Happy New Year 2012! (Year of the Skyrim Dragon!)

Happy New Year 2012! (Year of the Skyrim Dragon!)

Happy new year, everyone! I hope everyone had a decent 2011 (though I know it wasn’t a great year on many fronts) and hopefully, 2012 brings better things. ^_^

As I am wont to do at this time of year, I thought I’d take a look-see at how things went.  Work kept me very busy at times, but amazingly enough, at the end of the year, some evil time-sink called Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim took my limited free time. ^_~

So, how’d I do anime-wise?

  • Urusei Yatsura – I plowed through  more of this, but there’s still a fair amount left. I plan to continue to press forward here until I get to the end of the series.
  • Mobile Suit Gundam – As expected, I did finish this one. I do plan to do the next series in the franchise, but when is the big question.
  • Evangelion 2.x – I did pick this up and loved it. Whenever 3.x comes out, I’ll be doing the same. I don’t think I did any other anime movies even though I’d considered a few, including the Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha one.
  • Keroro Gunsou – I put in a few more episodes, but not many. I need to press forward more here.
  • Inuyasha Final Act – I just couldn’t muster enthusiasm to do this. What I should do is just watch the series and write a final review, skipping my normal episode reviews.
  • Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki OVA 3 – I was reminded the other day that I hadn’t blogged this series. ^_^; OK, I’ll have to try to do it sooner rather than later and then pick up GXP as well.
  • Armitage III – This is STILL sitting out at my TV. What the heck is wrong with me? ^_^;
  • A Certain Scientific Railgun – This is one I will be blogging, but not on an episode basis. Why? Because I have liked the first two manga volumes well enough to want to watch the anime.  However, in order to actually get something done, I’ll pass on the episode blogging and just do the series.

As to what else I watch this year, I’ve no clue beyond continuing everything that is still currently in progress (new and old).  I should do more opinion pieces on things since those seem to be big draws for some reason. ^_^;

So, in closing (and realizing I have a TON of blog posts to fix from the past), I leave you with a Skyrim wallpaper and some “kawaii” Skyrim anime-styled art from Ghostfire, as I prepare to return to the world of Skyrim and press forward with the main quest. ^_^

  1. Nice! Skyrim is awesome :3 But I wouldn’t really call it the year of the dragon just yet, because Chinese New Year has yet to come.

    Uwa~ I can’t wait for To Aru Kagaku no Railgun! XD

    Happy New Yeaer!

    I recommend Nisemonogatari, unless you haven’t seen bakemonogatari yet.

    And I recommend Level-E, just 13 episodes. Really cool, really funny. I recommend it to everyone who missed this.

    And also Baccano – pretty much everyone who’ve watched at least few episodes have loved it. But it’s hard to understand what’s going in the beginning since it shows three timelines with about a dozen main characters. But nonetheless it’s really well made.

    Isn’t bring Tenchi back only asking for trouble? I love the series, but you know the type of fanatics show up when OVA3 and GXP are discussed.

    Speaking of Tenchi-kama, have you heard anything from Comiket 81, Kajishima-sensei did release his stuff early so I hope you might have heard something.

  5. Happy New Year, ANB!

    I’ve done poorly anime-wise this past year. I’ve fallen behind on so many series. It’s so bad I still have some from 2010 I haven’t finished. I can’t remember the last unlicensed series I’ve finished. I’ve also been watching several series on Hulu and Crunchyroll, but I’m way behind on those as well. I also have a lot of DVDs collecting dust that I haven’t sat down and watched yet. The only shows I watched all the way through in 2011 were FMA: Brotherhood, Kekkaishi, and Durarara, all of which aired on Adult Swim.

    I guess my New Years resolution is to get back into watching anime. I’m getting tired of playing Halo online, and that’s been my biggest spare time user-upper.

    P.S.: When are you going to review ch. 348 of Negima? RHS has had it scanlated for a while now.

    P.P.S.: I used to want to play Skyrim, but then I heard one too many “Arrow in the Knee” jokes. :p

    I loved GXP and liked OVA 3 (although GXP wasn’t about Tenchi, it was still a lot of fun and showed Jurai and the Galaxy and OVA 3 was somewhat boring but explained a lot of things).

    I think the only Tenchi that I didn’t like that much was the third Tenchi movie (too boring for me, but it was a good drama movie nonetheless) and Shin Tenchi Muyo (because of the stupid monsters!).

    About the last Comiket: it’s over, but ANB is still looking for news. I already asked about that: http://astronerdboy.blogspot.com/2011/12/some-asuka-and-rei-neon-genesis.html (after the first ANB post I askrd that and after that ANB answered).

    Yes, indeed. ^_^

    JUST finished it. Not sure a review will get done in time though. 🙁 Not sure where my free time went. ^_^;;;

    I recommend Nisemonogatari, unless you haven’t seen bakemonogatari yet.

    I haven’t. ^_^;;;

    I totally missed this. ^_^;;;

    Thanks for the recommendation. ^_^

    I’m not going to worry about that. The problem has been finding time to watch my anime DVD’s, otherwise an article would have already been up. I find that on those limited occasions where I sit in front of the TV and watch something, it is usually from my non-anime collection. Indeed, at the moment, I have the 2nd season of Star Trek: The Next Generation in the BD player. ^_^

    Speaking of Tenchi-kama, have you heard anything from Comiket 81, Kajishima-sensei did release his stuff early so I hope you might have heard something.

    Not a peep. 🙁

    Happy New Year, ANB!

    Thanks. ^_^

    I’ve fallen behind on so many series. It’s so bad I still have some from 2010 I haven’t finished.

    I’m suddenly reminded of the Inuyasha series I never finished. ^_^;;;

    P.S.: When are you going to review ch. 348 of Negima? RHS has had it scanlated for a while now.

    Out of respect for Kodansha, I delayed the posting of the review until the chapter was released in Japan. Japanese bloggers also do this, from what I understand.

    P.P.S.: I used to want to play Skyrim, but then I heard one too many “Arrow in the Knee” jokes. :p

    Yeah, that joke got old fast. Its annoying when I sprint passed a guard in the game and he says something about taking an arrow to the knee. However, it is minor compared to the awesomeness that is Skyrim. ^_^
