SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

Gajeel recognizes the name god Serena, who’d been a member of Spriggan 12, whom Erza’s mom Irene belonged to when she was alive. Serena explains that the rumors of his death were nearly right. However, the alchemist of Gold Owl saved him, thus he joined up with them. Now, Serena has eight dragon lacrimas in his body.

In order to put Gajeel off his mission to destroy the orb Serena has, Serena tells him that while he’s the strongest wizard, in his guild, there are even stronger people. Gajeel laughs off the warning and attacks, injuring himself as a result. Further attacks from Gajeel only injure him more, leaving him in bad shape.

Meanwhile Selene, barely holding it together, tells Lily to find Gajeel since he’s overdue. On the high seas, Levy confides in Bisca regarding her fears over becoming a mother and her desires to see Gajeel again.

Thoughts/Review:

While we get the usual shounen battle stuff in Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 115, the highlight of the chapter was the short character moment between Bisca and Levy. Bisca has always been a minor character in the Fairy Tail franchise along with her now husband, Alzack. Since Mashima-sensei doesn’t seem to know how to write romance, he had Bisca and Alzack get married and have a kid during a time jump in the story.

That aside, it makes sense for Levy to confide in Bisca. Frankly, I wouldn’t mind seeing a bit more of this kind of character stuff. Granted, this was out of left field, only tied in thanks to the beating Gajeel received. I suppose it is meant to give us a feeling that Gajeel might not make it. Yeah, right.

Speaking of Gajeel’s fight, I honestly don’t remember this “god Selene” person. But then in the OG Fairy Tail books, I basically read the volumes twice, by the time Selene was introduced. I stopped going back to the beginning and rereading everything ’cause things got tedious to me. Nevertheless, this Selene guy was apparently in the OG Fairy Tail. So maybe I will reread them someday.

Regardless, not sure how Lily changes the equation once he shows up to help Gajeel. Further, this chapter goes on to push the narrative that Gold Owl replaces Diabolos as the thorn in Fairy Tail’s side.

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

In the end, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 115 was mostly typical, shounen battle fare, but with a side of character moment for Levy and Bisca.
