愛・天地無用! Ep. 05
Ai Tenchi Muyo! – 05 Review
SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:
Note: The episode numbering used here is based off of the official video releases, which aren’t numbering the various recaps and such in the episode numbers.
The Student Council foursome arrive to rescue Tenchi-sensei, having tracked him through a transmitter in Tenchi’s boxers. Touri notes that the excavation site is roughly the size of Bichuu Matsuyama Castle. Hachiko tells the girls doing the work to flee or else, so most flee. Beni comes in to challenge Hachiko, so the two clash, Beni with her iron kanabo and Hachiko with her bokken.
After Rei and Yuki flee, Momo comes to free Tenchi-sensei, though it is Touri who actually releases him. With the area around them collapsing, the group flees out of the old abandoned school. Hachiko and Beni also stop fighting to flee. They make it out just in time, where Tenchi demands to know what is going on. However, since he was still holding onto Momo’s wrist, another misunderstanding happens.
Thoughts/Review:
Negishi had to get another Tenchi groin joke in. Whatever.
We’d established the “battle babe” for the Student Council, namely Hachiko, who seems to be based off of a Japanese youkai of some sort.
We’d established the “battle babe” for the Science Club, namely Beni, who also seems to be based off of a Japanese youkai, specifically an oni.
Naturally, I couldn’t help but think, “You know, I sure hope we have these battle babes clash.” Negishi was on the same page, ’cause that’s what he immediately had them do.
As to the plot, I still don’t have a clue why anyone’s doing anything beyond hijinks. Because of how the Bichuu Matsuyama Castle was name dropped, I couldn’t help but think that this was some sort of clue for things that happen down the road. We’ll see.
Oh, and Mihoshi got her second cameo.
Otherwise, the episode was what it was, and I did enjoy seeing battle babes battle.
“Hachiko, who seems to be based off of a Japanese youkai of some sort.”
That made me thinking that she might be a Nine Tailed Fox. Curious if we’ll find out or Negishi will leave the foreigners wondering (the Japanese would probably figure it out sooner or later).
Yeah, I know I’m wondering at this point.
