Unearthing My Anime and Manga Collection
Hey gang!
I’ve been busy unpacking all my stuff of late, now that I have my new shelving units in. One of the biggest frustrations is how one of the packers did such a horrible job. Check out this sample of poorly packed boxes, including the Louis L’amour books that belonged to my grandfather.
No packing paper, so many of the boxes looked like this.
So far, I’ve only found one box that had proper packing for the boxes.
Most of my books are still okay, somehow, but there are books like this.
I haven’t found the rest of the volumes.
Another thing I am unearthing are anime titles that companies used to send me. Here’s a tiny sample, still in the original, plastic wrap. I’m not sure when I’d ever get around to watching the complete series. For the incomplete titles, I don’t know what I’ll do with them. I have a ton of old VHS tapes and DVDs that I’m planning to donate for tax purposes. So maybe I’ll do the same with the incomplete anime DVDs I have…unless they are worth money.
I think the thing that bums me the most is that I own all this anime, but when will I ever have time to rewatch it? In the early days, I used to rewatch my entire collection at least once a year. Now, I almost never get around to rewatching anything due to time constraints.
Finally, I found a poster that I didn’t remember having. I think Geneon sent it to me, but I’m not 100% sure about that. I never got anything from Pioneer back in the day. Regardless, I’m trying to get the folds out so I can put it into a frame. There is some damage along some of the creases, but nothing I can do about that.
Anyway, I haven’t unearthed everything. And I’m still getting things into shelves. I’ll try to get a post later to show that.
Funny you are unpacking and I am packing up my much smaller anime and manga
collection. I hope your stuff survived moving and storage in good condition.
There was a lot of damage to some things. The insurance company ended up paying out nearly $4000 for some of the furniture and treadmill destruction.
If you are packing, I presume you are moving as well then?
