SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

Natsu hurts Dogramag, leading him to believe the dogra cores were destroyed. As such, he decided this will be more fun and battles Natsu. However, without his cheat advantage, Dogramag finds Natsu beating him. As such, he fires a ton of previously uncuttable rocks, which Suzaku is now able to slice.

Realizing he’s in trouble, the irritated Dogramag returns to his stony, dragon form. He stomps them, forcing them into the stone of the maze. Instead of suffocating in an immobile state, Suzaku somehow slices them free.

Now emerged, the exhausted Suzaku tosses his sword to Natsu and instruction him to cover the blade in Natsu’s flames. Natsu does, which Dogramag recognizes as a Unison Raid. Natsu appears to slice the throat of Dogramag.

Thoughts/Review:

Well, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 117 does the cliched shounen battle stuff. You get the cocky villain and the plucky heroes who overcome the odds. Destroying the orbs followed the normal pattern whereby some gimmick gets invented to make the boss weaker. It is a video game tactic, so I didn’t complain about it.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 117

However, when Dogramag stomped Natsu and Suzaku, absorbing them into the labyrinth, that was it. They couldn’t move. They couldn’t breathe. And yet because “plot”, Suzaku is inexplicably able to not only move, but cut the rocks. Yes, Suzaku cutting dungeon stone due to Dogramag’s weakening was set up. However, that doesn’t explain how he’s somehow able to move.

I’m going to guess they’ll invent some BS explanation to say why Suzaku could do this. Nevertheless, it took me right out of the events.

As to Natsu’s Unison Raid attack on Dogramag, in the past, I would have said, “He’s not quite dead yet.” However, with Diabolos apparently no longer a foe, and a new foe introduced, I suppose it is time to have done with Dogramag and move onto the next stalling tactic.

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

In the end, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 117 is just a typical, shounen battle with a plot requirement getting Natsu and Suzaku out of a predicament.
