No spoiler images have arrived yet. In lieu of that, here are the first SPOILER rumors from the upcoming UQ Holder chapter 41 courtesy of Hata. (My review of UQ Holder chapter 41 should come out Wednesday.)

Last week, I was able to secure a translator (which I didn’t need since Hata did translate), but this being the 4th of July holiday weekend in the States, no such luck. ^_^;;; So, if someone can provide a translation (Hata didn’t have the time), you would rock. ^_^
Here’s what I can gleam (which could be way off base).
- Fate isn’t interested in talking. (ChaosProphet says that he’ll answer one question per person.)
- Fate and Eva (apparently as Yukihime) do duke it out
- I get the feeling Eva uses Magia Erebea, but I’m not sure. The term comes up.
- I think Fate tries to petrify Eva.
- Fate may not be immortal, at least not in the same way that the UQ Holder numbers are
- I think the fight ends in a draw.
Well, that’s it for now. I’m keeping my eye’s open for spoiler images from UQ Holder chapter 41. Hopefully, some show up. ^_^;
Update #1: ChaosProphet has some images for me. Thanks! ^_^
Looks like fun (and it does confirm that Eva battles in her Yukihime form).
Update #2: Another UQ Holder chapter 41 update from ChaosProphet. ^_^
The other two images is the two reaching an standstill. Eva tells Fate there is nothing for him to gain if they continue. And then comes the last lines that if I understood properly:
退くフェイトだが一人一問ずつどんな問いにも答えてくれることに
Fate steps back ans says he would answer one question per person, whatever the question is
フェイト「さあ問うがいい 僕は何でも知っている」
Fate: You may ask. I know everything.
刀太「え…マジ?」
Touta: Eh, seriously?
Update #3: Southrop provided a better image of Eva, aka: Yukihime, in her new battle garb.
Astronerboy, here some pics…
Thanks a ton! ^_^
Although sorry, I gave them out of order. Last one comes first and should be Eva just as she activated Queen of Ice ME.
And thanks again. ^_^
That get up looks…very out of character, I’ll give it that. Other then that, nothing interesting other then Eva being weak enough to draw with Fate/Fate strong enough to fight Eva. Still, seems to be pretty boring. The meat might finally come next chapter, but I have a feeling Touta’s going to ask a stupidly irrelevent question like “Hur dur is my grandfather cool?!” or something as opposed to why he himself is so important.
There may be a weakening of Eva, but Fate is the one who should, by design, only ever get stronger as he makes modifications to his programming to accommodate new things (experiences, knowledge, etc.).
*lol* Thanks for making me laugh with that line.
Oh my god Eva, were you preparing for Rio carnival parade when Fate showed up?! My god, woman you are hundreds years old vampire mage, have some dignity!
I also personally worry about this form of hers….I know it’s her M.E and it obviously has increased but seriously, why does she look like a Valkyrie?
And has her power weakened that much for her to use her M.E against Fate?
I guess that’s partially the reason, considering that Fate naturally became stronger. 80 years worth of improvements is quite some time for him to power up, especially considering he can download/install(?) new powers and add it to his capabilities, like he said to Negi “I have never needed training myself.”. Also, back in the day Negi managed to fight Evangeline in ME mode with Asuna’s help, and Fate was at least close to Negi’s power level. It’s not that much of a surprise that they fought each other to a stalemate in the current situation.
I think you’ve nailed it perfectly. I think a lot of us forget that Fate doesn’t need to train. He simply absorbs knowledge and experience, then upgrades accordingly.
On the text spoilers: “雪姫「むぅ(腕を上げたな)」” this would indicate that during the fight Eva thought that Fate got stronger/more skilled. But I think Eva may be weaker too. At least back then she beat Negi without much difficulty on the training before Asuna joined, and thats the Negi that was able to beat Fate. And Asuna is just way to hax when coupled with Negi (funny how Negi basically used her as a shield during the battle as her speed couldn’t really keep up with Negi and Eva).
Maybe Eva did get weaker, but there’s no doubt in my mind that Fate has gotten stronger. Fate only needs to install/upgrade himself, after which, he never needs to train to maintain. Even someone as powerful as Eva should train to stay in shape.
Eh, I’m not really convinced that Fate during Negima was up around Eva’s level, especially since Eva with ME (something she didn’t need to begin with) was a one sided slug fest on her part until Asuna jumped in (and she still didn’t go all out till the end). I figure that Fate might be around Ala Rubra tier by now, but Prime!Eva would still probably more then a match for him. The only person that could logically beat her would be Asuna (once she hit her max potential, which we never hit because Akamatsu torched the series), Negi given a few years, Nagi, and the Lifemaker.
Don’t worry though! Touta will eclipse all of them ten times over because battle instincts or something.
During Negima, in a full serious fight, Fate would undoubtedly lose – Evangeline had that spell that could freeze his kind forever(forgot the name), so even if she didn’t use Magia Erebea he would be pwned with this spell, no doubts. Without that spell, I guess it would be almost the same as Negi: He would keep up with her for some time thanks to his high speed and absurd endurance, before Evangeline kicked his ass. After all these years, however, Fate must have made and installed so much “power DLCs”, that it’s very hard to tell how much powerful he got. Since we all know that Prime Eva was like a secret super boss in a game, only the history could tell how Current Fate vs Prime Eva would be. As for Touta… I’m so sad to agree with this. Soon enough, he’ll surpass the MotB himself, with a lot of convenient power ups that come out of nowhere, one month of practicing and instincts that surpass years of training and real battle situations from experienced fighters, and all that cr**.
I’m going to have to go back to that chapter. I don’t remember Eva using ME during the last fight between her, Negi, and Asuna.
Am I the only one who liked her new ME form, dress, whatever? I see people complaining but whatever, each one has their tastes, I guess… I especially liked the halo-like things around her, and I think the outfit is quite majestic, so no problem for me(It reminds me a little of Gwendolyn from Odin Sphere, too). I’m surprised that Fate, of all people, would be the one to go straight into a battle instead of his usual attitude to start things by talking, guess that shows how much he hates Evangeline right now. While I have been waiting for this rematch since Negima and I wanna see how the fight happened, I really wanna see them talking. I’ll look forward to the next chapter, too!
I’m waiting to see it on Tuesday before making a judgement call on that.
Well, that’s still to be determined. It may be that she’s gotten weaker, but it may be that Fate has just gotten that much stronger.
*lol* Carnival happens in February, so maybe she needed practice. ^_~
The regular, clean image may make her look more impressive. I’m thinking we are seeing a ton of ice forming around her.
Funny that back in Negima her clothes didn’t change when doing ME, but she did get that shell like piece of ice in her back that made her look like a turtoise.
I’m curious if the cloth changing part is only possible because she is on the illusion body. She may have improved her illusion to be able to change clothes while on it at will. Or it may just Ken wanting to give her a cool costume to go together with the ME.
You gotta help me — when did she do ME in Negima? I’m just not remembering it.
She used it in chapter 342.
Thanks for the info. I’d completely forgotten that until I looked at the chapter. Then I went, “How the heck did I forget that?”
Chapter 342 against Negi, and then continues to use it on chapter 343 against Negi + Asuna, Both are on volume 37.
I can’t believe I forgot about that. One things pushes out another, as they say. ^_^;;;;
I’ll find it comical if Fate takes Touta’s response of “Huh, seriously?” as his one question he’s permitted to ask 🙂
*lol* Yes, that would be hilarious. ^_^
How likely is it that Touta asks a stupid question?
I wonder when Akamatsu will introduce pactio.
Also, I assume Fate still looks like a kid and he’s using magic to appear older.
I believe that is his true form, much like the little girl is Eva’s true form.
I don’t think so, Fate’s original appearance is that of a 12 year old, I am pretty sure he is using the age changing magic that he used in negima. Since he is what he is, i don’t think he can ever actually physically age without use of magic age changing pills or something.
I meant, the child form is Fate’s true form. ^_^;;;
(1) Highly likely, but Akamatsu-sensei could easily throw us a curve.
(2) This element has been strangely absent.
IIRC, Akamatsu lost his expert on Latin and Greek, so any future Pactio likely won’t have any shown cards.
Also, Evangeline at some point was replaced with Magical Lady Gaga.
He lost that guy while Negima was still going on.
*lol*
Not sure if I should be happy or annoyed with akatmatsu changing the magia erebea forms, Eva looks more like she clawed in a pactio armor
Yep.. I don`t think Magia Erebea provides costumes… What Evangeline is wearing looks more like a Pactio armor indeed , Which looks cool.. Buy why ? lol.
*But why?
Ah this comment system thing needs an option where you can edit your comment.
Yeah we need the ability to edit our comments
It would be a nice feature. Shame it is only usable by folks like myself. 🙁
Unfortunately, there are tradeoffs on what can and can’t be done with WordPress. 🙁
Maybe we’ll learn more when the chapter comes out.
I’m not really feeling negative by this because (1) Eva invented it and (2) Eva never used it in Negima (that I recall).
Check when you have time the chapters I mentioned above. But yeah Eva used in Negima the same ME she used in this chapter by absorbing that spell she used to put out the fire earlier in UQ Holder. That’s the same spells she absorbs in Negima although we only see her absorbing it. We never see her casting that spell in Negima. The related lines from Vetus:
Krustalline Basileia [Κρυσταλλινη Βασιλεια]
氷の女王 koori no jouou
Supplement: Anthos Pagetou Khilion Eton
Queen of Ice. According to Rakan, this creates an ice bounded circle that allows Eva to cast any ice-element magic below High-class with no incantations or limitations.
Anthos Pagetou Khilion Eton [Ανθοσ Παγετου Χιλιων Ετων]
千年氷華 sennen hyouka
Ice Majesty of a Thousand Years. Effects are unknown as the spell was immediately absorbed by Eva.
Thanks for the info. ^_^
somehow dark lord now look like an angel … she gained Holy Magic from Karin ?
First i was thinking that her angelic form now is linked to her greedy that cause the death of Negi but then…
Negi final form was Thunder God so i gonna believe that this is Eva M.E form now could be called Ice Goddess yet she might not fighting Fate full strength since :
– the strongest form of her M.E turn surrounding to Ice and allow she cast any spells instantly (as i believe , she can block Fate run away to ground by Kosmike Katastrophe) or use any stronger spells that could trap him forever
– she came facing Fate without any preparation and most likely want to talk with Fate yet she transform to her final form , that is all to show Fate who is the boss that he should not run wild and beating stuff (since of almost high class fighters in Negima was fist first , talk later, the reason Fate and Negi has a tea party just because the power of Asuna (Queen Asuna now ??) is too much)
– seem to be not alot powerful spells that both sides used
Interesting — Eva not bringing her whole A-game either, eh? Well, we’ll see when the chapter comes out.
after the chapter came out
About Fate : i wonder how much stronger he became yet his fighting style is abit mixed with Negi …
Fate often like to fight from far as Touta noticed , yet he kept his range with Eva yet … he planning his attack like Negi often did : one strong attack actually the theme for one trap attack => Eva fell into that trap
he fight with 90% his power at least with the will to crush Eva from surprise and i’m sure he almost did it(crush her might be best way or only way to kill her ?)
Yukihime didn’t fight serious , she didn’t even used a single spell till the near end (summoned same spell as Fate and call it a draw )
if she getting serious in her Ice Queen form , i bet Fate gonna have very serious trouble and will not simply end up with some back ache
Fate skills
start with thousand swords like he did with Touta yet somehow he forgot to use thousand needles skill he used against Negi and Rakan (his swords now can swinging around but not turning victim to stone)
then his new skill might still be Pillars of Hades but not as the old one , i think it mixed with shadow magic that Kagetarou, Dynamis and Takane used , so Fate Pillars now can freely moving and more destructive than before yet Eva one blow destroyed them and fell into the trap spell Fate planned , the next spell trapped Eva inside and crush her , if the one inside was Touta or even Karin , they would die even if they has strongest immortal powers (Eva said so) , that spell was simply designed to kill Eva -> Fate must really hate Eva
I can’t read the Chinese, but from what I understood from the Japanese spoilers, rather than kill, that would be one skill to seal someone as people with a immortality that strong you don’t really have a way to kill. Specially if he said it would also work against Karin, The girl was able to survive staying on the moon surface. I don’t think crushing could kill her. But it could work like a forced coffin. You then abandon that somewhere and the person can be stuck there for hundred of years unless someone comes to save them.
It does seem Fate does really hate Eva, but she doesn’t seem to hate him.
Everyone making a good point… But I doubt Evageline actually got weaker, I think negi and fate being Rivas just got stronger.
Evageline strength can be said to be on par if not greater than Jack Rakan who we all remember as being overly broken and the same would apply when compared to nagi who was roughly on par with rakan.
Negi who was ten had practically spent one year to go from a magic school graduate who could on lyuse disarming spells, magic arrows, strategy and a partner to beat someone… To someone who could fight on par with jack rakan who was semi serious and Evageline to the point where Evageline brings out queen of ice magia erebea as well as beating fate who was on par with jack rakan.
Fate averruncus was only twelve years old and his powers rivalled monsters like rakan Eva and nagi and negi got up to his level and for the last 80 years I can only assume they got stronger so that they can face the Mage of beginnings.
Even if you “doubt” Evangeline got weaker. That doesn’t prove anything. The manga is already implying that she really did got weaker considering the masked crow tribe leader said Eva is only a shadow of her former self and Eva herself saying something like “at my current condition” when trying to extinguish a fire when we all know Eva is someone who could freeze stuff at absolute zero temparatures that could last for eternity.
When Eva used her Queen of Ice form against Negi it still doesn’t change the fact that she was toying with him so that’s not a valid point either. While I do believe Fate really got stronger there is no evidence that he really did surpass Eva at her prime. Even in year 2065 Negi still calls Eva his master suggesting that Eva is still above Negi when it comes to powerlevel. Let’s not forget the infamous scene where Eva destroyed all of Lifemaker’s disciples with one single spell. I don’t think Fate has anything to counter Endless White Nine Heavens.
As for Eva’s powerlevel it’s something that really varies a lot. You have to remember that Eva also gets stronger when sucking Negi’s blood and she also mentioned that she’s even stronger during full moon.
The point I was trying to make was perhaps she hasn’t improve like negi and fate but fair point, I will need to look back at the tokubans later.
Alternatively it could have been the result of the 2065 battle that killed negi, Eva could have been crippled from that fight (would not be surprise if negi jumped in to save her.)
You are making assumptions again. I mean, I could say the same thing how Eva developed a new powerful spell in under a year. And that’s when her powers were sealed. Imagine what she could do in 60 years since we are obviously not counting anything after 2065.
Most fans believe that it does have something to do with the battle in 2065 but we don’t know exactly how it did happen. Most fans assume that Lifemaker sealed her powers or she sealed Lifemaker which could also drain her magic powers.
Making an assumption is the same as to predict something you cannot predict something unless you assume something is possible.
You look at the given facts and clues and work out what has happen and without a doubt 2065 is a real major event in negima history now. A mystery is solve, is not by assuming a possibility and making a prediction of what has happened and then keep looking for more facts even if you are not 100% right you can get close to it.
Stop being narrow minded and rejecting other people opinions, if you have a better prediction on assuming what has happen then speak up because we are have the freedom to give our predictions and make assumptions, am I clear or not?
So until akatmatsu sensei reveals his brilliant idea about the plot and explain what has happened, people are free to predict and to assume.
I believe your points could be right but please don’t be a hypocrite and tell people not to make an assumption >.> you either agree or not agree on peoples comment about their prediction or assumption you yourself had made an assumption at the end of your comment.
The point is your making baseless arguments like saying Eva didn’t get stronger when I disproved that by stating facts like how she created a new powerful spell in under a year. And I don’t see any reason why you even bought up the incident in year 2065 when I didn’t even disagree on that one. And how does disagreeing with your opinion is being narrow minded? I’m simply arguing because you made a flawed argument. I do have the right to disagree. In fact I’m not even disagreeing with assumptions in general I’m simply disagreeing with you because you are trying to imply that Eva can’t improve over time which is clearly not the case when you see her creating new spells even when her powers were sealed. And how does that make me a hypocrite? I said about fan’s assumption regarding the event on 2065 not mine. You’re putting words in my mouth.
I’m not making a baseless argument, I gave my opinion on what I learnt from reading UQ Holder and Negima.
I apologise if a few stuff has slipped my mind and comparing Negi + Fate against Evageline is perfectly valid.
Evageline is over 400 years old and in terms of experience she has far more than Negi and Fate. In terms of raw magical power, Negi, Nagi, Fate and Evageline are roughly on par with one another.
Evageline produce Endless White Nine Heavens specifically for battling the mass produce dolls like the averruncus series so that the gang doesnt get to worked up about fighting them.
That does not mean Evageline has gotten stronger… she took her existing skills and made a spell specifically to counter the mandala shields used by the lifemakers servents.
As experience and skills goes… we can only assume Evageline is at the peak of her capabilities and any possibility of losing would come from surprise attacks when her gaurd is down or if someone is more powerful or if she gets outsmart.
Example the first chapter where she got binded by a magic app, Nagi cursing her and sealing her powers, the amount of blood she drinks has been stated to affect her level power (drinking negi blood gave her a significant boost)
Negi and Fate are 10 and 12 year olds and whilst fate is a doll with a lot of pre-programmed skills to match the best of the best… both of these boys had rooms for more experience.
Even if Evageline is stated to be weaker… we don’t know how she is weakened. As a normal 10 year old girl, Evageline was able to hold her own against Ala Alba members using nothing more than Negi blood to boost her base stats and using hand to hand combat and majority of her magic was sealed.
Even with high speed healing, Evageline is nothing more than a normal 10 year old girl and has the strength of a normal child. Her magical power and ability to use magic is what makes her frighteningly powerful but at the end of the day… magic is just magic there are ways of countering them and it all depends on how you use it.
Magia Erebea is designed to be a buffer, you take a spell, load into your body and it will give you certain abilities. Negi Raiten Taishou form was to boost his Speed whilst Evageline Queen of Ice form gave her the ability to cast low-mid level Ice Type spells without chanting boosting her offensive and defensive capabilities.
Even in the spoilers Fate and Evageline is on par with one another so it is debatable how legit is this ‘weaken’ fact is… I mean if she gotten softer due to Negi pacifist nature then fair enough, that would be a mental weakness not a physical weakness.
Alright Ragna this one should be my last reply since Aki requested for us to stop.
Actually I do know the spell only targets puppets and Eva said it herself but you pretty much said what I’m trying to point out how it frozes the magma and the dragon so the spell could still be harmful to humans but more effective against constructs. About me being annoyed by the badass rule? Don’t get me wrong Rakan is in my top 5 favorite Negima characters but that badass rule comment reminds me of those people who constantly bashes Negima and reads it only because of Rakan and Ala Rubra and hates everything else about the manga. I’ve seen people claiming “The only badass character on Negima is Rakan” then everyone jumps on the bandwagon. And again I never said Eva is as strong or even close to being as strong as Lifemaker if he’s the only character to make Eva scared then fine. But scaling people to Lifemaker doesn’t make sense anyway like I could say the same thing why Negi and Asuna didn’t get scared of him but that doesn’t judge the power difference in anyway. At the end of the day you’ll just end up comparing Nagi to the Lifemaker and compare Nagi to Rakan who fought him hundreds of times and they have constantly beaten each other. Then you’ll just end up comparing Rakan to the rest of characters, etc. You see both Rakan and Eva getting scared of the Lifemaker but I have to remind you that Rakan is Lifemaker’s creation and Lifemaker is the one who turned Eva into a vampire so it’s natural that Lifemaker has advantage over them. Also both Nagi and Eva are playing around with Lifemaker’s disciples it just that Eva did better. And we see on-panel that it was Nagi who did most of the damage against the Lifemaker while Zect was nowhere to be seen. Also about Negi and Asuna fighting Eva in Queen of Ice form you don’t need her to say she wasn’t serious but you see things judging by her actions you see her playing with them and laughing as if the fight is a joke to her the closest thing we saw her getting serious in that fight is when her eyes turned dark. Then you’re going to ask what would a serious Eva look like then? You saw it in this chapter how she struggles against Fate on the first part of the fight. As for Fate expressions I guess I was wrong about him smiling but still he was calm at the very start but he starts to have a serious expression when Eva started using ME later he was barely keeping up with Eva’s speed the only time you would call it a draw is in the last part where they draw multiple swords on each other’s throats but you can clearly see Eva has the advantage in stats most of the time. Eva even made a comment how Fate is not an immortal. There may be some details that I have missed so I’m going to wait for the full translation to come out. About the spell Ourania Phlogosis I knew that you’re going to bring up Jovis Tempestas Fulguriens at some point so I was ready to answer that one in case you bring that up. They said in the same chapter that Ourania Phlogosis has far more firepower than Jovis Tempestas Fulguriens and the only reason why Negi won because he was able to cast the spell faster than Chao not to mention Chao collapsed from the magic overflow from her body. As to why Ourania Phlogosis is less advanced than Kosmike Katastrophe? If you have bought the tankbons the description of Ourania Phlogosis said itself that it’s the fire equivalent of Kosmike Katastrophe but less advanced because of lack of ability to defy the law of thermodynamics. As to why Kilipl Astrape and Terra Findens are the wind and earth equivalent of Kosmike Katastrophe and Ourania Phlogosis? They all have similar composition in their incantations just like a Sagitta Magica Series Lucis is a variation of Sagitta Magica Series Obscuri or how Iaculatio Grandinis is a variation of Iaculatio Fulgoris, etc. Negima spells has pattern in them if you notice that. But for some reason Kosmike Katstrophe seems to be very special especially how the Lexicons describes it. And for obvious reasons both Kilipl Astrape and Terra Findens doesn’t have any law of physics defying abilities either. But as for why I said Eva would survive it? Obviously if she can’t then she would try to dodge the attack instead of trying to tank it. She even said to Negi “come”. The only debatable thing at this point is how much damage it would cause. I know people normally hates discussing powerlevel stuff but if you want a concrete comparison why Eva could tank high ancient spells it’s because of how high Rakan put her in the powerlevel chart and Eva is already implied to be on 12,000 range just for being a Shinso vampire not counting powerups like Magia Erebea. And you see people who ranks below 12,000 in the chart already capable of tanking high ancient spells. Just to make it clear I don’t hate assumptions in general I would find it acceptable if it has something to back it up. But I don’t like when people assumes based on their opinions alone. And finally I agree with your last statement.
I disagree with comparing Negi and Fate to Evangeline being valid specially if you’re talking about raw magic power. Nagi and Eva are on a whole different level if you’re talking about what was shown in Negima. Nagi’s punch caused an explosion far above anything Negi and Fate capable of dishing out and Endless White Nine Heaven is far more bigger than any spell Negi and Fate has shown and even if you argue that it only targets beings such as Fate you have to remember the spell itself has an area of effect and she has to save Negi and Rakan from being affected by lifting them above. I mean, if we’re talking about area of effect alone Eva froze the whole area of the resort as well as the surrounding water as a side effect of her Queen of Ice form by literally just standing there.
The most important thing is we have never seen Eva in Negima going all out. While we have seen what both Negi and Fate has to offer. The closest hint we’ve seen of Eva getting serious is when her eyes turned dark when she was about to face Negi after absorbing Kosmike Katastrophe plus combing it with a Titan Slayer while in RT2 form. This form of Negi is far above anything shown in Negima and it requires the power of his oppenent to be absorbed in order for it to be achieved and yet Eva is simply smiling in amusement. If Asuna wasn’t even there Negi would have lost the fight much earlier since canceling Eva’s magic is a huge advantage for both Negi and Asuna.
I don’t think you even understand my point why I even bought up Endless White Nine Heavens in the first place. You said in your previous post that Eva doesn’t “improve” like Negi and Fate. Creating a new spell is a sign of improvement no matter what type of spell it is. And you honestly think Eva is going to slack off when they’ll have to face Lifemaker for the upcoming years? I honestly don’t think so. Furthermore I don’t think it’s been officially stated that Negi and Fate are actually equals when it comes to powerlevel. Most people are just comparing them because of their previous rivalry but was it stated they still fought after the events of Negima? I don’t think so. So comparing Negi and Fate then comparing them to Eva is an invaid point. Using the same logic you could say that Nagi and Rakan is still equal because of their rivalry but unlike Negi and Fate this one makes sense since they fought multiple hundreds of times and even more absurd example is Negi and Kotaro. See where this is going? If anything Fate’s title “Strongest Wizard in the Solar System” was because Negi is dead, Nagi is also likely dead, Eva is nerfed, changed her identity, and hasn’t shown herself in public, Rakan is likely dead and doesn’t count as a mage anyway, and Lifemaker is most likely sealed.
Also you are acting as if Eva is stupid. Getting her to be sealed with magic app took 6 months and has to earn her trust for the other teacher not to mention it was actually Touta who gave the bracelet so she wouldn’t fall for the same trick if it’s an hostile enemy especially against Fate. The scene with Nagi where she got trapped in a pit with garlics and onions was also because she was previously in love with Nagi so she fell for his trick very easily. You also contradicted yourself when you said that she is just a normal 10 year old girl with healing abilities because if her powers are sealed she won’t also have her other vampire abilities such as regeneration and super strength. This was shown when she was defeated by Setsuna and has to be hospitalized later. I mean seriously everything you’ve said on that statement also applies to other mages like Negi and Fate. Even Nagi was reduced to an above average athletic man when his powers was ineffective on that valley so I don’t see why it only applies to Eva when normally if her powers are unsealed she could punch Fate and send him a couple of hundreds of meters away just like what she did to him in Kyoto arc.
I’ve seen the entire raw chapter and it seems like Fate was about to win against Eva in her base form and when she used used Magia Erebea she completely manhandled him. The funny thing is she wasn’t even serious while Fate seems to be very frustrated. They only tied at the end but you know that Fate is at a disadvantage since he is not an immortal and he can’t regenerate unlike Eva. Remember that it was stated before when Eva used to be weak she needed Magia Erebea but later she grew strong enough that she didn’t need to use it? It looks like the exact same thing happened here. It pretty much confirms she got weaker since when she fought Negi whether she is using Magia Erebea or not she is still toying with him unlike her fight against Fate.
I’m not even going to bother addressing the last sentence since that one has no basis or whatsoever.

Just making some points here: 1. Evangeline didn’t save Rakan from EWNH, she said it herself that she was surprised he managed to dodge, since she was aiming at him it was the opposite. As for Negi, he was badly wounded from the pwnage the disciples of the LM did with him in his already weakened state, so it’s only natural he couldn’t move at all. Badass rule breaker Rakan needs no help from no one. 2. The closest hint we’ve seen of Eva being serious was when the Lifemaker immobilized her without doing anything more than… Well, being there. Her face was seriously scared, to the point of cold sweating, so we at least know that there was quite a difference in power between the two of them – and anyone in the series, for that matter. 3. Negi and Fate’s power level was very close at the end of Negima, but Fate was weaker, as he said it himself that the power Negi acquired surpassed his own. Still, they almost fought each other to death. So they were pretty much almost equals, it has nothing to do with rivalry alone(again, Negi being the stronger one). Comparing Negi and Eva to Fate at the end of Negima really isn’t a good thing to do: In a one on one, it’s obvious any of them would be defeated without much effort from her. 4. We don’t know yet how much nerf we’re talking about, but I think Evangeline got nerfed for sure from Negima to here, considering some things that have been said. 5. This one is just a speculation, not fact: Since Fate is a construct, and Quintum said that he excels in physical strenght, I assume in a battle without any magic or ki usage, he would be the strongest character between Eva, Nagi, Negi and himself. 6. We won’t know if Evangeline was serious or not until we read the chapter, and if we’re talking about expressions alone, she seemed pretty serious to me. In her base form it was very clear that she was at a disadvantage, or at least having a hard time keeping up. In ME mode, she had a serious expression in most of her attacks, very different from what we usually see from her: Smiles all the time. As for Fate, he was obviously frustrated, but that has nothing to do with the battle. He hates her. Of course he is annoyed, and he was like that before the battle even began: He thinks she is responsible for the death of his best friend, anyone would be annoyed and frustrated if they were him: Even when he had the upper hand against base Eva he didn’t smile at all. 7. From raw alone, they seemed VERY equal in this chapter, and I love both characters. If you argue that Evangeline wasn’t serious, we can argue that while she used Magia Erebea, Fate didn’t cast very High level spells(like a High Ancient). Neither of them were badly wounded for someone to say that one of the two had the advantage. 8. This one is just an assumption: Fate might not have had regeneration in the past, but it’s another thing we don’t know in the current time: He MIGHT have it as well. Why? Because Touta said that he felt the sword cutting him when he broke his barriers but Fate wasn’t hurt. That can mean that Fate regenerated the damage so fast that the wound closed right after he took the damage. Also, the cut he took on his face had already disappeared some panels/pages later. Not to mention, he has absurd Physical Strength, barriers and especially endurance. Since we don’t know how much he improved in the past 80 years, and how much Eva got nerfed(in raw power), my personal opinion is that even this fight is still too little to say who is stronger than who currently, unless the translation says otherwise.
“Badass rule breaker Rakan needs no help from no one.” …Except Asuna.
“Comparing Negi and Fate to Eva” * Messed the order of the names a little. X0
Try to understand my point and pay attention to why I bought up Rakan and Negi getting lifted in the air by Eva because of the spell’s area of effect and not because whether Rakan can dodge it or not or tank it or not. Since Aki said it only affects beings like Fate and I merely tried to address that. Yes, Negi couldn’t move but if the spell isn’t harmful to humans why would Eva even bother moving him away from the AoE? Then if you want to argue through speculation perhaps the spell only targets constructs but is actually harmful to humans since that one was never made clear? But you know what? You need to read what me and Aki is talking about because the only reason why I even bought this one in the first place is because he said that Eva doesn’t improve then I said she created a new spell and that’s improvement then he said the spells only affects certain beings and even if that is true how does it disprove the fact that Eva can improve? Also please stop with this badass rule nonsense because honestly it’s incredibly annoying. Bringing up Lifemaker is a moot point since Eva already said she killed him before but we didn’t know how and why it happened anyway and I’m not saying she is stronger than him btw obviously Lifemaker is stronger. What I’m trying to say is we have never seen Eva going all out and we haven’t really seen Lifemaker’s full abilities as well. If you want to bring up Lifemaker on this then obviously it would create an inconsistent powerscaling that wouldn’t make sense like how Negi and Asuna defeated Lifemaker while they can’t beat a non-serious Eva or how Nagi almost lost against 3 of Lifemaker’s disciples while Eva was toying with another 3 yet Nagi defeated the LIfemaker. So you see how messed up this one will turn out? I’m actually paying a close attention to the facial expression in the first half of the fight Eva was very desperate and was about to lose against Fate then at the second half of the fight it was the other way around and you can see Eva was enjoying it with the usual smirk on her face while Fate was having a hard time and is barely reacting to her assaults. If what you’re saying is that Fate had a serious expression was because he hates Eva then why was Fate’s expression is different on the first half of the fight when he looked amused because he obviously had the advantage at that time. The spell Fate used trying to petrify Eva seems to be a high level spell but if you’re talking about spells like Terra Findens (Tearing Earth) you do realize Eva has Kosmike Katastrophe and Endless White Nine Heavens, right? In the Lexicons Kosmike Katastrophe alone is said to be more advanced than Ourania Phlogosis because of it’s ability to defy the law of thermodynamics. Guess what? Both Kilipl Astrape and Terra Findens can’t do the same thing even thought all 4 spells belongs in the same category. Endless White Nine Heavens is self explanatory. Fate has shown nothing that could counter it. It’s a spell designed against someone like him. Eva wouldn’t give him the time to cast high ancient spells since he is barely keeping up with her speed and even if he did it’s not like Eva couldn’t tank it when you see her only being amused when Negi was about to hit her with a Titan Slayer + Kosmike Katstrophe combo while moving at lightning speed. While you can’t say the same thing to Fate tanking Kosmike Katastrophe or Endless White Nine Heavens due to the special property of those spells. You can speculate all you want on how Fate can survive those spells but I want proof not opinions. Even Nagi had to be saved from that spell. Also about Fate having regeneration it may be true that he could heal small wounds but it was also said in the the raw chapter he is not immortal in the same sense as UQ Holder especially compared to a Shinso vampire which was said to have one of the most highest level of immortality.
Also Ragna The Doomed Edge I decided to quote myself since I can’t quote you directly but feel free to respond.
First of all, you’re getting me wrong, here. I knew what you were talking about from the beginning, man, and in fact I read everything both of you said before making my comment, even though it was quite a lot. I’m just pointing things out: I never said the spell isn’t harmful to humans at all, considering it froze all the magma too, but it’s obviously way more effective against the disciples of the LM. What I wanted to say is that against everything else, it’s most likely a powerfull ice spell, instead of an eternal sure-death frost cage: it won’t have 43655375665 barriers or, in Eva’s words, performance-obsessed fools to pursue. Rakan said it only targets puppets, and it’s not speculation, because Evangeline herself said the same thing, commenting on how it was hard to find a place to use it. And man… “The badass rule is annoying”? I’ll give you a piece of advice(Just to make sure, I’m not being sarcastic!): Don’t get annoyed by so little, it’s bad for anyone, yourself included. I used this term simply because part of the fact that allowed Rakan to come back from the dead was pure willpower. Fate said he was like a bug on the system. He destroyed a dimension(?) by screaming. Well, if me playing around by saying that he is a badass that breaks rules all the time because of that got you annoyed, there’s not much I can do to you but say I’m sorry. Didn’t think it would be that bad. I never said the spell hitting one person or another disproves that Eva can improve either – the point I am trying to make by talking about the nerfs is that she has less firepower to apply in her spells and skills. To use the simplest video-game example, a lvl 50 mage can cast “Ice” more powerful than a lvl 30. About the speculations, I made some, but never said I was planning to argue based on them. I made sure to point out that they were no more than that: Speculations, and only the history could prove who was stronger than who. About Lifemaker: The being serious thing I was saying was like a power measure to Evangeline. The LM immobilized her as well as Jack Rakan, so this simply proves that by comparison even she was way under his level. Even Evangeline didn’t have anything to prevent herself from being immobilized or rescuing Negi at that point, so that proves she has some(very little, but some) limitations too. There was something beyond even her capabilities at that point: Defying the Lifemaker. The thing with Nagi and the three disciples that almost got him scr****? He did the same that Gilgamesh does a lot in FSN: Played around too much and when he realized things were starting to go bad it was too late to turn the tables by himself. As for him defeating the LM, he needed Albireo to cure himself and help from Filius Zect in the first battle. In the second one we don’t know how it went, only the aftermath, so I can’t say a thing about it. MM Saga… More like Negi and Asuna “defeated” the LifeMaker. He simply went away, didn’t die or fall to the ground, nothing. And Evangeline used ME Queen of Ice and KC in the battle against these two, saying that “she wasn’t serious” also counts as pure speculation, unless someone clearly stated it – I still bet on her winning, though. Now for the current fight: I went page to page again after reading this part of your comment and Fate’s expression was serious all the way. He didn’t smile a single time, he did not look amused, more like someone who is determinated to finish his enemy asap. His very first expression was extremely annoyed and their fight had yet to start. As for Eva, she smiled twice(during the battle, until the two of them stopped exchanging blows). The first was when she used ME. The last when the two of them used the last attack, all the other times she had a serious expression. Fate was not barely keeping up, it took him very little time to adjust to her increase in speed and power, as you can see in their clash post her transformation, it really looked like they were evenly matched to me, but I guess different people can and will interpret it in different ways. About Kosmike Catastrophe being the more advanced of the High ancients, do you remember the final battle between Negi and Chao in the School Festival? Chao used Ourania Flogosis and Negi used Jovis Tempestas Fulguriens, a spell weaker than hers: He still won. If a Jovis Tempestas Fulguriens can win against a High Ancient due to the mage’s skill, nothing prevents a high ancient from winning against another, more advanced High ancient, based on raw power, experience or magic battle skills. EWNH is obviously Fate’s kind Achiles Heel, unless he developed something in these years – and again, unless the story shows otherwise, it’s common sense to believe that he has no way to counter it. EWNH aside, Fate took Thousand Thunderbolts times three in an almost dead state and survived, so yeah, he can tank a High Ancient or two. And Eva was obviously amused at Negi reaching that power level, no one saw her tanking his final spell either. You know, that’s the case with debates about this sort of thing: The same way you can say I’m speculating and be right, some of the things you said are also speculation. Never were stated and/or shown, and that’s what talking about this is all about – we make conclusions based on things we have seen and comparisons with other facts. We know we can be right, we know we can be wrong in our assumptions, but in the end I guess what we want with this is to know more about the series and characters we love. No need to get annoyed at what others say, I’m just here to talk about things I like, and I’m much more interested in hearing your oppinions too, rather than keeping all I think to myself. All of that being said: I still think it’s too early to define who is stronger than who, but unless Fate shows something to counter EWNH, it’s most likely Eva’s win in a fight until the end.
One last thing: Even though Eva was never shown to be hit with a High Ancient, I’m sure she could tank any of them, if someone was skilled enough to hit her, to begin with. That counts as speculation to a point, but still It’s what I think.
Ok all of us has made valid arguments and thank you for stepping in ragna, but I feel out of respect for astro that the three of us cease this debate on his blog.
I’m saying this because my light hearted comment just created this argument in the first place and since we are not the akatmatsu sensei, all of our thoughts are mere guess work of what he is thinking.
I could throw in more comments but I feel we should relax and enjoy the Chinese raws
Fate was created with a massive amount of power, and has only gotten stronger ever since. ^_^
Personal finger-pointing and plaintive whining guarantee your null status in any public forum. Afterward, no one will believe anything with your tag. To raise your cred argue only the issues. Specific, relevant issues backed up with direct evidence. Readers will believe you because of it.
Ignore all personal attacks. If your soul insists on retribution, then the only proper response is a singular “You’re wrong,” followed by a rebutal ON THE ISSUES ONLY. Even this minimalist answer will lose half of us.
Your audience is never a singular opponent. It’s always the rest of us, and we do not care about ANY of your personal feuds. Doesn’t matter if you’re right. We will immediately dial another station.
True, but given the fact that this is the Internet… People will troll and flame and you just don’t know how people will respond.
I gave my opinions as a light hearted comment that had no serious effort like hardcore deductions and guess work on what happens next. I made a comment as if I was talking with friends and shared my opinions with fans.
If people decide to be a critic then at least comment back on everyone comments, I felt offended by Evageline who didn’t stop at the comment where I said I was likely wrong and needed to look stuff up and took my last comment far to seriously and basically made a comment that felt to me like ‘shut up your not being serious about this prediction business, stop making comments or get serious’ so I threw a essay at them.
This can go on until someone stops commenting, I mean jeez if people want to make light hearted comments then let them, a forum is a place to discuss things not a place to critically judge people for making serious or non serious comments.
P.S this is a neutral opinion I not attacking anyone, just sharing how I feel (especially the dont make assumption comment)
Off topic, SAO is out ^^ <3
Forgot to mention that I never ask to be right or wrong or to be seriously judged, I only wanted a friendly debate not some irksome comments that felt like I shouldn’t even be talking. I know my guess could be right or it could be wrong, all that matter is that I’m sharing my thoughts. (In case people think I think I’m the always right person)
I’m sorry you felt that way. Don’t let it stop you from sharing your thoughts though.
Aki I’m sorry if I offended you with my response. I got used to this kind of debating when I visit harsh places like 4chan and people there normally discusses Negima and UQ Holder in this kind of way. I did not mean to offend you.
That’s ok at least you apologise you raised some good points tho but unlike 4chan we commenters are here to read the spoilers and chip in on astro opinions.
Plus I believe astro would like his blog to be as clean and civil as possible and intended this place to be place where we can have light hearted debates until he releases news about the upcoming chapter.
Anyways the raw is out and honestly from what I read… Even ten year old negi would struggle against the current fate, who has definitely improved and is likely stronger than raiten taishou two mode negi.
I don’t have a problem with people debating each other, which is why I allow it. But yeah, keeping things civil is key. And I know some remarks can annoy folks, but that can happen anywhere. Heck, sometimes what I write as an article irritates people. ^_^;
Thanks for clearing that up. ^_^

No worries, you can be sure I’m not one of those! xD As for my favorite characters, they were fighting right now. Fate and Evangeline will always be my favorites, followed by Negi, Tsukuyomi and Jack Rackan or Albireo or Nagi. The chapter pretty much confirms it, Prime Eva would still kick Fate’s ass, but as she is right now seems that either one of them could win(still betting on Eva due to EWNH, though). X) And yes, I’ll respect what Aki has said, and I’ll thank you for the debate. o/
Chapter is out. We have Eva saying “he’s gotten better” about Fate, and Fate saying “As you are now, I may possibly beat you” about Eva. Also Fate was apparently in a very advantageous place before Eva used her ME.
So it seems Fate is stronger than before and Eva is weaker than before.
Worth mentioning: Kirie, your plan sucked.
My review will be out later today. And I forgot to mention Kirie’s terrible plan. Good thing Eva somehow knew to be there.
