I’m Still Standing…Mostly
Hey gang! I know how insanely far behind I am on blogging. Believe me, it pains me to be this bad. As I write this, it has been eight weeks since I had a day off from work. Last week, I only did 45.75 hours, and it felt like I was slacking off. π I’m not complaining, as I’m thankful to have a job. But I wanted to explain why I’m absent so much of late.
Those who’ve subscribed to my YouTube channel may wonder how I have time to make game videos. On the rare times I get to stream (like last week), I record those and so have that content to upload. (Streaming gets a priority since folks actually pay me to stream.) And the Marvel Strike Force videos are quick to make.
When it comes to reviewing anime and manga, it usually takes me a few hours to write a piece. I have to watch the anime or read the manga, then write. And sometimes, I have to ponder a lot about what I want to say. My gaming videos require no such effort, and maybe that’s why my YouTube channel is only 1400+ subscribers at this point. π
Regardless, if I can get some time off this weekend, AND get some desperately needed sleep, I’ll try to get the latest UQ Holder chapter review up soon as well as the last Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki OVA 5 episode review.
Thanks for all your patience with me!
Well real life must be taken care of. Fantasy must wait its turn,
Volume 18 seems to be the end of Ooku. And I just had to leave the computer to go start my oatmeal cooking which is a great illustration of my point.
\bliss -βNearly any fool can use a GNU/Linux computer. Many do.β After all here I am…
I was going to say, “I haven’t had oatmeal in ages.” But I seem to remember getting some free pack from Sam’s Club a few months ago (instant kind) and just ate it to get rid of it. π
Why do you do this to yourself? A job is not a privilege you have to thank someone for, especially not your boss who seems to be exploiting you. Working more than 40 hours a week is already bad enough, but I guess you don’t get overtime pay?
You seem dangerously close to overworking yourself. Maybe take a step back and examine your life and if you’re happy with it?
This may be overly serious, but I am concerned for your well-being.
I wanted to write something like this on previous posts of this nature, but I held myself back. With each post of this kind, though, I became more concerned.
This kind of situation seems to have become common for you – a candle burning at both ends doesn’t last long. Please take care of yourself.
Well, it isn’t just me that’s in this boat. My colleague is there as well as folks from other departments. Those folks don’t get overtime pay, so I feel worse for them. And my Indian manager…sheeze. He has these insanely long days because he has his Indian folks to manage, but now he has a lot of folks in America to manage. So he’s up day and night.
But your point is taken on burning the candle at both ends. I do need time off and hope to get 3 weeks off in August. But they may not allow 3 weeks, even though that’s what I’ve taken my whole time at where I work. My colleague and I decided we’d just ride this for now, especially since we get paid a ton extra to do it.
Hey–thanks for the concern. I appreciate it, though I wasn’t trying to garner sympathy. π
Just the opposite. I get 1.5 pay for all the overtime. So I’m making mad bank. Of course, I do need time off, and maybe I’ll get some soon.
