Nurse Witch Komugi-chan R 07 Review
ナースウィッチ小麦ちゃんR episode 07
SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:
Komugi’s and Kokona’s friends notice that Komugi has been invited Tsukasa’s room in the dorm. Meanwhile at school, Kokona starts ending her sentences with heso while revealing her belly button. When one of the buddy group says its no good, she shifts to attempting to use other things at the end of sentences to produce a character for herself, including mentai and the “tongue hanging out” biron, which ends up offending on the people she’s interviewing on TV. After chatting with Tsukasa and Komugi separately, Kokona learns that her public character is how hard she works. As such, she enters a marathon. During the marathon, she inspires many others, including her wealthy parents. Afterward in the dorm bath, Tsukasa is washing Kokona’s back and gets startled, briefly allowing her true self to emerge and Kokona suspects Tsukasa has another character under her crossdressing tomboy one.
Thoughts/Review:
Not a lot to talk about in this episode, but it was OK for what it was.
After the previous episode being about Tsukasa struggling maintaining the image of being a butch, crossdressing, tomboy chick, I liked that this episode picked up from there. For starters, we got to see how Komugi and Tsukasa have become close friends. It makes sense, seeing as how Tsukasa finally gets to have her “happy time” with a friend instead of solo.
(As an aside, I was amused at how the friend group assumed this meant Komugi and Tsukasa were somehow romantically involved, then after hearing Komugi’s story the following day, assumed Komugi and Kokona had a fight over Tsukasa.)
The identity crisis element was also picked up, but this time through Kokona and her worries that other idols are known to be a certain character type, but she doesn’t have one. In some ways, this felt forced, but in other ways, it felt right. After all, Kokona may be an ojousama, but she’s still a person with feelings and worries. So in the end, I decided I liked this character exploration of Kokona, even if it wasn’t very deep.
Moving over to Crunchyroll, I’m amused in a non-laughing way at the choices for Konoka’s noises made at the end of her sentences. I guess no one knew what mentai meant. Personally, I’m a fan of leaving all the terms untranslated with the initial use having a parenthesis stating its meaning, biron. (Tongue handing out sound.) Know what I mean, heso? (Belly button.)
I guess the fact that the rapper chick actually said, “H-E-S-O, heso!” is what made this item stand out for me.
Still dealing with the worthless monsters of the week here. I did note that while Usa-P and Tanu-P were fighting, Tsukasa and Komugi (who still laughably don’t recognize each other) wonder why they can’t just cooperate on gathering the Fan-C cards.
In the end, Nurse Witch Komugi-chan R 07 wasn’t much, but it was OK for what it was.
