OK, this news is a bit old, though I did get it up on the new, “not ready for prime time” FAQ site. KAJISHIMA Masaki-sensei, the creator of the Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki series and subsequent canon spinoffs like Tenchi Muyo! GXP and Tenchi Muyo! War on Geminar, has announced in the recently published 9th GXP novel that he has a new novel coming out entitled Paradise War. The following (from an anonymous source) is the translation from the front cover insert:
On southern island, girls await.

Synopsis
High-school student Kakegoma Shou unexpectedly has to migrate to a southern island. Reluctanty putting his life on hold, he’s off to the southern island of Banjou-shima. With its deep blue sky without a single cloud, lush green forests and translucent emerald blue sea, it is truly a southern paradise.
Landing in the foreign land ahead of his family, he meets four beautiful girls exuding local exotic aura. Getting to rub shoulders with the girls, the southern island is looking not half bad… but just as he has that thought, an error is found in immigration proceedings, forcing Shou to cope on Banjou-shima on his own.
And at this peaceful paradise, contact with an alien civilization!?
Further comments from the source:
The MC’s name can be interpreted as “Shogi piece”, but also as “general on galloping horse”. The island is “board-top” or more meaningfully “board game island” or, if you prefer, “disc-top” or even “saucer-top”. These readings of the names of the MC and the island are no more than educated guesses. The MC’s first name has more than a dozen possibilities, in this context I picked the most Shogi-themed one. One of the possible readings is Masa, fitting the customary Masaki theme. The “alien” civilization is literally “unknown”, there’s no direct allusion to space.
The 2ch guy doesn’t include the opening, he just hints that we can enjoy this without worrying about jailbait, because these beauties look young physically but were born hundreds of years ago. No way to tell from his phrasing if this applies to all of them. Frankly it would seem a little strange to blurt a plot point like this out in the first few paragraphs. In any case this is not a direct quote from the ad.

Some of us think that Kajishima-sensei gave us a preview of the characters in Kamidake Onsen 10 (2010). I’m publishing images from that doujinshi.
And for those curious, the cover of GXP volume 9.
No word from Comiket 83 (Winter 2012) on any news from his doujinshi, though word is that Kajishima-sensei did attend.
Also, there’s no word on whether this is also the anime title Kajishima-sensei was working on getting the approval to produce. It is possible that it is, but it is also possible that Paradise War is something completely separate.
Again, thanks to everyone who alerted me to this and to the anonymous translator for their work. ^_^
While it’d be nicer to have Kajishima do the drawings himself, I have to say this Enami person is one hell of an artist. The Saber pic seen here is the most beautiful Saber I’ve ever seen, bar none.
Thanks for the share. Kajishima-sensei’s art, as depicted above, is a bit pointy for my tastes. He wasn’t always this way, but he is today.
Too bad it’s a novel and not an anime. We never get TM! novel translations here.
Yeah, that’s true. Actually, I never understood why the TM! novels of his weren’t made into OVAs.
I wonder how difficult it would be to do something like a kickstarter to get the Novels translated, all of them the Tenchi ones and the GXP ones and that one volume GXP manga as well… Might have to legitimately look at that.
Viz who had/s the license doesn’t show the franchise on their website anymore so they might not have an interest in it.
Well, a kickstarter could be done, but there’d still be the actual licensing of the product to contend with. Even if some rich person donated $10 million and put me in charge, I’d have to partner up with a publisher and make sure to get a proper lawyer and all the rest. Assuming that all went down as planned, then there’d be the issue of talking the Japanese into actually licensing the novels. They might not allow it. (Such a thing has been known to happen.)
Still, if I win a mega lottery payout, I’ll be my own kickstarter and see how far I can get. ^_^
Well, heres the question I want to know, where does Paradise War stand in the Tenchi Multiverse. As you remember Kajishima Sensei has stated that all his words are part of one interlock set of Universes. Give that and the fact the girls in the pictures (if they are the female character) are obviously not from earth, then it possible that we are actual getting another Tenchi novel, just with new characters.
Are you sure K-sensei wouldn’t mess with us by *not* having it be in the tenchi-verse? ;D
On second thought… Gosenzo San’e wasn’t canon, was it?
@Shadow — It really is hard to say at this point whether the novel will be on the TM!R Earth or some other Earth. That being said, it is possible that should Paradise War take place on TM!R Earth, then it would be a canon spinoff, sans the Tenchi crew (of course).
@For Washu – Kajishima-sensei is capable of anything. *lol*
“Gosenzo San’e,” or “Masquerade” as it was called in the US, was never actually stated to be on the TM!R Earth. To be honest, I always assumed it was a parallel Earth.
kajishima did attend and i do have a pic of him signing autographs. He finally slipped up.
I also think Kajishima has become more edgy in his art as of late, but i do have some rare artwork from recent years where he has drawn in similar style of TM OAV 1.
There was another spinoff to Masquerade. It had different art style then the original and K-sensei was leading that one as well. i do have the LD, but no player to watch it. Then there was also another hentai, called Gap or Gyap, that was done in 2003, but I’m surprised its not listed anywhere.
I did see a photo from that event.
As to the Masquerade spinoff, I could never find out for sure if Kajishima was involved in any meaningful way or not. As such, I never bothered with it.
As to the other title you mention, I’ve never heard of it. ^_^;;;
Paradise War 1 confirmed for May 2.

Thanks for the update. ^_^
Is there another War on Geminar season in the waiting from the awesome first season finale (?). I hope Kajishima-san continues the Tench series
