SPOILER Summary/Synopsis
An heirloom belonging to Goemon’s family is stolen by Nezumi Kozou Jirokichi IV. When Goemon confronts Nezumi, the man reveals that it was a ploy to meet with Goemon. Nezumi shows off a document, confirming his story that their ancestors were teammates in the International Thieves’ Championship. However, they were defeated by the original Arsène Lupin. Goemon agrees to team up with Nezumi to steal an old, secret document from the Sakurada Police Station by a certain day and time.
Meanwhile, Zenigata discovers the plot and gets the police chief to beef up security. Elsewhere, Jigen reports the news to Lupin, who decides to sit out the theft. However, he promises the document will be his. Later, a rat appears in the chief’s office, causing Zenigata to go nuts to get rid of it. As such, Zenigata breaks the glass. He calls a glass company, but the call is intercepted by Goemon and Nezumi.
While Lupin and Fujiko go on a date, Nezumi arrives at the police station as the glass repair man. After replacing the glass pane, he pretends to be ill to carry out his theft plans. At the same time, Goemon disguises himself as a drunk to get arrested and thrown in jail. Nezumi plants a bomb in the toilet, the disguises himself as a plumber. He then sends a rat into the air ducts to deliver Zantetsuken to Goemon. During the chaos, Nezumi knocks out Zenigata, then gets the box with the ancient documents.
However, Zenigata shows up, forcing Nezumi to abandon his prize and flee. This Zenigata is actually Lupin in disguise. Later, Nezumi and Goemon discuss their failure. Lupin and Jigen show up with the document box. It contains formerly valuable information from their ancestor’s time regarding the local police force.
Thoughts/Review
Ugh. I hate stupid episodes. Sadly, Lupin the 3rd: Part II 24 is not only stupid, it is boring. Seriously, Nezumi and Goemon’s whole plan for infiltration depended on them first getting a rat into the police chief’s office. One this was accomplished, the plan required Zenigata to act a fool, destroy the office, then call for repair people. Naturally, Nezumi and Goemon get the call and well, you know the rest.
There’s no common sense or anything. No one hears a bomb go off in the bathroom even though guards are outside. No one sees the destroyed toilet tank causing the flooding, which conveniently could flood the place where the document is secured. What did someone say about anime not being for kids? Sadly, this episode was in fact written for kids. As a result, I’ve lost several IQ points.
Finally, I have to say that it amazed me that this episode had an entire discussion between the disguised Nezumi and Zenigata over James Bond. In the interest of fairness, this did amuse me.
Final Thoughts and Conclusion
In the end, Lupin the 3rd: Part II 24 was a pain to watch.
