SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

Team Natsu arrives at Sabertooth’s guild, where they are shown the library. Natsu has fun using the system to summon books, including one of Lucy’s, but also defacing books like a child. Sorano, attempting to read, shushes them for their loud antics. She asks where Jellal is, so Erza says he will be there soon. The reason she wanted Fairy Tail to bring him is that she has something for them too.

Sometime later, Jellal and Erza sit across from Sting and Sorano. After Sorano teases Erza and Jellal for looking like a couple, they get down to business. Sorano shows them a photo of Faris, the White Mage (Wizard). Jellal explains them the whole Touka and Faris situation they resolved. As such, Jellal took over Rebellious, the group whom Faris had joined.

Sorano claims to know the location of Rebellious’s founder. Jellal doesn’t belief the founder was as powerful as Faris-Touka, insulting Sorano. As such, Jellal apologizes, so Sorano reveals this mage is at the Alchemist Guild, Gold Owl. Further, the name of the founder is Athena, and she was a weapon created by alchemy.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 125

At Gold Owl, Serena greets sisters Eni and Lusso. Eni wants to kill Serena for failing to retrieve the dragon core. The Guild Master, Duke Barbaroa, prevents Eni from doing so. Instead, the guild will find something else to replace the core that will complete Athena, who looks like an android.

Thoughts/Review:

Heh! Mashima-sensei is nothing if not consistent in his reuse of character designs. The moment Athena appeared on screen, my first thought was, “Edens Zero has come to Fairy Tail.” Athena appears to be heavily based off of Witch Regret from Edens Zero. However, while she appears to be a technological android, she’s apparently the product of alchemy.

Regardless, I didn’t expect Mashima-sensei to go this “android” route with the character. I should have, based on Edens Zero. However, my mind constructed something along the lines of Ifurita from El Hazard, who would look human, yet thanks to alchemy, was in fact a weapon of mass destruction.

That aside, I thought Mashima-sensei set up Diabolos to look for Athena while Team Natsu would look for the other two dragons. That’s the whole reason they went to Sabertooth in the first place. But Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 125 gives me the feeling that Fairy Tail will now go after Athena. Since Gold Owl replaced Diabolos as an antagonist, Fairy Tail would seem to be involved. But then maybe Fairy Tail and Diabolos team up to deal with Gold Owl.

Beyond that, there’s the old “Erza and Jellal look like a couple” joke as well as the tired, “Natsu is an immature kid in a young man’s body, containing an insane amount of power” joke. No wonder the Natsu x Lucy ship never sailed with me.

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

In the end, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 125 gives us more Sabertooth time, and properly introduces the new MacGuffin to pursue.
