Is the K.E. Demon-thing taken out?

  2. arimareiji says:

Well, at least we know the robed figure isn’t Asuna or Nagi, eh?

  3. Anonymous says:

    Just random pages this time?

  4. Nick says:

Very very interesting Setsuna comes in to slice his arm off at least i think thats her im curious to see whats next and more pics =) was honestly hopping Nodoka would bust out some bamf skills and fight him but oh well (i will still have a crush on her) and i love that guys name just dont know what it means yet

  5. quigonkenny says:

W00t! Kaede and Secchan to the rescue. Guess it’s to make up for the horrible job of rescuing her they did previously… ^_^

That look on Kaede’s face before Secchan shows up… Oh, I’m in love…

Anyone care to try to translate Nodoka’s end-of-chapter pronouncement? Looks like the secret’s been officially let out.

  6. AstroNerdBoy says:

    @Philip — Not sure.

@Arimareiji — Dynamis. Don’t remember that name being mentioned before.

@Anon — Yeah, it appears that way. Previously, the pages have been released in batches, in order. This time, four images at random.

@Nick — I didn’t even pay attention in the hurry to get these up for you guys, but that is Setsuna. Still, even though Nodoka didn’t go nuts, she’s apparently going to rally the troops which is good enough for me.

    @Quigonkenny — Heh! Yeah, that’s true. Second time’s a charm. ^_~

  7. Anonymous says:

It’s nice to see that the characters are meeting up with each other pretty quickly

  8. CS says:

Well, she’s essentially saying : “There’s a way to return those whose have disappeared to normal! As long as we can get our hands on a Key of the Lifemaker!”

    Tis’ just a rough trans

  9. Anonymous says:

Whenever Kaede opens her eyes in battle, watch out!

  10. AstroNerdBoy says:

Anya gets at least a thought-mention by Kaede. ^_^

  11. Did Nodoka dodge Dynamis’ attack on the first page? Makes me wonder, being telepathic and thus able to tell what moves her opponent are making, she could become a formidable combat mage with the right training.

Also, it is nice to see Anya at least mentioned. Almost thought Akamatsu-sensei had put her on a bus, it’s been so long since we’ve seen her.

  12. With fate/tetruim(i forget now) meaning the third i threw “Dynamis” into wikipidea and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamis
    TLDR
Ancient Greek word meaning “power”, “capability”, or “force”.
but it might be a little off for the root word spelling is Dunamis.
Go Setsuna! well if she is there Konoka isn’t too far behind. So more people might pacto with her? (just a guess)

  13. arimareiji says:

@Nick: Yeah, the traditional line is “Either remove your hand or lose it”… Setsuna apparently decided “%@&# that, I’m just skipping ahead to step 2.” (^_~)

@ANB: Sorry, I should’ve thought to mention it before – I have no idea what (if anything) the robed figure’s name signifies, but dynamis means “abundant supply, reserve, store”. Might be more accurate to say that’s what it meant, though.

  14. arimareiji says:

Eh, should’ve noted that was the Latin meaning.

  15. SL from MH says:

Actually from the way Nodoka’s dress look in the 2nd spoiler pic & the last one, as well as loking closely the 1st pic it seems that Nodoka did really fight that ‘Shadow Mage’ Guy (in the first pic it looks like Nodoka is either aiming a kick or skillfully dodging the attack by the Shadow Mage guy)

In the 2nd spoiler pic, it seems that Nodoka had hid a small diary (most probably her artifact) in between her valley :). But it seems to have been burned by the Shadow Mage.

It also seems that not only Setsuna has joined Kaede’s group but even Natsumi & Kotarou has joined them as well.
So, now the only ones left are Fake Asuna’s group, Negi’s group and Paru’s group.

P.S: ‘Astro’ can you tell me how to write in ‘Italic’ or ‘Bold’ form on the blog posts (isince i don’t know how to do it).

  16. AstroNerdBoy says:

@SL — HTML tags! When you post a message, right below the message box should be the sentence, “You can use some HTML tags…” The “b” tag is for Bold and the “i” tag is for italics. To close a tag, simply add a “/” before the letter (< /b > or < /i > but without the space).

  17. willyvereb says:

So…it’s no matter if it’s big or small, Akumatsu sensei likes cleavages very much.^^
A few chapters ago shooting it out as a gag and now using something similar as serious tactics?

We need more pictures but it seems Nodoka held her own for a while and managed to lure the Shadow-guy away.In my opinion it’s much better than Nodoka suddenly bringing out a hidden ability of hers or a new magic item. And also it isn’t her style to defeat someone alone.

So the partly starts to gather at last. Next chapter we’ll probably see Yue meeting up with Nodoka after a long time. It’s bound to be interesting even if may Yue hasn’t regained her memories yet.

  18. Looks like I was correct about Nodoka having a 2nd copy of the diary on her person, and this would explain why the main copy has been without illustrations when we have seen it recently. I wonder if the second copy was completely destroyed or only damaged.

Unfortunately for Dynamis it appears he forgot Rule Number 6 on the Evil Overlord list

“I will not gloat over my enemies’ predicament before killing them.”

Up until this chapter he had seemed intent on killing Nodoka straight away yet for some reason decided to use her as a hostage (I wonder what happens to Asakura) against everyone else, at least when Fate failed to kill Nodoka it was due to events beyond his control.

Assumign Dynamis survives I can imagine the post battle debriefing with Fate will go something like this

Fate: I killed Jack Rakan using COLM despite him being more powerful than me

Dynamis: I had a chance to kill the otherwise powerless mind reader but her friends rescued her after I decided to use her as a hostage and she now knows how to bring everyone back using COLM after reading my mind

It is of course possible that something happens between the scenes that explains why this occured, but it does seem sloppy given that Nodoka is to date the only member of Ala Alba that Cosmo E have deemed dangerous to them and if CS is correct in his translation then she has once again shown why

  19. Philip says:

If Dynamis was taken out, then hopefully those demons he summoned will disappear…

However, there is that situation where MM will resume hunting for AA. They probably still think Negi and his group were responsible. They’re probably still unaware of K.E.’s presence. If any were aware, they were either wiped out or it’s just politics getting in the way of things.

  20. Anonymous says:

Nodoka can real time read mind
and turn those to voice via ear pin,
maximum 4 books on the same time.
    Reference the chapter they arrived
    city with Christ gangs.

Dynamic uses on Chemistry to refer
Move all the time in Equilibrium.

If you notice The Pactio Card of
Nodoka. There is the one main books
and same type of 2 floating and
7 more laying on her back. That
means she can summon 10 books,
the main one is text and drawing
pic, others are text mode only
    with floating feature, same ref.

    Wib.

  21. Wow, now the story is taken in a new direction. The original storyline has gone quite far since the times at Mahora Academy. Now we have the Magic world, enemies, kidnapping and quite a bit of interesting twists in the plot.

  22. Anonymous says:

This reveal really doesn’t have the weight that the revelation that Mundus Magicus was on Mars did because we were expecting it all this time. I was wondering if the writer was actually going to do a mind-f*** with us and say that they could not be resurrected.

Still, if the guys who were rewritten can be brought back, wouldn’t that mean that Fillius Zect could also be brought back? Hell, the entire country of Verspertia could be restored. Maybe that will be the climax: the resurrection of a dead country!

  23. AstroNerdBoy says:

Busy, but taking a quick drive-by posting. ^_^

I think Zect could be brought back considering his method of departure. We’ll see though.

@Yakitatefreak — Yep, things have certainly changed from the start of the manga. ^_^

I’m looking forward to seeing the whole chapter and hopefully gain a greater understanding of the pactio artifact system (Nodoka’s artifact specifically). I just remembered that Negi could remotely activate a pactio artifact for a partner, so maybe that’s how Nodoka got her book back.

  24. Nick says:

I do think Zect will be brought back and have some important part to do with getting to Nagi and if they get the key RAKAN!!! will be back i cant wait or at least i hope so…

  25. Sexyback says:

to be honest, I’m a little disappointed. We dramatically lose Rakan over the course of two chapters, and then in the very next chapter, we find out he can be brought back? Seems like a pretty quick transition imo. I’d rather Akamatsu-sensei just reveal the secret to the Magic World – right now, he’s putting too much suspension on the secret and too little on this new development.

  26. jjh says:

Now, the problem is how and when to resque the real Asuna. Negi and his class knew Asuna is the key of this situation. In my opinion, currently, Negis are no match against Fates. Some might say they are strong, but I don’t think so.

    So, two choices…

    1. Go back to Japan first.
In this case, Fate has no business to Negi because he got Asuna, so Negi can go back to Japan easily. And then, they train with Eva, Albireo, Eishun, etc. Like Anime, All 3-A will get pactio to resque Asuna. One problem is this manga will be longer than now.

    2. Stay and get Nagi’s job done.
It’s going to be very simple. Because the current members are very good at correcting information (Nodoka, Asakura, Chisame), they will find some ways to finish. It’s not going to be a big battle or war because they are no match.

  27. BlueB says:

I’m afraid going to Japan first has become out of the question, since Negi knows very well K.E. could use Asuna to do the same thing they did in the War. By the time Negi tries to come back the Magic World could very well have already been destroyed.

As for a straight fight, I tend to agree with you, especially with Fate using the Life Maker powers. But… if Negi managed to take control of those powers, all bets would be off.

  28. AstroNerdBoy says:

I think it will be option 2 as well. I just can’t see Negi leaving the job undone now and the girls with him (as well as Kotaro) aren’t going to want to leave until everyone is back. I think that’s why Akamatsu-sensei had Nodoka reveal that to those with her as this will be the final linchpin to get them all to stay.

  29. Anonymous says:

thats not the whoe capter right?

  30. AstroNerdBoy says:

No. For whatever reason, the Japanese provider of these images only snapped a few this time. It is strange how they tend to shift on how they do spoilers. There was a time when they’d only do partial pages. For whatever reason, they started doing whole chapters for a while in recent months.

Still, that gives us something to look forward to when the chapter is actually released. ^_^

  31. Anonymous says:

    I’m just thinking..
Negi can’t fight the way he is now right?
He can’t control his overflowing darkness..
So what if godel can “cut” that darkness inside negi so he can use ME again?
Shinmeiryuu can choose what to “cut” right?
    Anyway just a random thought…

  32. AstroNerdBoy says:

Hmmmmm…I’m not sure that can be done, but if it can, Setsuna should be able to do it as well.

  33. Philip says:

just saw the raw that came out…

Nodoka got a hold of the keystaff and used it to defend herself before teleporting with Asakura to the extraction point.

Also, have you checked out how Setsuna handled her 2nd pactio with Konoka amplifying it?

  34. SL from MH says:

Raws (i think its of MQ) of this chapter is out on ‘RP’. Those who want to see it can get it there.

P.S: Seems that the raws are out a bit too quick this time.

  35. SL from MH says:

Nodoka is really rocking against that Shadow Mage guy. She even manages to get hold of his ‘Key Staff’ and manages to teleport herself & Asakura (using the staffs power) to were Kaede is. Also Ako & Tosaka have a moment together before he petalized.
Even though Nodoka managed to escape, the Shadow Mage follow her & gets the ‘Key Staff’ back from her before Setsuna & Kaede forces him to escape from there.

Also it seems that Setsuna’s new artifact can change sizes aswell, though it looks like Konoka has something to do with it.

  36. AstroNerdBoy says:

Haven’t seen the chapter yet but I look forward to it. ^_^

  37. Anonymous says:

Nodoka’s grab of the staff and get herself and Asakura is pure win, though it is a shame she lost the staff in the end.

  38. Anonymous says:

well we have seen Motoko doing the whole exorcise darkness with her sword skills without hurting the person in love hina i think (or maybe not? been awhile since I read it),

since its (understood?) that Setsuna shares the same style, there might be a chance of exorcising the “evil/darkness” in Negi.

I doubt it though since that might completely erase ME which is a dark skill assuming she can target just a portion of the darkness (i just don’t see Setsuna being that skilled enough even if Godel shows he can pick and choose what he wants to cut),

and I don’t think Negi wants to go through another training arc just to get it back again if it did completely exorcise ME

although this does bring up the question of the healer – any chances it might be another red wings member?

  39. Anonymous says:

Woah, go Nodoka. And Setsuna’s new artifact is prety awesome, too. Can’t wait for a translation.

  40. fg7dragon says:

Wow, Nodoka takes the initiative and tries to steal the Key of the Lifemaker, Almost go away with it too.
As for Setsuna’ new artifact, wow, drawing power from Konoka’ huge reserve, that’s almost overkill. That sword may have more power then Negi’ Raijinsou Titanoktonon (That lightning spear combined with 2 Thousand Bolts) or Rakan’ Zankanken (Battleship Cleaver).

  41. AstroNerdBoy says:

I wonder just how much damage Setsuna did to Dynamis. As for Setsuna, having her use both artifacts at the same time is something I look forward too as well (assuming Akamatsu-sensei allows it).

  42. After looking at the Raw have to say way to go Nodoka, the first half of the chapter was simply one CMOA for her

While once again we really need a translation to understand the fine detail of the chapter especially regarding Dynamis’ status at the end of the chapter and if his attack is still going on. Given that the COLM staffs now appear to be vulnerable to use by Nodoka and presumably anyone she tells how to use them I would not be surprised if he made a tactical withdrawal at this point.

As Dynamis appears to be a Lifemaker construct along the lines of Fate I doubt he is dead especially as he appears to hang around to chat for a bit and Jack in his battle with Fate thought he had to completely destroy Fate to ensure he was defeated.

Hopefully in the next few chapters everyone will be reunited so we can finally get some exposition and the reveal of Fake Asuna, before the rescue of Anya and Asuna and the long awaited return to Mahora.

  43. Anonymous says:

The raw is up for those who dont know im downloading it now

  44. Nick says:

Ok just looked at the Raw and Nodoka stole the key there for a second shes getting some skills =)

  45. arimareiji says:

It might not have the punch of Nodoka using the staff to rewrite Dynamis, but this chapter definitely kicks @55. ^_^

  46. AstroNerdBoy says:

While some of the speculation on Nodoka was cool, I like how Akamatsu-sensei plays her. Her smarts have always been her strength and her time with Negi caused her to become more confident. The combination led to her (1) wisely keeping a mini diary on her person, (2) using her artifact to decipher how to use the key-staff to not only defend herself, but get herself and Asakura away, and (3) determine how to get the rest of the MW folks back.

Good stuff all around in this chapter. ^_^

  47. willyvereb says:

If anyone wonders ch 280 already has an english translation thanks to cnet128.

  48. SL from MH says:

From reading the translation of this chapter, i understand a few points.

It seems that unlike Yue, Nodoka doesn’t have the talent to be a Mage. As she understand this thing very nicely, it seems that she decided to prepare herself to use Magic to power herself up so as to at least be able to counter an enemy to some extent with her powered-up athletic abilities (like seen in this chapter).

Also i think we finally know the name of the Chief which according to Setesuna is “Chief Kumama”

It also seems that there is atleast one person in the group (Kaede) who has had a doubt about there being two badge signals instead of only being one signal from the place Anya is captured (after Yue was found by the group).

  49. AstroNerdBoy says:

Kumama appears to be a pun name. “Kuma” means “bear” and “mama” is a “female proprietress (of a bar).” ^_^

  50. from what i read from the english translations, it appears that Nodoka may very well be a serious threat the KE. With her mind reading ability, she can figure out what the enemy is doing and act accordingly. She was able to figure out how to make the staff work and use it against the enemy, even for a short while.

Her last words at the end of the chapter shows her resolve to see the events through the end. She was giving words of hope to all who were assembled and anguished by the losses they’ve suffered.

Also, based on her words, the COLM staff appears to be capable of producing copies of itself, as she had mentioned that to “bring everyone back… we need the Great Grand Master Key of this world.”

It may be safe to assume that whatever this key is, Asuna will be right close to it, as her powers were the one needed to operate it. Jack Rakan mentioned it in the previous chapter.

I love this manga. One of my favorite. Whenever I read Negima it makes me feel happy 🙂
