Top 5 Female Anime Main Characters
Recently, I did a top 5 favorite anime female characters. So then the question became, “Okay. But now do your top 5 female anime main characters.” Okay, I can do that, though there will be some crossover. Plus with as busy as I am, I need an easy post. 😜
#5 HONDA Tohru — Fruits Basket
I really love Tohru in Fruits Basket. She’s an orphaned, teen girl who’s trying to keep a promise to her mom. She works part time for a office cleaning company while struggling to keep up her grades at school. When circumstances cause her to become homeless for a time, she ends up becoming the live in maid for SOHMA Shigure, an author. His cousin Yuki also lives there, who’s a classmate of Tohru.
After their other cousin Kyo bursts in on the scene, Tohru discovers that the Sohma family are cursed with the spirits of the zodiac. Tohru then decides to make it her mission to break the curse afflicting the entire Sohma clan. She’s not a girl boss or anything like that. She’s just a normal, endearing girl. Man, I need to reread the manga sometime and finish the second anime adaptation.
#4 Rally Vincent — Gunsmith Cats
When it comes to cool anime leads, Rally Vincent from Gunsmith Cats has to rank up at the top of most folks list. At 19, she’s the owner of a gun store in Chicago during the mid-90s. As a side job, she works as a bounty hunter. She’s skilled with a gun. Rally owns a Shelby Mustang GT500, and she’s a skilled driver. Seriously, what’s a guy not to like about her?
#3 Frieren — Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End
Deedlit may be best elf on the waifu front, but Frieren is best elf as a lead female MC. I already covered her in my previous entry. Nevertheless, her journey in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End has been quite enjoyable. I like seeing how she’s come to understand the former leader of her adventure party who killed the demon king. Plus, she a powerful, 1000+ year old elf sorceress. Good stuff.
#2 Lina Inverse — The Slayers Franchise
Speaking of sorceresses, Lina Inverse from The Slayers (franchise) is top dog. She doesn’t suffer fools. Lina despises bandits. And when pissed off, she’s not afraid to go overkill. Thanks to HAYASHIBARA Megumi’s portrayal of the character, it makes Lina Inverse so memorable and iconic. I really would like to rewatch the series so I can watch Lina obliterate bandits and mazoku.
#1 MISAKA Mikoto — A Certain Scientific Railgun
While not a mage, Mikoto from A Certain Scientific Railgun is an electromaster esper. She got her start in A Certain Magical Index, but in Railgun, she gets to be the MC. The Railgun story connects with the Index story at times. However, keeping the scope to the Railgun series, Mikoto’s character arc is quite enjoyable. While she has an adorable, immature side, she becomes more mature as the series progresses. And she becomes more powerful to.
I think every time I read Negima I gain new appreciation for Asuna. She was never really my favourite character in the series but she gains every single time because I love her development and her growth into the perfect big sis type.
Hibiki I already covered previously.
I don’t know if I have 3 more. My interest in anime has all but vanished since Hibiki’s series ended. But who knows, maybe something will catch my interest again.
I’ve been (SLOWLY) rereading Love Hina. But I do plan to reread Negima! next.
Did you ever watch the Frieren series? Really good.
