げんしけん: 二代目Chapter 109 Manga Review
Genshiken Nidaime chapter 109 Manga Review
SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:
Keiko and Angela keep Madarame’s glass full of beer, irritating Hato to the point to where Hato decides to get drunk. Yajima’s mother is fine if Yajima’s friends get drunk, so the beer begins flowing.
When Rika and Ohno service Kuchiki and ask him what he’d like so that he has no regrets, he asks to fondle Ohno’s large breasts. Rika asks if Kuchiki has a crush on Ohno. He denies this, but he denies this, going on to cite a whole list of things he doesn’t like about Ohno and how if Tanaka hadn’t been there, Ohno would have destroyed Genshiken. With that, he asks Ohno to be allowed to feel her breasts, which she angrily rejects. As such, Yajima’s mother offers to allow Kuchiki to feel her up, causing him to completely shut down and causes Yajima to freak out.
As Ohno goes to Angela in tears, Madarame asks Keiko why she came on this trip when she has a boyfriend. She tells him that she broke up with the guy. She puts herself down by explaining that she goes through boyfriends like clothes and that Madarame knew this about her. Madarame doesn’t want her talking down about herself, leading Keiko to speculate that had she broken up with her boyfriend sooner, Madarame could have finished what he started.
Angela returns to flirt with Madarame, leading to her and Keiko battling via looks. Hato and Sue see this and aren’t happy. As such, Hato moves to Kuchiki’s side, where he acts like the cute girl pouring beer for him and saying all the things he appreciates Kuchiki for. This causes Kuchiki to revive and reject large breasts. Sue comes to his side and begins poking him.
Rika, Yajima, and Mimasaka head to the bath where they discuss the situation. When they exit the bath, they find Kuchiki has passed out. Keiko and Angela pounce on the situation, suggesting that Kuchiki sleep it off at the house, leaving Madarame alone at the hotel. Rika and Yajima aren’t pleased with this turn of events, but are saved when Madarame suggests he could take Kuchiki home.
It is clear that Madarame can’t walk Kuchiki home, so calling a taxi is in order. Rika decides that Hato should go with them, but Keiko objects because she figures Hato will attempt to take advantage of it. Hato decides to change into men’s clothing to help Madarame with Kuchiki, so Keiko agrees. Hato leaves his makeup on and as he leaves, Keiko tells him not to lollygag and get back. Since Angela is fine with the situation, Keiko decides they should drink as Ogiue notices Keiko seems to care a lot about Madarame.
Thoughts/Review:
Bwah!ha!ha!ha!ha! This moment is just so awesome. ^_^
I rather enjoyed this chapter, both on a humor level and on a story level. Keiko was slightly more aggressive than Angela, but then she and Madarame have that moment at her place. I found it interesting that Kio-sensei got rid of her boyfriend in time for this trip so that Madarame will be tempted again. I also found it interesting that when Keiko put herself down for being a loose woman, Madarame didn’t like her doing that.
Angela came in second, but her approach wasn’t as forward as Keiko’s. It seems she might have picked up a clue or two on how to deal with Madarame, and she’s being very casual about this situation, especially concerning Hato. I actually think that had Madarame gone home alone, she would have been OK with a 3P with Keiko and Madarame at the hotel. I think she could have goaded Keiko into that.
Speaking of Hato, I got a laugh when he was already displeased by Keiko and Angela being all over Madarame, then he was also not happy when Mimasaka started cheerily trying to pour Yajima a glass of beer. I don’t think his plans to make Madarame jealous by being all lovey-dovey with Kuchiki worked. I don’t know what Sue was trying to accomplish by poking Kuchiki.
Sue comes in last because she just won’t do anything major. That’s rather unfortunate because I really like Sue.
Mimasaka continues to show signs that her affections for Yajima go beyond friendship. She’s doing things for Yajima that women do for guys, like pour Yajima a beer. She seems pretty happy about the idea of Yajima not taking Hato as a bride. I don’t know if Kio-sensei is going to go any further with this or not.
Another big laugh came from Kuchiki’s wish to grope Ohno, yet he had a whole list of problems with Ohno.
Finally, Yajima’s mother was another laugh riot. I felt badly for the highly embarrassed Yajima. Still, I’m really glad that Kio-sensei is taking the time to look into things like Yajima’s family or Hato’s family (to a lesser extent). It helps flesh out the characters.
In the end, a really enjoyable chapter. I’m wondering if the next chapter is the one where Hato gets flushed out of the harem.
Yeah, this was a good chapter.
Now there’s tension for the next one. Let’s see if Hato makes a move.
It would be nice to resolve that aspect of the harem story, where Madarame says, “Dude, I’m a butter side up kind of guy. But we can still be otaku friends.”
