The Japanese may not have provided Negima! spoilers, but here are some spoiler images for us from the upcoming episode 9 of Angel Beats! (I’m guessing the RAW’s will appear soon since the Japanese posted this yesterday but I didn’t have a chance to see the image then).
This is the preview from the official site, the episode itself is not yet aired. It seems that Otonashi survived the train wreck, so I am curios as to how he actually died.
Ah. I hadn’t realized that. I just pulled it from 2ch. Good to know.
There is also a slim chance that Otanashi could dissapear in this episode only to find himself back at the scene of the train crash and him remembering everything refers to the world he was in at the end of the episode. (A bit too reminscent of UK Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes though)
Given that IIRC Angel Beats is only a 13 episode series this episode should hopefully lay the groundwork for the finale
Oh shi . . . i can suddenly see the end.
Otonashi eventually becomes a Doctor and invented this AfterLife/Virtual World to save these survivors/patient that goes into coma , and he is there to wake them up.
Oh cra . . .
I need to watch this show everyone tells me its good but i keep putting it off =/
@Mister_Random — Let’s hope, though I tend to suspect that some of the answers we seek will be in the novels or manga that go along side the anime.
@OneSin — Heh! You never know.
@Nick — Yeah, it is interesting. This is the first show that I’ve done all this fun coming from Japan.
Well , Otonashi did say he find the scene familiar in ep 7 (the one with Tachibana gardening) , he might have known her after the train accident at some point.
but then again this seems far fetch , they afterall have the same appearences when they passed away. so Otonashi may have to be appear older than his current self.

That sounds suspiciously similar to the JRPG ‘Shin Megami Tensai: Digital Devil Saga’, albeit with slightly more humanitarian reasons for the simulation and without all of the “eat those that you defeat” context of DDS…
(Wait… come to think of it we don’t REALLY know where those who disappear go… Or what they’re putting in the food at the school cafeteria…)
I kid… at least about the parenthetical…
If the idea is at all valid, then Otonashi’s reason for being in the system would probably be to figure out exactly why there are unexpected problems with the system… problems caused by a certain female trouble-maker who’s raging against God…
Still need more evidence for it, though.
