Spoiler Summary/Synopsis
After getting no where in their fight against Mikado and Azusa, Ryouga reluctantly agrees to work with female Ranma. As such, they are able to fool their opponents and temporarily defeat them. However, Mikado and Azusa return to take advantage of Ryouga’s anger at Ranma. In a desperate bid to avoid turning into a pig, Ryouga uses the ice to defeat their opponents.
Female Ranma and Ryouga return to their squabble. When Akane attempts to break it up, she gets thrown into the icy water of the remains of the skating rink. Ranma and Ryouga go to save her, where Ryouga becomes P-chan. When Akane comes to, female Ranma tosses P-chan to her. However, a Chinese girl named Shampoo bursts through the wall of the recovery room, looking for female Ranma.
Akane misdirects Shampoo to saving the hidden Ranma. On their way home, Ranma explains that when he and his dad where in China, they and their guide came upon a village of women heroes (Joketsuzoku). Shampoo challenges female Ranma for eating Shampoo’s food. When Ranma wins, Shampoo gives him the kiss of death, vowing to hunt female Ranma down kill him (as a girl).
When they get home, Akane and male Ranma discover Kasumi let Shampoo in. Ryouga decides to get involved as a way to get rid of Ranma. Shampoo attacks Akane, so Ranma defeats Shampoo. Ryouga insures she knows Ranma did it. As such, Shampoo gives a romantic kiss on the lips to male Ranma.
Thoughts/Review
We get the wrap up of the skating battle in Ranma 1/2 10. This part of the episode was fairly amusing. Nothing really laugh out loud funny except for Ryouga’s desperate efforts to keep out of the cold water in a wedge of ice while having the weight of Azusa on him and Mikado inbound. Of course, Akane’s IQ had to be set to zero so she doesn’t realize Ryouga is P-chan.
Next up is Shampoo. From what I gather, Shampoo’s introduction in Ranma 1/2 10 is pretty accurate to the manga. And here I thought the anime production team were doing something on their own by introducing her at the end of Ryouga’s and female Ranma’s battle with Mikado and Azusa. I’m pretty sure in the OG anime adaptation, Shampoo’s entrance wasn’t in the immediate end of the skating story. I don’t remember caring much for Shampoo in the OG anime, but we’ll see how it goes here.
Final Thoughts and Conclusion
In the end, Ranma 1/2 10 was fun for what it was, despite the usual, absolutely garbage subtitles. And HAYASHIBARA Megumi continues to just be awesome as female Ranma.
