ラストエグザイル-銀翼のファム-/Last Exile: Ginyoku no Fam
Last Exile: Fam, the Silver Wing – 13
Both Ades and Glacies are prepared to use Exile ships as weapons, while Ades sends its fleets and provincial fleets to attack Glacies. Fam, discovering the trap being laid for Glacies, returns to warn Dion, as Dion and her fellow Winged Priestess rocket fighter pilots launch to engage Ades vanguard fleet. They devastate it and after returning for refueling and rearming, launch again to engage the Ades 3rd Fleet. Fam finally manages to catch up and tether the Vespa to Dion’s Vespa to give them the warning, but it is too late. The Ades fleet uses its anti-Vanship weapons and wipes out the first wave of Glacies craft. Other Ades fleets follow suit with the 2nd Fleet attacking the Glacies rocket fighter base. Dion expresses her thanks and disconnects the tether before she and the surviving 18 craft return to the fight.
Glacies reveals its hidden anti-ship cannons, which cause a 6% loss to the 2nd Fleet. However, the Ades 4th Fleet races in, performing massive carpet bombing so that Ades can proceed. Back at the Ades capital, Vasant is with Sārā, as the young empress prays to her mother for guidance. As she does, Vasant wonders about the necessity of this war, before receiving a report from the front lines, saying that all of the provincial fleets were completely destroyed. Recalling her meeting with some of her fellow Chaos citizens, all of whom had been happy to be chosen for this “honor,” Vasant mourns for them. Sārā sees this and is concerned for Vasant.
In Glacies, the Ades fleets are proceeding on the first, large base there, only to discover that massive walls suddenly rise from the ground, destroying lead ships, and are higher than the battleships can fly. Luscinia recognizes this as the “White Legacy,” Glacies’ Exile. In desperation, the Ades fleet commanders order a centralized attack, but it is too late. Glacies’ Exile begins defending itself, causing the three Ades fleets to take losses and forcing them to order a retreat, lest they be annihilated. Luscinia then has Liliana summoned to him. He asks her if she is truly prepared to do this. She says that since she’s already sullied, she’ll do it. Thus, Luscinia activates her as the Turan Exile key.
Meanwhile, after leaving Dion, the trio of Fam, Gisey, and Millia fly off. Since they aren’t sure where the Silvius is, they decide to return to Kartoffel, which is closer than Anatoray-Disith, before making their next move. Since they burned so much fuel attempting to catch Dion, Gisey calculates speed for fuel consumption until they can reach the Sky Pirate base at Spargel for refuel. However, when they signal Spargel, they get no response. Cautiously flying below the clouds, they see Spargel has been attacked by the Federation, meaning another new weapon of Ades is the ability to go higher than before. They hurry and gather supplies as well as refuel from the abandoned city-base, knowing Kartoffel is in danger. Taking off again, they encounter the Turan Exile heading to Glacies, and Millia knows her sister is the one who summoned it.
As expected, Ades has removed four provincial territories from being major, future threats by sacrificing their fleets. The question is, what will Vasant do now, especially since she has the ear of the Empress?
I’m not liking Liliana’s attitude at all. So, she gets used against her will to slaughter her father and people, and suddenly, she’ll just agree to continue to be used because she’s already sullied? Sounds like a rape victim saying, “Well, you already raped me once, so you may as well use me to get your rocks off whenever you want as I am now soiled.” *_*
Speaking of not liking things, Dion and her fellow fliers deciding that they will just fight a hopeless battle “because they must,” rather than have a retreat to at least come up with a new strategy for handling Ades warships made my eyes roll a bit. There’s being heroic because you have nothing left, and being stupid. I cast Dion’s decision into the later category.
Still, even if Glacies falls, I expect Dion (and possibly her navi) to remain alive and in the Grand Race that’s sure to be revived when the series is over.
Finally, there’s Fam, Gisey, and Millia racing to Kartoffel and the destruction they are sure to find there, assuming Millia doesn’t have them pursue Exile. I’d guess that Gisey’s family made it out OK. We’ll see what happens.
So, next episode should feature two Exile ships doing battle, as well as whatever happened with Kartoffel. I am looking forward to seeing what happens as despite some minor issues I had with this episode, it is still enjoyable.
Actually Dion and her friends didn’t go on to try to intercept the Ades fleet with the rocket fighters they had remaining — if you’ll notice, they’re racing AWAY from the attacking battleships. They’re going to try to regroup in the other Glacies bases that was mentioned, but I do think once the Winged Priestesses re-consolidate they WILL make good on their promise to try to drive Ades from their country or die trying.
I didn’t notice them specifically flying away from the invaders, but I’ll take your word for it. ^_^
