Space Battleship Yamato 2199 – New TV Series Trailer

Since yours truly is on the back half of a huge number of 12-hour days worked in a row, I’m really behind on watching stuff and getting some blogging in. That said, when I was alerted about a trailer for the remake TV series of the original Space Battleship Yamato TV series (Space Battleship Yamato 2199), I found time to squeeze in a few minutes to watch the trailer and share the love.

I like how the ship designs appear to be the same as the original TV series, only done with CGI (making for niftier space battles). The character design for Yuki was quite striking, I thought. She’s instantly recognizable, but without the 70’s character design look. One thing I would like to see is some minor script modifications, just to lose some of the 70’s cheese and to have more women than Yuki on board the Yamato.

I have to say that I’m rather excited about the prospects for seeing this reboot and it should be on my review schedule when it comes out in April 2012.

Well, the franchise has been up and kicking in Japan for a while. They had the anime movie a while back and the live-action movie as well. Now, the reboot of the TV series.

Not sure about this in the U.S. though. *_* Granted, I don’t want to see anything called “Star Blazers” though.
