Mai Otome 0~S.ifr~ (OVA) 03

SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

Mai Otome 0~S.ifr~ (OVA) 03With Sifr kidnapped by the Schwartz because she is a “Weaver,” they safely take her to a space station in orbit, where they are tailed by Otome Raquel and Elliot. There, John Smith uses this Weaver power through M-9, who activates a series of androids as well as a massively powerful laser, which M-9 uses to destroy a mountain as part of a test firing. Because it takes several minutes for the weapon to recharge, Raquel and Elliot break into the station and attempt to free Sifr, only to have to fight the androids instead. With M-9 now targeting Bruce, Lena (Rena), Miyu, and Sister Shion, and Shiro, Lena presents her Blue Sky Sapphire stone to Bruce to establish a new Otome contract with him in order to save Sifr.

Mai Otome 0~S.ifr~ (OVA) 03The weapon on the space station fires again and there is distress among Sifr, Raquel, and Elliot until Elliot realizes she’s OK, meaning Sister Shion is OK. That’s because Lena has shielded everyone from the blast and as Miyu explains, Lena’s gem from her mother is a “Super Meister Gem,” meaning that while other GEMS have broken due to Lena’s growing powers, this one will not. Giving Shiro a kiss on the cheek, Lena is off to the space station at such a rapid speed, it is all M-9 can do to give everyone a warning to brace for impact. After being reunited, Lena tells Raquel and Elliot to rescue Sifr while she takes care of M-9. Unfortunately, said rescue won’t be easy as Sifr is removed by M-9 and the androids are there to fight the Otome.

Mai Otome 0~S.ifr~ (OVA) 03On the bridge, John Smith activates the station’s self-destruct sequence, to the disbelief of his future successor. John Smith tells the kid to take Sifr and treat her kindly since she will bear children for the Schwartz. Meanwhile, M-9 and Lena begin their epic battle, with Lena producing more than one large weapon to fight M-9 and taking out tons of androids in the process. Kid John Smith takes Sifr but a blast due to the fighting outside causes Sifr to escape. However, she’s located by the Column III Otome, Iruma, who is still going to carry out Headmaster Una’s wish that Sifr be killed.

Mai Otome 0~S.ifr~ (OVA) 03Sifr is saved by Raquel and then grabbed by Elliot as they make their way out of the station as it self-destructs. Meanwhile, Lena grabs M-9 and begins to propel herself at a massive speed to the planet. M-9 is unable to escape from Lena’s grasp and is presumed destroyed on impact. Raquel and Elliot descend to Lena’s location with Sifr safely sealed between them. Lena is exhausted and passes out on Sifr’s lap. About that time, Una and the other Column Otome arrive, intent on carrying out the Mai Otome 0~S.ifr~ (OVA) 03execution of Sifr. Una’s explanation that Sifr has to die because her Weaver powers are too dangerous don’t sit will with Sifr, who wants to live. Raquel and Elliot vow to protect Sifr, so Una has Elliot’s Otome link cut off.

Lena comes too, having heard Sifr’s words of wanting to live no matter what. Despite Lena’s powers, Una will now back Mai Otome 0~S.ifr~ (OVA) 03down and Lena vows to protect Sifr. Una points out that Lena doesn’t have a Robe at present, meaning she can’t use her Otome powers and Bruce isn’t around to activate them. Lena corrects Una by summoning Artemis, which is what has been giving her the golden wings apparently. With Artemis, Lena is able to use a Force Robe Activation sequence, meaning she does not need Bruce to activate her Otome Robe. Indeed, Lena has activated the Super Meister form of her GEM and her Robe reflects that. With it, she is able to soundly defeat all four Column Otome (Una, Rei, Kyoko, and Iruma) with holographic copies of herself in very short order while she and Raquel escape with Sifr and Elliot.

After a memorial service for Richard Blan de Windbloom, Bruce shows Sifr the room where there are Mai Otome 0~S.ifr~ (OVA) 03tons of pictures of her mother and herself. Sometime later, Sifr is officially recognized as a member of the Windbloom royal family is a ceremony. As Lena, Raquel, and Sister Shion watch this from a distance, Miss Maria arrives with Elliot in tow. She tells them of the Garerobe’s ruling regarding the recent events. Una is relieved of her job as Headmaster, Otome Rei, Kyoko, and Iruma are suspended for a month, and Maria is the interim Headmaster. This would lead to another adventure to be told at a later time. Lena and Sifr go to pay Lena’s mother a visit with Elliot in tow bringing gifts.

Review/Thoughts:

Mai Otome 0~S.ifr~ (OVA) 03I see that Lena’s naked breasts are in high demand because we can’t go without seeing them either naked, jiggling, or showing that her nipples are erect. Nice. Even the one scene which showed Lena having a HIME mark rather than an Otome mark could have been done without having her whole breast just flopped out there, conveniently exposed in the fight with M-9. There was no reason to have a nude version of Lena deflecting the space station attack either, but oh well. These OVA’s give the animators a much wider berth and they take advantage of it for sure.

Mai Otome 0~S.ifr~ (OVA) 03Watching this episode, one wonders how in the world Lena was killed. In Mai-Otome, Lena’s daughter Akira is trying to learn more about her mother, who she knows was an Otome. Somehow, Lena was killed after giving birth to Akira and rescued by Miya. I watched episode 25 of Mai-Otome again, and this time it had much greater meaning having seen Lena in action, but it still doesn’t say how Lena was captured or killed. As powerful as Lena is shown to be in this episode, it seems almost impossible that she would have been killed despite the fact that she married and bore a child, thus becoming a Shinso candidate (which is what Schwartz wanted to start their own kind of Otome).

Still, I did like seeing Lena kick some butt and the episode just flew by. However, why did John Smith just decide that they needed to destroy their orbital station? That made no sense to me. Well, IF the hinted other story is made into a series, maybe there will be answers there.

So a good episode and good end to this OVA series.

nice summary, since I didn’t really understand what they were doing when I watched it…only recognized the parts where Lena was given an excuse to be awesome lol

If she had a child, that means she then couldn’t use her robe powers, right? No matter how kickass she is with a robe, I think she’s pretty much a normal person without one..

  2. AstroNerdBoy says:

Well, it seems that her having the Child is what allowed her to use the Robes and bypass the normal system. Without her Robe, Artemus still is there, as we’ve already seen.

Meh. One of the bad things about this franchise is that there’s a lot of confusing issues on what’s what.

Looking at footage from Mai-HiME up to Mai-Otome, if it’s at all possible to connect all the series together, the mark on Rena explains it; Rena herself is a HiME. Artemis is the combination of both her HiME and Otome powers. What’s more, it’s the same mark as Alyssa Searrs. Just speculation, but Rena may be a descendant of Alyssa. Also explains why Miyu is so interested in her welfare.

Also, just wanted to point out something about her battle with the columns…remember her fighting style in the first episode? Those weren’t holographic copies…they were after-images. Rena is THAT fast! 😉
