Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 119 Manga Review
フェアリーテイル 100年クエスト
SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:
Lucy, Wendy, and Charel (Carla) decide to use Dibabolo’s onsen. Kiria and Misaki are there. A happy Erza joins, her hair restored thanks to Cancer. As a token of friendship, Misaki uses her powers to wash and scrub Erza. Kirin decides to have fun with Lucy. The healed Selene joins them in human form. This causes the Fairy Tail girls to become guarded. However, Selene desires to talk with them.
Selene opens a portal to link the women’s onsen with the men’s onsen so they can hear as well. She confesses to doing far worse than what she did to Elentear, but refuses to apologize for any of it.Her quest was to find the hidden power/weapon to bring down the five dragon god’s.
Elefseria join’s the men and angrily reminds her of the humans she killed. She reminds him of the innocent dragons humans killed. They get angry with each other, but Natsu emerges under Lucy, lightening the mood. Selene starts to tell Elefseria what has to happen to make his 100-year dream come true.
Thoughts/Review:
For some reason, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 119 felt longer than the usual 20 pages (with splash page). Maybe it was all the stupid fan service of an onsen chapter. However, I think this all but concludes cementing Diabolos as new friends and allies of Fairy Tail. Not that this was hard to predict.
That aside, Selene addresses the elephant in the room. Much like what happened with Faris, we get an “ends justify the means” sermon. Further, Selene has no remorse for what she’s done. In her mind, her slaughtering humans is no different from humans slaughtering innocent dragons. As such, if she can forgive and forget, then Elefseria should do the same. I am curious to see what she has to tell him in the next chapter.
I’d thought that Selene might die, based on how everything was going. Then in this chapter, she’s all healed and telling everyone, “Oh yeah, dragons heal quick!” I should have expected some kind of arse-pull. I’m guessing she’ll do something that will satisfy Elefseria, but allow Fairy Tail credit for dealing with her.
Finally, I rolled my eyes when I saw Erza’s hair restored to normal. Look, I get that’s her classic look. And yes, Cancer can do that with her hair (at least, as I recall). But to me, it would have been MUCH more interesting if Erza still had shortened hair that grew out over time.
Final Thoughts and Conclusion
In the end, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 119 has a ton of fan service, exposition from Selene, and a setup for a payoff to said exposition in the next chapter.
