Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 139 Manga Review
フェアリーテイル 100年クエスト
SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:
Since the members of Fairy Tail are quickly revealed as frauds, Natsu decides they should beat them up. This horrifies Jellal, but Erza lets him know that fisticuffs are common in the guild. The battle ensues with the Fairy Tail members having similar powers to their real selves.
Erza soon finds herself transported to another place. The Signario sisters reveal themselves, where Eni (Ennie) has transmuted a world she calls purgatory. Elsewhere, Gray and Lucy find themselves in another purgatory, facing Gennai and Kotetsu. In another place, Jellal finds himself facing god Serana.
Natsu finds himself in a world where Wendy, Happy, and Charle (Carla) are unconscious and held in some sort of mass. Duke reveals himself, then as Athena II emerge from the mass above Wendy. Athena II has the powers of Wendy and Rogue. Duke plans to have Athena II take Natsu’s flame powers.
Thoughts/Review:
With the revelation of Athena II in Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 139, I felt I finally understood what Athena was originally created to do. Yes, I know it was stated that Athena was designed to kill dragons. But this false Duke wanted to infuse Athena with dragon powers, which we saw in Athena II.
Beyond that, the chapter only sets the table for the future fights. None of these fights jazz me. Based on previous experiences, these will be over quickly, which I’m glad for.
Finally, the Fairy Tail cameo was just to remind us that they are there. Mashima-sensei keeps finding reasons to bring them back, which I understand. I will admit that the scene between Gray and the fake Juvia made me chuckle a bit.
Final Thoughts and Conclusion
In the end, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 139 is fine for what it is, but isn’t anything special.
