advance that you will do the bashing. In addition, you do exactly what you accuse me as your comments are often (I say “often” not “always”) diatribes of at least a dozen lines and it does not always for me are! I also note that even when Astro himself or others (yes, there is not just me) have expressed different views of your wallow you’re eager to tell them they were wrong (politely well-sure but that is not the question). You never issued ONE positive comment about UQ or any less objective. While Astro itself is increasingly satisfied with the manga (despite its mistook Tota lol) your site is strictly positions they have not changed. At this level is being stubborn! You have decided once and for all that UQ-Holder is a manga missed what happens. So from there what is the point to comment?
2. You lose your time and energy. Complaining will not change anything, those who love UQ probably continue to love and it is not your whining that will change that.
3. You’re not alone in the world huh? Think about those who appreciate a work before saying things like: “it is sad that this manga has the correct sales and it begins to be successful. “. Not for a moment do you think those who want to know the rest of the story, no, you give the impression that you would like the manga stops and you think that your little people, yet I repeat : that uq-holder will be successful or not, it will have no influence on your lives!
But hey I give up, it’s been law I’m trying to invite you to take due back but obviously I preach in a vacuum. As I said, you do not like UQ-Holder does not bother me, I think it is a shame but. But then let me ask you this question again. Why are you bothered by the fact that this manga can be successful?
I want to understand WHY it seems inconceivable that you seem so people can really appreciate UQ-Holder. I repeat, it does not affect your lives!
honestly is it so difficult to curb your frustration and soothe your wounded since the end of Negima pride?
UQ-Hodret it at this point a “cosmic bug endangering the stability of the univers” for you? That you find it so unbearable and find him no good in his content or his story? Can not you accept that people like this manga? Can you not try to rejoice for them instead of calling them “sheep”? Should They must be your opinion (and I address to you especially Over-Master) for your respective?
In fact, I ask that you almost like a supplication or prayer. Take some account of the tastes and desires of others in your comments. I demende it into reality. Jen demende you not force yourself to love UQ-Holder.
So, was my big rant
I’m starting to wonder if Akamatsu-sensei works best when working within restraints. I think for the first time in his career, he’s free to do whatever he wants within reason. I don’t have the feeling that Kodansha is making demands of him to do this or that (for better or for worse).
I think back to Kajishima-sensei and Tenchi Muyo! OVA 1. The story he crafted that ended up as anime episodes ended up pretty good. However, once Hayashi-sensei left and Kajishima-sensei had more control over things, the stories began to reflect Kajishima-sensei’s personal interest rather than focusing on a good story, even though he had one.
Hmmm …. It depends what you mean by restrictions. If you mean Akamatsu necessarily need to impose to make a harem for make a good ekketsu I will not follow him Astro ^ ^.
If, against ru mean is that his publishers require him to spend more time on some parts of his story … Yeah maybe … I’m not sure but why not.
Because yes, contrary to what some believe… I never said (and I do not think) that UQ-Holder is the perfect manga. Just as I do not think that Negima was the perfect manga (because the harem I already said). I criticizes and challenges people like “Over-Master” who allow themselves to consider that the manga is that fills defects and that there is nothing to learn. And in addition, allow themselves to pretend to know to judge the global work of the author, almost as if they could do better and give the impression of thinking that only their opinion is true.
HOWEVER Negima and UQ-Holder together form “the world of ultimate fiction” to me. There is everything from : a magic system mixing “historcal magic” and “magic of heroic-fantaisy” both coherent while being varied across different traditions (hermetism, shinto, onmyodo, bouddhism), and almost infinite possibilities. Immortals assigns each of the strengths and weaknesses varied. A universe background of both facil accses (as very similar to our universe) and infinite interpretive possibilities (who never imagined “Negima during the Crusades” with the Templars and Muslims warriors swing with swords strengthened through the aura (theki), using quick move or throwing invocations of angels and jinn?). Science fiction, martial arts fighting passing most fights Nekketsu for fights during recess, ect …
However analyzed separately these two works each have their faults.
That said, for me they are few in number. Negima for his only fault was that harem $ ¤] *. § (insult too vulgar to be written). In UQ-Holder for me its just two things.
First, it is probable that magical applications are never developed further and the overall situation (geographical, geopolitical ect) the world is little explanation. Because I suspect that it is confined to Japan and Mars. Well understood, it is possible that I am tubes and it is developed later but I have a feeling not. Indeed, Akamatsu would MAYBE due to imposed by management to insist a little more about the trip and kuro Tota to highlight these elements.
Second, the test input UQ-Holder: We all agree for once, Tota has succeeded too quickly. It would be interesting to keep at least one year in the cellar. Especially thanks to the technology we have ellipses stinks also go directly to the period of the output of the cave. But at least symbolically, the weight of immortality was shown.
However, these are minor defects for me.
But overall most other called “defects” (including Tota) that some criticize here, for me are not defects.
The story is interesting and the concept of immortality not often exploited in Nekketsu. And contrary to what his critics say, while the immortal UQ-Holder are not indestructible (Jinbei example) and although a few are, they can anyway be put in big trouble (exemple karin against Nagumo). Akamatsu was therefore according to me a brilliant idea. ^ ^
That said Astro, I do not think that will be the editorial restrictions that have enabled successful Akamatsu wath Negima.
Or finally maybe yes, but not for the reasons that you think I think fingers.
I think Akamatsu has took his time to make the transition from genre to genre harem neketsu which ironically give time to work on its history in depth. It’s true. However (and there I go again past “anti-harem” mode), I think Negima would surely happen without harem. I’m almost tempted to say that the Quick Start UQ-Holder could be an attempt to Akamatsu-sensei “exorcise” the harem Negima party. Hence my question: if Negima was never a harem and Akamatsu had anyway been UQ-Holder. UQ start would it have been too quick? I’ll play the presumptuous but I do not think so.
So I think on the contrary that it is the restraints he suffered in Negima that MAYBE cause a sort of “boomerang effect” start a little abrupt to UQ-Holder. My opinion is the opposite of yours Astro.
More at Ai-Love and Love-Hina, akamatsu was certainly controlled by its publisher but WANTED to harems. Therefore I do not think we can say that the quality of his work is related to the fact that he suffers restrictions. Moreover, a novel or a comic way reflects all the interests and tastes of the author. Oda has not started One-Piece because his publisher asked him to make a Neketsu but because he wanted to make one. Generally editorial interventions hinder the work of the author rather than help him… And I have examples to prove it, the problem is that I think you do not beds Naruto or One-Piece then they will not talk to you I think. ^ ^
For me, restrain an author, is the contrary from expressing its full potential, whatever…^^
What I mean is that Akamatsu-sensei works best when having to work closely with an editor. I know he has one now, but when Kodansha is calling the shots, they have more say on things. Akamatsu-sensei is calling the shots now, so I think that when unfettered, he doesn’t worry about crafting a tight story. Plus, Sensei is picking up part of the Negima story with new characters.
Bah together Akamatsu has never hidden that if it was a new manga would be more or moin a series of Negima. He also said that even if he had developed the final battle of Negima, he would him salvation 100 volumes to tell all. A sequel was expected. Especially knowing the hanitude Sensei put his stories into a single universe.
Incidentally for those who are indignant that 3-has ever been perfect development before the release of UQ-Holder I started a fanfic taking place in 2140 so with new heroes, so without the 3. -A. So yes, some are not mécontants forget the 3-A.
And I said that change Personalities Eva not surprise me at all as I imagined in uq-holder in my fic ^ ^.
The only things I did not anticipate were: the return of life-maker and Fate still antagonniste ^ ^.
oups “trafficked” I meant “only once in” I legally bought the 38 volumes .
Lol I should really stop using typical French expressions on an automatic translator who do not necessarily know the meaning xd^^…
Well, it is still better than Japanese to English machine translators. 😉
*lol* Yes, you can.

Akamatsu y u make these mistake?
“temporal continuity regained”
By hata
Yeah, so 30 years it is.
No, This is the contrary. I think Akatsu-Sensei said : “the true date is 20 years ago”
Yeah, I think you are right.
