Well, I think you tournament people are going to be happy a bit since that gets referenced, but only briefly. Zazie gets a name drop too. And of course, there’s the mention of there being no chapter next week.
OK, now to wait for a translation from a gracious person. ^_^ Hopefully, assuming someone translates, they’ll show up in the comments section below until I can copy them into the article here.

it becomes a thing of if that’s true then we should try to activate it with different people
they each try it but nothing activates
Lastly Touta activates it and as just as proof tries flipping Karin’s skirt
But, Touta octopus-punched by Karin and Kirie… anyway
Before them all Zazie appears and says within the enemy as well is someone with a similar power as your hand so it’s no good*A few words severing their thread of hope!! The truth!? Next issue is a break. Continuing in issue 19.
So it looks like Touta’s time-stop plan won’t work, as I read this. Who knows for sure.

So, there’s a bit more to the tournament action than I thought. I’ve really wondered if Akamatsu-sensei would follow the model for the Magic World tournament in Negima and not have much to do with it, save for key fights. And that may be the case.

I have a feeling that the tournament won’t be explored too deeply. I could be wrong.
I hope you’re wrong. The Mahora tournament from Negima is one of my favourite tournaments arcs I’ve ever read.
I don’t really count the magic world tournament since we don’t see most of it, just the beginning and the end, but damn that end is amazing.
I think this tournament in UQH will be more like the Magic World one.
I hope not, it’s been set up for about half the manga at this point.
The only fight that mattered in the Magic World tournament was Rakan but I think there’ll be more than one important fight in this tournament.
We’ve got Fate and his Ala Alba who’ll probably be there too. Tota’s sister. Maybe Kaito and Nagumo. Chao(shadow-user) will probably be there since he goes where the immortals go.
Tournaments are also a great plot device for introducing new characters so I think we’ll probably see at least one more character from the chapter 1 colour spread there.
Edit: Although I can see the preliminaries being skimmed over.

Possible hint of the time abilities that Chao used in the Mahora Festival arc?
I am scared to think that Asuna also is unfortunately part of the Mage of the beginning from that last part of that translation.
I’m honestly scared for any Negima character involved in this series. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I hope Asuna stays far away from this story as humanly possible.
Personally, I think OverMaster nailed it with this explanation of Chachamaru and Ayaka’s five-second cameo in chapter 99. (^_~)
I can imagine Karin pulling them aside in the inn, then later chasing after their mode of transport while screaming “You said you’d take me with youuuuuuu!”
To be fair, they were going to come back for her (with Zazie for fire support)… but sadly, by the time they returned she’d already been given the Toutabotomy required for everyone without a Y chromosome.

I think They mean the Training time
Given the context provided by the images, I’d say rather it’s:
Touta and co. over 8 months participate in the preliminaries and have a complete victory over those opponents they were defeated by before
Tota and Co. were in the under-ground tournament for those winners to have a chance at the selected slots in the preliminaries since Eva told them not to get involved or enrolled in the tournament and Kirie was not to fund it either. Basically the really hard way to get into the tournament.
Since Eva changed her mind, and probably with Mana’s help, they were entered at the next level up as a contestant officially, so they are competing against the underground winners as the next level. So yeah, I can see them fighting again, along with new opponents.
But as others mentioned, we should see Negima tournament characters that have entered this contest in the past, and we are slowly getting to see familiar cameo faces/characters. I hope we see them fighting too.
I know this is about Tota. But I would hope to see Eva and Fate doing some tournament fighting to see what Akamatsu-sensei can come up with showing any new found abilities or powers since Negima. Seems the Yukihime form maybe competing instead of the Eva form — probably to keep from being hunted by bounty hunters. I hope its not a total Tota only viewing.
I hope Akamatsu also shows Tota’s ‘sister’ fighting too – and see what she’s all about and the ability she has, and what Tota has to face, so she doesn’t blow up the world too.
Been pondering about Kirie’s ability being key. She can reset time every time they fail so that is some good intell on what the future battle will look like, but also using a time reset to free and separate Negi by using time as a quick get away from the MotB once its outside of him. Maybe also grab Nagi too at the same time. All dealing with using the Bind and Spirit aspect of Kirie’s reset time power. Similar how they captured Fate. Would be a good ending if both Negi and Nagi are the ones to finally end the MotB, but I think it will be given to Tota.
It brings up a question Ikkyu asked Kirie when they first battled Fate. He wanted to be brought back in time, for he didn’t want to be left back knowing Kirie was dead, and also asked Kirie, that the whole world could also disappear too — which Kirie looked shocked.
Soo— if Kirie does a timestop and then a time reset to bring back Tota and crew and Negi and Nagi, would the freeze time and the MotB, if Ikkyu is correct, the MotB problem would literally disappear?
OK enough of the spin tonight…
What Illya nailed was the sense of style to its fanservice, if Sensei keeps his fanservice dynamic, I can appreciate it.
Honestly, I thought UQHolder sucked because of it’s lack of fanservice.
I think it’s fine that he is getting the fanservice around the same as negima’s.

I know its general hints, but specifically what similar power? Time stopping? White Mars? Magia Erebea? Why do I think clone, another person like Tota, the next new improved model like the terminator movie series? There is also Tota’s supposed sister too that he’s supposed to fight in the tournament – so does she have his ability too? — or is it left or right hand, and which hand is Zazie talking about. If Tota was a failed experiment, there is a good change they succeeded in creating one that they liked.
There were also three Fates in Negima also, so why not a bunch of Negi clones like Tota.
What we need is a Negi clone, but designed enough to fool the MotB and switch places, and modified enough to imprison the MotB in the Negi clone, and send and seal it locked in time. Wait — am I talking about Tota??
We have lookalike siblings like clones already.
For the Negima fans, several chapters back, when Tota was greeting guests at SenKyokan, there was a guy, with a stripe over his face and head. He was a character that fought with two others at one of the places Negi and class wasn’t, of which one we met already in the preliminaries – the guy with the ram skeleton head. I forgot his name, but Tota escorted this guy to his room. He was also walking when Tota was on the truth candy.

Well, Touta isn’t a clone. He’s a homunculus. I think there’s a reason three characters have addressed him as their older brother.

I’m pretty sure that’s supposed to read “participate in the preliminaries again after 8 months”. They last fought in the preliminaries 8 months ago, Then Eva and Dana showed up, and stuff happened. Now they’re finally getting some rematches after their training.
That’s what it turned out to be.
