Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood – 50

SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood - 50Roy’s party, seemingly about to be executed, are saved by a group of rebel soldiers in civilian garb who injure all of the Central soldiers in the room, save the commanding officer. Bradley’s wife is afraid and wonders if this means her husband has abandoned her. Roy doesn’t have an answer, but says they’ll protect her. Meanwhile, the injuries to the Central forces mount with no fatalities and the generals are in a tizzy. Olivier Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood - 50offers a suggestion, which is rejected since she’s there to keep Briggs from rebelling. She mocks them over this, saying that the Briggs soldiers will continue on even if she is killed. True to form, the Briggs soldiers emerge from their underground hiding place at Olivier’s mansion (?) and attack, though they kill their opponents.

Mustang’s men are running low on ammo when Rebecca Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood - 50arrives in a large ice cream truck packed full of weapons and ammo, much of which is from Xing. Also with her is Lt. Ross, who came with this Xing merchandise. Now fully armed, Roy and his core group along with Ross and Rebecca make an escape. As Ross knows the organizer of this ammo and weapons gift for Roy, a phone patch is set in and Roy thinks he’s going to be talking with someone from Xing. Instead, he’s stunned to learn that Havoc is responsible, using the cover of a sundries shop to make the weapons deal.

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood - 50Mei Chan attempts to hide from the military patrols looking for the rebels as Ed and company arrive in Central. With all the military checkpoints and patrols set up, Ed decides their best way of getting down below the city is to do so through the third laboratory, where they find the hidden entrance inside. Hohenheim takes one avenue with Lan Fan, whom he knows wishes to find Ling/Greed. Everyone else heads another Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood - 50direction. Once alone, Hohenheim tells Lan Fan to go find Ling/Greed.

Meanwhile, with the rebellion getting out of control, a general heads to the room where the fake humans are kept. Over the protest of one of the scientist, the general activates the fake humans and once the philosopher stones enter them, a single eyeball appears in their forehead and all start to scream so loudly, it is heard by everyone making their way to Father’s lair.

Thoughts/Review:

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood - 50I figured that last episode’s ending with the shots would be a misdirect and that some of the soldier with guns pointing at Roy’s party would turn and shoot others. I didn’t expect that those soldiers would stay loyal, but there’d be other soldiers in civilian garb that would do the shooting. Regardless, the effect is the same as (1) Roy’s party is saved and (2) the rebellion grows.

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood - 50I loved the return of Ross. I’ve mentioned this before, but the story seemingly forgets about characters for a time, then brings them back when you don’t expect it. In that regard, it makes for an enjoyable moment of surprise. ^_^

Which reminds me, I didn’t even recognize Brosh last episode. ^_^; Well, I sorta did but since his name wasn’t mentioned (he was just called “oniichan”), nothing clicked. So when I see him all Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood - 50mad at Colonel Mustang’s rebellion because Brosh thinks that Ross is dead, I thought, “I wonder what his reaction will be when he discovers Ross is alive?”

Also returning from forgotten land was Havoc. *lol* Who would have thunk that a paralyzed man working in a general goods store would turn gun runner and arrange for weapons to be delivered to Roy’s rebellion? I didn’t, that’s for sure, especially Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood - 50since there’d been no indication of it, at least not that I remember. Still, it is nice to see Havoc still be involved in the story in a meaningful way. ^_^

Mei Chan bringing Envy into the lion’s den is obviously a bad move. However, I’m sure the story needed to have another homunculus go active for the upcoming fight and that’s why things are being done this way.

Oh, and speaking of the homunculi, there’s no doubt that Pride is tapping out a message and Father appears to have received it.

Hohenheim’s reminder to Ed about Father controlling alchemy makes me wonder if we are soon going to get an answer about that.

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood - 50Interesting how Olivier played things right until the very end. While I never doubted where her loyalties were, she waited until the generals told her the truth of why she was there, at which point she kills one and has another injured and under her control. It will be interesting to see how things go from here.

Finally, the homunculi army has awoken to quite creepy and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood - 50monstrous means. Somehow, I get the feeling that they may not be so easily controlled. In fact, since Father is no doubt behind their creation, they would seemingly destroy everything. We’ll see though.

So as usual, another good episode. ^_^

  1. the fun fact man says:

Father did not make the Lesser Homunculi army that was the generals and scientists (one who even said that they were not done yet) but those things are two homunculi combined personality wise
Gluttony and Sloth (they have sloth’s brainlessness and lack of personality and Gluttony’s desire to full their guts and that’s all i can say about them

The only difference this ep was that when Olivier cut the officer with her sword, she cut his arm from the bottom of the wrist up to the middle of his elbow in the manga. I’m guessing this was just changed because of how violent that is, especially when it was not chopped off but hanging down and bleeding.

And, as long as they don’t edit this for violence too, next episode should begin with a freaky nightmare-fuel scene.

@fun: Good point, I never thought of that army as combination of Sloth and Gluttony.

Offtopic: The new Kenshi episode is released. Check it out!

You misinterpreted some things in this episode that were a bit more clear in the manga. Either that or the anime changed them. First off, the “rebel” soldiers in civilian garb were actually Roy’s old platoon from Ishbal, whom he had contacted and told to get ready via messages sent through Madame Christmas, aka his mother. The ambush by them was planned, IIRC, in order to show Ms. Bradley what the military was willing to do to get rid of Mustang.

As for Havoc, he’s working at his parents’ general store in the East, not a laundry store. In fact, during the phone call to Mustang, he says: “Serving the community for 80 years, this is Havoc’s, your neighborhood general store. We have everything from rubber waistbands for your underwear to armored trucks, one phone call and we’ll deliver anywhere!”

Also, the Briggs troops did attack from under General Armstrong’s mansion. She had forced he family out of Central in order to protect them, then fought Alex inside the place, ostensibly for control of the family, in order to provide an excuse to renovate the place, and move Briggs troops into the basement there.

This point in the manga was one of my favorites, because all the action is picking up and it reintroduces characters that we haven’t seen in a while. It just keeps picking up from here on out.

OK, doing some catch up on comment reading.

@Ghost — I meant to write “sundries” and wrote “laundry” instead. *_* I’ll fix that and thanks. ^_^

As to the rebel soldiers, the episode showed that they knew Roy, but that didn’t mean anything special to me. The episode certainly did not play out that this was a planned thing, only that they were backed into a room for some reason, then about to die, then they were saved.

The Briggs troops weren’t clearly shown exiting the Armstrong residence (not that I recall anyway) but I assumed that must be were they came from since Olivier has cleared the joint.

Thanks everyone for the comments. ^_^

yea thats because it told us that they came out of the mansion

and anon they edited that scene to make it make sense as well as violence if that happend to your arm you would be in shock from that
