Keroro Gunsou Episode 133
ケロロ軍曹/Sgt. Frog Anime Review
SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:
Fuyuki has a dream where a girl medusa unmasks a fish-alien disguised as a human and dispatches it. The next day, everyone makes plans for the Halloween party. Momoka walks home with Fuyuki, who notices the girl from his dream as well as the street from his dream. Halloween comes and everyone is at the Halloween festival. The girl shows up and abducts the members of Keroro Platoon, sans Mois and the late Tamama.
Meanwhile, Fuyuki meets up with Momoka, only to be captured by the girl. An enraged Momoka dons a power suit and gives chase with Koyuki. However, the girl quickly defeats them and with her Gorgon powers, turns them to stone. Elsewhere, Tamama, Natsumi, Mois, and Saburo (with his Reality Pen) track the girl to her home. There, she quickly captures Tamama and Mois. Fuyuki gets Saburo to draw a mirror, so that when she uses her Gorgon ability, she turns herself into stone. However, Fuyuki won’t let the freed aliens harm the stone girl, who then disappears.
Thoughts/Review:
You know, I really enjoyed Keroro Gunsou Episode 133 even though there were things that didn’t make sense. I immediately recognized the girl Alisa Southercross. However, I was stunned that this was her introduction in the anime. I could have sworn I knew her from ages back. I mean, I have been reviewing this series off an on for years on end now. 😅
Then I remembered that I saw her in the source manga, volume 12 to be exact. No wonder this story was so good. It was an adaptation of a multi-chapter story in the manga. Well, with some re-arranging of events, but for some strange reason, sans the involvement of her “father”, Nebula. As such, Alisa gives all of Nebula’s dialog in the anime. Nebula’s only reveal in the anime is his terror over seeing Mois true form.
The other big (and now inexplicable) change from the source manga is that Nebula never defeated Mois. In his panic, he released his prisoners. (It is implied that Mois destroyed Nebula’s home planet in the past.) Saburo wasn’t even there at the end. As such, Alisa isn’t seen as the threat since Nebula did all the stuff against the aliens. And the story in the manga ends with Alisa wearing the uniform of Fuyuki and Momoka, which is why Fuyuki smelled Osmanthus at the end of the anime.
So now I know why things didn’t make sense in the episode. The anime writers felt they could do a better story than Yoshizaki-sensei. In the process, they created plot holes that did not exist in the source manga. Further, they turn Alisa from an innocent host to the aggressor. 😑
Final Thoughts and Conclusion
In the end, I did enjoy Keroro Gunsou Episode 133. However, as I did research and thus reread Alisa’s origin in the manga, I came to understand how moronic the anime writers were in their attempts to rewrite the original author’s work.
I see you decided to come back to this series again.
Haha! Yeah, someone mentioned finding the site because of my Keroro Gunsou posts, so I figured I need to resume watching for a while.
