Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 102 Manga Review
フェアリーテイル 100年クエスト
SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:
Lucy taunts the nude and embarrassed Kiria. As such, Kiria decides that since they are both women, she’s fine and attacks. However, Laxus shows up, causing Kiria to drop and hide her naughty bits. Laxus gives her his coat, so she’s ready to fight Lucy again. Lucy wants Laxus’s help, so he agrees. However, Kiria “cuts” Laxus’s strength, causing him to submit to her.
Kiria puts Laxus in a humiliating position, causing Lucy to attack Kiria. As a result, Kiria gives Lucy a beating. No matter what Lucy does has no effect. To Laxus’s surprise, Kiria slices Lucy into pieces.
Thoughts/Review:
I will admit, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 102 amused me to see the sadistic Kiria not only embarrassed, but showing dere-dere eyes to Laxus. But only for a moment.
That said, looks like plot dictates how Kiria uses her cutting power, and Mashima-sensei knows it. When Kiria first fought Laxus, her cutting power didn’t work on him. The explanation then was that he didn’t have any strength to cut. Thus to take him out of the fight, Mashima-sensei makes it so that it was Faris’s Whiteout magic that nullified Kiria’s cutting attack.
Thus we get Laxus behaving like Erza did chapters ago. And with Laxus set aside, Kiria can give Lucy a beating. Yet due to “plot”, Kiria’s cutting power doesn’t work on Lucy to make her submit. But it does slice Lucy in what should be a death blow.
Obviously, there’s less than zero chance that Lucy’s dead. The most logical choice is that Gemini is there to create an illusion. How Gemini is there, I can’t say. But considering the Lucy body got sliced up, yeah, no chance that was actually Lucy.
Final Thoughts and Conclusion
In the end, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 102 is mostly a death match between Lucy and Kiria, and it is fine for what it is. I’m just not thrilled with Kiria’s powers working only when the plot requires it.
